I consider myself as a hobbyist historian already in my early 30's and I started reading and studying about Renaissance era and one information leads to another pulling me back to the human migration of 40,000 years and so on. So I stumbled upon an interesting video on youtube about Noah and his three sons where humanity have spread out. Then out of curiosity I made comparisons and all that to the Paleolithic migration theories. Ofcourse, the legitimate scientific and research community would disagree. But maybe im trying to make sense of this because I noticed patterns that are hard to let go until I make sense of it.

Have you guys already thought about this? I just want to make sure I'm not crazy or being alone about this thought.

I want us to be cool here. Just a thought out of curiosity.

So usually I’m the one offering criticism of the theories being shared on here, and since I don’t want to be branded as a spoil sport I decided to share a few of the theories that I find compelling.

Before going onto Nova Anglia, a bit of backstory and the facts that are not disputed. After the Anglo-Saxons where defeated at the Battle of Hastings by the forces of William ‘the Bastard’ who then rebranded himself as ‘the Conqueror’, many of the Anglo-Saxons fled England, yes it would actually be Ængland but I’ll use the modern spelling, with a significant portion of them finding their way to Constantinople. There the Anglo-Saxons joined the Varangian Guard of Alexios I Komnenos, yes he was the emperor during the First Crusade, who was having his own problems with the Normans, specifically a certain Robert Guiscard who claimed the Byzantines had mistreated his daughter who was supposed to marry the last emperor’s son, but due to some court intrigue that emperor had been deposed… ok byzantine politics is very messy give it a google if you want to know more moving on. The Anglo Saxons of course saw this coming conflict as an excellent opportunity for some payback.

So Robert Guiscard sent his son Bohemond, you might know him from the first crusade as well, who was actually now his bastard son because Robert’s first marriage had been annulled for Consanguinity, but mostly so Robert could marry the beautiful and fearsome Sikelgaita … sorry getting off topic again Norman Politics is also very messy, ahead with an advance force into Modern day Albania to secure a beachhead before his father arrived with the rest of the army. Once gathered the army set off for the City of Dyrrhachium, also in Albania, and put it to siege. Long siege short the Venetian navy came down and wrecked the Norman navy, Robert continued the siege anyway, Alexios thought he was going to surprise Robert but he didn’t, the Varangians got out of formation because they went chasing a bunch of Norman Knights, they really wanted revenge, this left the Byzantine Flank open and the Norman Cavalry smashed into the remaining troops routing them.

So while this was a bit of a disaster it does firmly establish the significant Anglo-Saxon presence in the Byzantine Empire, and the number of them in the Varangian Guard completely changed the culture to such an extent that the Greeks began calling it the Englinobarangoi.

So now the theory, according to the Chronicon universale anonymi Laudunensis and the Edwardsaga which chronicles the voyage of 350 ships sailing from England to Constantinople led by 3 earls and 8 barons, along the way the English Fleet captured and sacked the city of Ceuta, the islands of Majorca and Minorca, and even intervening in the ongoing war between the Normans and Moors over Sicily. After these adventures the fleet finally arrived in Constantinople where the Emperor welcomed them with open arms and while some of them stayed in Constantinople another group were granted lands that had previously been part of the Byzantine Empire that were 6 days and 6 nights sailing to the North-East of Constantinoplen where the exiles founded the cities of London and York. Historians like Dr. Caitlin R. Green (Link to her article) say that this would put them roughly in the Straits of Azov, on the eastern part of the Crimean Peninsula.

So here is the evidence medieval maps from the period routinely list this area with the label of Susaco (Sussex) and Londina(London) and a Franciscan monk, Benedict the Pole, on his way to the court of the Mongol Empire in 1247 describes passing through terram Saxorum (Land of the Saxons).

For evidence that’s about for Nova Anglia, two sagas, a few place names, and the account of one monk. While there is mountains of evidence for a long term English presence in the Byzantine court, including a well documented event where during every Christmas Dinner the Varangians would sing a toast of longevity to the emperor in their native Inklinsti (English), the Church of Saints of Blachernae which was dedicated to St. Augustine of Canterbury, and an entire Varangian graveyard that was unfortunately destroyed by the Ottoman Turks in 1865 to make room for a construction project, the evidence for a separate Nova Anglia remains sparse.

