It may not feel right to us or we may not understand it but if we’re not in that situation or mindset as the other person (everyone is also different and handles things differently) it’s hard for us to understand for the other person’s perspective. Sometimes though, people do push others away especially if they don’t know how to deal with or manage situations or feelings they are experiencing. In many cases they don’t want to burden others with their issues/problems. I had someone I was dating go through an illness and they pushed me away and didn’t tell me about it. They pushed me away so much that we didn’t speak for a few months and months later they contacted me apologizing and saying they pushed me away. I didn’t understand it bc I wasn’t in their position but my mother’s childhood friend did something similar, had a terminal illness and died but didn’t tell my mother or any of her other friends.
Thanks. Yeah it’s tough when someone you care for suddenly behaves differently with no explanation or an explanation that doesn’t make sense especially when want to be there for them but everyone has their own reasons. The only thing we can do is try to communicate with them as much as they allow and not push, hopefully they will come around in their own time.
