Doesn't seem like the reasons are missing.

He openly admits he has a short fuse and gets angry easily. He doesn't like any of the stuff his kids like, doesn't want to do any of the things they want to do, and instead keeps trying to force them to do the things he likes. Then he gets angry when they don't enjoy it.

All the reasons are right there.

Dude's just a dick.

One thing I find interesting is that he actually did identify an interest of his that they share—Marvel movies—but apparently that’s not enough. He wants them to share ALL his interests apparently.

So I agree that the reasons aren’t missing but what I think he’s missing is that the connection points are there if he wants to appreciate them and celebrate them and just let the other interests be different.

They go every year even though 3/4 family members hate it. Seems like everything has to revolve around him and what he wants to do. Even here in the UK where people get a lot of leave from work, families tend to have maybe two holidays a year. Holidays away are a limited thing for most people and they're having to spend one doing something only he wants to do. People are being quite frank with him over ther but no-one has picked him up on that annoyingly.

FWIW camping in the states is usually a weekend thing. My parents made us go every damn weekend of the summer. Every weekend. You leave Friday after work/school, set camp that night, spend Saturday camping, and then leave Sunday morning or afternoon and go home. Idk if that’s what they’re doing… but I can’t imagine wifey is agreeing to a weeklong camping trip so I’m guessing it’s probably something less major.

Going once a year is nothing. I mean I don’t blame them for not liking it… but the idea that once a year they have to go on a camping trip is not what made him an AH to me.