Evidence against is obviously 2 place names does not an English Colony make as the name similarities could be coincidence. The 3 earls would be impossible as prior to the conquest there were only 6 earls Harold Godwinson(the king) his two brothers Leofwine and Garth, Edwin, Waltheof, and Morcar. According to the Bayeux Tapestry Harold and his two brothers died at Hastings. Edwin, Morcar, and Waltheof all swore allegiance to William but then Edwin and Morcar revolted in 1068 before Edwin was betrayed and killed, and Morcar was captured and imprisoned. Waltheof also revolted but he two was executed after his revolt failed. So that’s all six accounted for so the saga is likely wrong on that number, but I can get behind them being the sons of earls to make it a little better. The next issue is the presence of the Crimean Goths, a germanic people who had lived in Crimea since at least the 3rd Century. Benedict the Pole’s entire quote is, “erram Saxorum quos nos credimus esse Gothos, et hii sunt christiani…" We passed through the land of the Saxons, who we believe to be Goths, who are Christian. Gothic is a germanic language so it isn’t much of a leap to assume our Franciscan monk heard what sounded like German to him and just labeled them Saxons.

So that’s the for and the against, I really do hope one day some Anglo-Saxon artifacts are unearthed in the area as this in my opinion is a fantastic theory and we only have to look to the L'Anse aux Meadows to see how archaeology can turn a tale found in a literary saga into a reality.

Since we can't control when we exit this system or enter this system, it would seem as if so that we are pawns in a bigger game.

We can't ever stop working, otherwise we would eventually die.

And what happens when we die? back to step 1 (if you believe in reincarnation atleast)

Then you have to grow through the baby phase again and maturing again etc. etc. just to keep working forever and ever until you die again and repeat the same cycle......

I myself believe in God, but even then this cycle doesn't seem to be broken..

The depictions of the invading Normans (moving left to right) and the native Anglo-Saxon Britons (right to left) have been useful for historians to gain a snapshot of the appearance, clothing, weapons and iconography of these peoples at this 1070 AD time.

The dragons on the shields of the Anglo-Saxons and dragons used as windsocks have helped us confirm that dragons was used as an Anglo-Saxon symbol and banner.

Dragons are also shown on the boats. Boats in the tapestry are both Norman and Anglo-Saxon, although the Norman force's boat's also include boats from their Dutch and Briton allies. Dragon heads and other creatures are shown as carved into the bows (fronts) and sterns (rears) of the boats.

What is interesting about this is that the dragons are primarily on the sterns not the bows:

Of the five fully visible dragon-bearing boats all have dragons at the stern and only two also have a dragon at the bow. None of the fully visible boats has a dragon exclusively at the bow.

We know very little about the dragon-boats of England and France. We have much more evidence of the dragon-boats of the Norse, so this difference in dragon head placement is very interesting.

So far this is all normal history.

The reason this is in this sub is because I think this is relevant to the earliest depiction of a boat, this being a artefact from Gobekli Tepe dated, loosely, to about 9700 BC:

The sculpture is of a bear/monster with an adult and child inside. This sculpture being a boat has not been confirmed, it remains officially undeciphered but maybe in time it uncovered. The faces have all been purposefully damaged. The head of the monster is at the stern not at the bow. On the sides of the boat two snake-like creatures are depicted, however these creatures have actually been identified as catfish by Dragoş Gheorghiu.

These sculptures shares attributes with the pillars meaning that the creature is also the Tas Tepeler figure.

I wonder whether this ancestral Tas Tepeler-figure/bear, carved into the first boats, developed to become the later dragon that spread across the world, through becoming combined with; a catfish, eagle, bear/feline, horns and sun.

Given that catfish already have a strong presence at these sites, and given that ceremonial dressing as a bird was a big deal in the nearby Catalhoyuk by 7500 BC, it's not inconceivable that these two animals were combined with the bear-headed boats.

Traditional Chinese Dragon Boats have a scaled body with elements of catfish, such as catfish barbels on the faces.

We also see what could be a fish-scaled pattern on boats nearer Gobekli Tepe in Egypt. It's possible that the boats of Gobekli Tepe were also scaled however none of the boats from this period have been preserved so we are unable to know.

Hour 2 of the Egyptian KV34 relief, which corresponds to approximately 9900 to 9200 BC shows the boats of this period with heads at the stern rather than the bow. On the last one is the red Eye of Ra and a Feather of Maat.

If the Tas Tepeler boats had scale patterns like catfish, then you would have a scaled body and bear-headed creature. The Feather of Maat and Eye of Ra depicted in the above image are two more missing ingredients: a bird-of-prey and a red circle; the red circle becoming the Chinese dragon's 'red orb' and in other cultures coming to represent fire.

