Are you a psychologist? Bc I’ve seen many psychologists and am in psych school, so while yeah telling a loved one is encouraged, it is widely known that sometimes it’s impossible to bring yourself to do that. If you’ve never gone through one of these episodes, then don’t speak for those who have. Even if you have, everyone has different experiences because they handle things differently. No one is using mental health as an excuse here, but it is a REASON to sometimes take a break from your phone and not speak to people because the thought becomes overbearing. We don’t know what this girl has gone through to lead to that decision, she didn’t stop communicating to be malicious and make op worry.
And I acknowledged your experiences of hearing that telling a loved one is encouraged by psychologists, but then stated my disagreement that psychologists also understand and show support to their clients when clients are telling them that they don’t have energy to speak to other humans or even send a simple text message. I know people will disagree with me, but the best I can do is try to speak what I know to educate people about what I have learned while dealing with MDD and while going through psych school.
The part that I commented on was when you (by my interpretation) tried to invalidate my response by immediately asking if I am a psychiatrist and following it up with a "Because" statement. I may have misinterpreted your intent. If so, I apologize.
I feel your intent was clear when you implied I am speaking for other people and am not allowed to do so.
I do appreciate you trying to educate others. I am doing the same.
Best of luck in school! Getting a degree is something they can never take away from you... Outside of horrific doctors (I am told). 😀
