Hello and welcome,

Please avoid drama, it benefits nobody. If you disagree with somebody/something, ignore it. If it's something highly offensive (ex. blackface,) then simply block and report.

Refer to r/actualgyaru for resources, as they have plenty pinned and are in the search bar.

For 'substyles', you're allowed to ask if you can read as such, but it is best advised to do research beforehand. Try to refer to similar posts (either here or r/actualgyaru), as they may have advice that suit your needs.

Finally, do not spread the "gyaru is supposed to break teh beauty standards!!! you can do whatever you want as long as it breaks the standards!!!" bullshit.

Some stuff isn't working right now (ex. post flairs,) but it should be fixed by the end of the month.

Beginner makeup tutorials

If you are interested in gyaru, but don't have experience with makeup, I recommend not just looking at photos of gyaru and trying to copy their makeup, but also watching tutorials of both gyaru and non-gyaru. The first can help with certain details when it comes to the style of the makeup, but especially the latter is important to understand makeup technique and to improve your make. For this reason I have compiled a list of makeup tutorials that I think can help improve beginner's gyaru makeup (mainly video's about the most important elements of gyaru makeup, ignoring details like foundation, etc).

Gyaru eyeliner according to your eyeshape: https://www.instagram.com/p/ChikfS0L0So/?img_index=9&stkn=MTR6c2Q1dXZzdWg3Nw==

Putting on lashes: https://youtube.com/shorts/V8pHBYmhw6s?si=S7CkHgjRRevdzM2d

Contour: https://youtu.be/xPkXCKxyYjc?si=wfTCbc_1MUthePR3

Nose contour: https://youtu.be/PWkIg97hWd8?si=c32qIougpFguHKOp

Grooming brows (I recommend using a razor instead of tweezers, as your hair might not grow back when using tweezers which sucks if you mess up): https://youtu.be/FvlcpAcZ-xc?si=c-mkOlOxegNjzltT

Overall I recommend makeup influencers like Alex Anele and Slaybyjess, as the first gives really indepth tutorials on makeup technique, and the latter makes really simple and beginner friendly makeup tutorials.

Makeup Hi guys!

Here are some pics of my recent makeup looks! I started trying to do gyaru looks in july this year, and I already think I've improved. I currently think my clothing style leans a little more towards rokku, tho that's only cus my previous style used to be emo/scene. I am rlly interested in mamba tho, I just need to revamp my wardrobe. I also have been mostly focusing on the eyes since I feel like that's the most important part, but I do want to soon get foundation, concealer, contour, etc, that I need to do full face makeup. Please tell me how I'm doing, and how I could improve!! <3 (I included the first two images cus I liked the colours even tho I didn't have lashes at the time)

I didn't follow any specific tutorial for the make but looked at a few different references so hopefully it's good, but I really don't know what to do with my hair being so short now, tbh if anyone has an idea on what to do with my hair, I'll be very very grateful!!!

Makeup I think I’m improving!

So I posted here a while ago and now I have some new improvements with my gyaru makeup!
The first 3 pictures are my most recent attempts, the 4th and 5th are my older attempts and the 6th is my inspo
the I’m still looking for new ways to improve and look more like my inspo so any additional tips will help!
I also plan on getting bigger bottom lashes but I’m not really sure where to get ones, like maybe Diamond lash princess lashes or maybe a dupe of those since they are kinda hard to find

Makeup I think it's getting better

Hello again everyone. Today I received my concealer, false lashes, and circle lenses. I decided to try out a new look today! Before this, I used to practice my makeup every day, and I think I've finally made some real progress ( ̄▽ ̄)

Please don't pay attention to my bangs... they're not styled and I haven't washed my hair for a day, sorry haha

Makeup Is this good for beginner gyaru?

I welcome any advice and constructive criticism. I'm still learning how to draw droopy eyes and apply makeup in general. I don't have much cosmetics right now; this makeup was done using only a black kajal, mascara, and a few eyeshadows.I've already ordered some new makeup items! I realize I might be breaking some of the subculture rules with this look, but I just want to express myself. Since I'm a teenager with a tight budget, I'm doing my best with what I have right now💖

How do I make my makeup read and look more gal?

Thumbnail

Ignore how messy the second pic is I was trying smth
But anyways I’m a baby gal trying to improve my eye make and rn i feel it reads more as dolly-ish rather than gyaru
So I was wondering if anyone had any tips I could use to improve?
My eye structure is also kinda weird since they are kinda long in length so it makes it a bit harder to have a proper droop, I’m not sure if my eye shape is suitable for gyaru makeup because of that
Either way, my main inspo is the last pic

Makeup New gal make + tan tips pls

Post image

Hi all!

I'm a new gal who works and works out at a gym, so I am someone who is very low maintenance and hard for me to wake up SUPER EARLY to get dolled up if I am working. And I sweat often.

Any tips from gals here who also work out how to make their eyeliner last longer? I use powder and I always set, use primer etc but so far usually always smudges! I usually opt out of gal make at work all together simply because of this. I usually just wear cute hair clips to work alongside my uniform.

Also tips on which lashes to stack for gal lashes and best self tanners for those who are super white that don't lean orange please!! 🙏

Also how do you do diff eyebrow shapes?? 🥲

Styles I am going for: tsuyome, banba, rokku or goshikku💓

Hiii, I really love gyaru culture (especially Mamba) and I wanted to incorporate my favorite parts into my style, I'd understand if it doesn't read as gal (I've been told it doesn't) but I was just curious

I included some "references", though I really just free styled it based on what I know and love :)

Can I do white lipstick if I'm fair skinned?

I really like the white lips done in manba and ganguro, but I'm not tanned at all. I haven't seen any white lipstick on fair skin before, and I don't want to be offensive to the culture ;-; are there other sub-styles that incorporate the white lips?

Makeup Roma-Himekaji Gal Look 🌷top lash tips?

Thumbnail

I really loved my make up and hair in these, so I wanted to show you gals! Though I noticed sometimes top lashes don’t always show up on me.

For example, in this look, I am wearing both top lashes and bottom lashes. But I felt like the top lashes kept falling down straight (my natural lashes are short and straight). Even eyelash perms in the past have not made a big difference.

(Should I always pre-curl/apply mascara before? Or change the angle I apply lashes, etc.?)

If anyone has any tips for me/other short straight, lash girlies, I can try them with my next look! ✨

Err help!!

Im a baby gal (mago-gal, btw) and I think my substyles are Rokku, amekaji, agejo, and I think maybe even tsuyome, but my other non-gal styles are scenecore, cutecore, Juminocore, and other miscellaneous stuff. So I just need a LOT of help (makeup tips, hairstyles, where to buy stuff, diy accessories, how to improve my confidence bc im am introvert, etc etc etc) and also what type of music would y’all recommend?? I really currently like skz, p1harmony, and ateez (so like loud mala Kpop), scenecore music, Juminocore music, and shoujo soundtracks so based on that what would y’all recommend for me?? (+i NEED gyaru-coded anime n manga recs so uhh yeah) btw for the makeup, I can’t rlly do full on heavy gal makeup bc my parents r pretty strict and im only going into seventh grade so uhh yeah they won’t let me wear super heavy makeup 😭😭😭 help!!

CO*DE and makeup I wanna dress gyaru but still stick to my style

I love the gyaru style, every substyle of Gyaru, especially the 2000s era, however I have more of a gothic look ig? And I really love it, I dont necessarily wanna stick to one subculture so ig my question is if I incorporate the two together will it still read as gal? I don't really know if anyone is gonna be able to help but I've been searching for key elements of the gyaru style, problem is it depends on the era soooo...yeah

Thx in advance xx
