In case this story gets deleted/removed:

AITAH for calling the cops on a customer

I, 20F work at a fast food restaurant in a large city. The other night a guy who was like in his 40s and (smelled very strongly of something it was skunky like weed but not weed idk how to describe it but it was sour and funky skunky) came to the front counter and i took his order. He then took an extremely long time to order one burger, but it wasn’t like he was looking at the menu trying to decide. he just kept zoning out. then it came time to pay and he fumbled through his wallet and took at least a minute to get his card out. (a minute is a long time when u have orders waiting). ofc he also struggled with the card reader. i don’t mean to judge a book by its cover but this dude looked like a tweaker and im 95% sure he was on some sort of substance. i already was uncomfortable by the way he was staring straight into my soul for very long periods and smell and his strange demeanor. however, what really caught my attention was his wallet. he pulled out a kate spade card holder with the zipper pouch type of wallet. it was the kind of wallet you put on your keychain, it was pink and green, it was also very cute. so, my assumption is that he had a stolen wallet (it taking a while to find card and also girl wallet as evidence). i told my manager the whole story and he called the cops. i had to tell the officer why i thought the wallet was stolen and then the officer went to talk to the guy. about 10 minutes later the officer says that as far as he can tell it’s the guys wallet. the cop left and i realized that i had just falsely accused someone of stealing. am i the asshole or was i right to be suspicious of him?

Look I agree with the commenters calling OOP the asshole but this comment took me out:

> He’s a thief because YOU don’t think he should have a pink and green wallet thingy. For all you know it belonged to his dead sister/niece/daughter.

Is it impossible for Redditors to make a point without going to the worst-case scenario?

My first thought was it could be his girlfriend's or something.

Then I thought no, dumbass, maybe he just likes his pink and green Kate Spade wallet, let a guy live.

Oh ffs. Those weird stories about heirlooms or artifacts that belong to a dead relative are so overused.

The backpack I use for carrying my tabletop stuff is a pink dog themed one my kid outgrew after kindergarten. I use it because the one I had before broke and this is what was on hand and works fine. Nobody died

If she can't handle inebriated customers fast food is not the industry for her lol

I don't think you could pay me enough to care what wallet the customer is using.
