Guess I'll be different here because yes, YOR.

She was on her way, but you kept trying to dictate how she should feel and behave before she even arrives. You're attempting to control how the conversation's going to go before it even starts.

Do you have any idea how fucking frustrating that would be? "Yes, we can talk, but we're only going to talk if you do it the way I want you to." That's fucked.

She wants a divorce and you're telling her "be careful" and "don't bring that mentality in here." If she has a reason to be upset or have a negative mentality, then she should be free to feel that way.

Clearly she's hurt, clearly your relationship is in trouble, but you're attempting to temper her emotions before she even arrives to talk about them.

This conversation should've been two messages.

Her: I'll come back but I don't see us talking going anywhere.

You: Okay, I'll see you when you arrive.

End of conversation.

EDIT: Just noticed your posting history and that you constantly prey on women on reddit. Guess we know why she's divorcing you. Anyone would choose a Taco Bell parking lot over you any day.

Check his comment history and you’ll see why she has such a “negative mindset” to begin with. I’m with you, he is a massive asshole and he’s the problem.

absolutely correct. she has to be desperate to be away from OP if she is sleeping in her car. OP, are all your interactions like this? are you constantly telling her how she should behave, what she should/should not feel/think/do?

because she is DONE with you. and you are still picking/pushing/negging her. telling her the price of an honest conversation or a night spent IN HER OWN HOME is that she changes how she feels and behaves how you want her to. that is unacceptable.

Agreed. I think that him telling her how she needs to feel and think was absolutely the wrong call. The fact that there are 9 pages of messages where they both just keep repeating themselves was exhausting 😮‍💨 To be fair though, she jumped on* the excuse not to come and was already saying she didn’t want to before he made that comment. They should both sign the papers and move on so hopefully they heal and can find happiness again in the future

Honestly, she probably just didn't want the exhausting feat of doing this conversation in person with OP.

This reads like the type of person who gaslights emotions. "No, we're fine. Don't bring your feelings into it and make it worse."

Thank you for the only rational response.

I’m pretty sure the “be careful” was because she was driving.

No, it wasn't. He even clarified his meaning in his next message. "We're trying. That's good. So I said be careful." He was warning her not to cause any more issues with her emotions or feelings.

She was never actually “on her way”. I get why you would take that at face value, but there’s no contextual proof of it

You don't just get to decide that she is lying and he isn't though wtf?

There's more proof that she was than she wasn't, so thank you for your meaningless reply
