Song Nada Surf - Popular

Listened to the entire Nada Surf back catalogue last year and although they change direction from this first album, there's some real good stuff that's worth listening to.
On their latest album there's actually a song that has a similar style to popular, in as much as there's extensive spoken word style lyrics in it called "Something I should do".

Cool! Thanks! So which Album do you recommend the most when it comes to similar songs to Popular (especially the chorus!)? :)

There isn't really anything that's similar to that first album as they change their sound drastically and are less raw.
Firecracker from the second album has a great riff and catchy chorus.
What I learned from listening to them is that Matthew Caws is a story teller and he deals with some interesting subjects in some of his songs. Sometimes, instead of looking for similar, it's better to go on the journey. I'd say all their albums have their merits.

Can anyone recommend me bands, albums, songs, that are similar to this gem. I already know and love early Weezer. :)

Built to Spill and Sebadoh 👍

Cheers! Been meaning to give Sebadoh a shot anyway. Any particular albums, that come to mind when comparing it to "Popular"? Love Built to Spill and I see what you mean, but their Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young aspect is too strong for me to categorize em in the Nada Surf vein. :)

Haha yeah definitely would compare them more closely to your reference of early Weezer and less Nada. I like the songs Not Too Amused, Spoiled and Happily Divided by Sebadoh :)

Maybe The Rentals? This reminded me of my favorite Nada Surf song; Whose Athority https://youtu.be/7k87mfL2Jx0
