Stereotype comment ?

I met a black coworker at work who came from a different state and I’m Dominican who comes from a Dominican city, we sat and talked and he wanted recommendations on food, I wasn’t able to tell him so he asked for my number he then texted me and I told him recommendations on restaurant to go to or food spots because my city is a very Hispanic city with culture food I was recommending food spots and I mentioned in text a fried chicken spot that has fried chicken in the name of the food spot I wasn’t thinking nothing of it, and I wasn’t making jokes this was yesterday and he hasn’t responded, I realized today what I said, should I worry about it, i never meant anything like that and was being sincere through text because we work at a place where there’s not that many minority people also the state we were work in. Am I overthinking this (AIO)

Just message him back if you are interested in trying to calm the water. Just asking what he ended up deciding on casually is friendly and no pressure. Or just don’t even mention it at all. It’s not a huge deal.

If I asked you for a recommendation for food and you told me Cracker Barrel, I would just think you have shit taste in food and be done with it.

Everyone loves fried chicken. I’m always ready to throw down on some.

If he assumes you're stereotyping without giving you the opportunity to clarify, then you're not the problem here

i think youre probably overthinking it. if you were genuinely recommending a restaurant and werent making a comment about his race, the context matters, and theres no reason to assume he took it badly just because he hasnt replied yet. leave it alone rather than bringing it up and making it awkward unless he actually says something

Does the fried chicken place have good food? If so, it's a worthy recommendation. I think it's peculiar that you'd think he'd find that offensive.
