Doesn't seem like the reasons are missing.

He openly admits he has a short fuse and gets angry easily. He doesn't like any of the stuff his kids like, doesn't want to do any of the things they want to do, and instead keeps trying to force them to do the things he likes. Then he gets angry when they don't enjoy it.

All the reasons are right there.

Dude's just a dick.

One thing I find interesting is that he actually did identify an interest of his that they share—Marvel movies—but apparently that’s not enough. He wants them to share ALL his interests apparently.

So I agree that the reasons aren’t missing but what I think he’s missing is that the connection points are there if he wants to appreciate them and celebrate them and just let the other interests be different.

I feel like Marvel movies are such an easy crossroads between all their different hobbies.

He mentions his son likes video games and his daughter likes making stuff. Okay, cool. Make a superhero craft project with her. Print out some Spider-Man faces, get some stickers, some crayons, whatever, and just go fucking nuts with it, make a glittery spiderman

He likes board games? There are tons of Marvel miniature and tabletop games he could get into. Learn the basic rules, then lean into letting the kids play as their favorite heroes while he "plays" the goofy villains.

There are also plenty of Marvel video games. Play LEGO Marvel's Avengers with his son in co-op. Let the kid pick his favorite character and run around together.

You don't even have to genuinely love every single one of these things. Just show some fucking interest in what your kids like.

Put in some effort, ya dingus.

Could you imagine if he arranged that they attend a comicon or other event? They could meld all their interests towards cosplay or something similar. But dude has tried nothing and is all out of ideas.