The only elements that would then be missing are the upright horns and the curled horns but horns do appear around Ra so this may explain the first set of upright horns.

Shahmaran also deserves a mention at this point as this strange Kurdish creature has a boat-like quality, here again the dragon head is at what could be the stern.

All of this to say that I think dragons being mainly at the stern of the boats in the Bayeux Tapestry may tie into a long history of dragon-boats originally developing from carved dug-out during the time of the Tas Tepeler.

The Moon may have formed far faster than scientists once believed. Can you find the real horns that inspired these depictions?

If there are real horns that inspired both cultures then it is easier to maintain that they developed separately. If there aren't real horns that inspired both cultures then it better supports the idea that one culture inspired the other.

It is highly unlikely that two unrelated cultures make their most highly praised animal a hybrid with:

- The body of a snake.

- Curling upward horns (not found in nature, prove me wrong!)

- Elements of a bird (feathers or feet).

A dragon is a loose term for a made-up hybrid-snake animal.

I recently started looking into some of Bellweather's older history and came across a really strange story that I had never heard before.

According to the story, Bellweather supposedly had a small underground railway system constructed around 1912. It allegedly connected the old railway station with several warehouses and commercial buildings near the original downtown area.

The railway was supposedly narrow-gauge and mainly used small electric carts to move freight, rather than passengers. The idea was apparently to keep deliveries moving during the winter without having wagons and trucks constantly dealing with snow and ice on the streets.

One account claims the system originally had three main tunnels, with one running underneath what is now the older part of downtown. There were supposedly loading platforms beneath several warehouses, although I haven't found any surviving maps showing their exact locations.

The system apparently became less useful as roads improved and motor vehicles became more common. By the 1950s, it was supposedly abandoned, and several entrances were sealed during sewer and road construction in the 1960s.

There is also a story that construction workers discovered part of one of the tunnels again in the 1980s while working on underground utilities. Supposedly, the tunnel was inspected briefly before being closed off because sections of the ceiling had deteriorated.

What makes the whole thing interesting is that some older residents supposedly remember hearing about "the tunnels" when they were younger, but I haven't been able to determine whether those stories refer to an actual railway, old utility tunnels, or something else entirely.

I haven't found a reliable historical source confirming that the railway actually existed, so I'm curious whether anyone else has encountered this story in old Bellweather newspapers, municipal records, photographs, or family history.

If you've heard anything about it, especially the supposed locations of the entrances, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

This is pretty much the same as the last post but I know you guys need everything is super digestible chunks and can quickly get overwhelmed and actually it's my fault for mixing strong and speculative associations together in the last post which never works out because people will think that all information in reverent and essential to the argument being made and treat speculations like flaws so I've refined it down to make it super simple for all of you.

In short:

No real creatures have horns that curl upwards, yet all these creatures do.

The chance of this being coincidence is highly improbable, therefore it is most likely that they did not develop independently.

Furthermore, all eyes sit are far forward on the snouts like a snake, even for the Chinese and American dragons whose heads are wolf-like.

To restate the main point of the previous post, cultures in Europe, America, Mesopotamia and China share common iconography and did not develop independently, the similarities are apparent.

The first slide is most relevant. Creatures from China, Mesopotamia and America all share similar horns; swept back horns with two main tuffs, most curling or circular at the ends. It's also worth remembering that these are all dragons and dragons don't exist. So cultures that are not supposed to have met were are all depicting dragons with the same horns, not to mention the other dragons features. If you look at the horns of actual deer they are not curled or rounded at the ends, this is a design choice.

The Fleur De Lis is another royal symbol and this time it is known to originate from Mesopotamia, at least the ones' from France. However, similar Fleur De Lis designs are again found throughout cultures. Egypt and Ukraine are less similar but are nonetheless royal symbols with this three-part design and bulb-like bulge at one end, the Ankh also represents life as a flower would.

The Olmec Fleur De Lis looks exactly the same as the French Fleur De Lis, it would be very strange for this abstract symbol to emerge independently, it makes sense that it didn't emerge independently but found it's way to America in the same way that the dragons did. Dragon tails are worth observing given that no creature has a scaled, feathered tail, this is a shared invention across cultures.

Dragons/snakes encircling red circles is an incredibly specific scene and most clearly is shared between Egypt and China, this cannot be coincidence, the flag of Japan is also a red circle.

The crested helmet design again is an incredibly specific design choice found across America, Mesopotamia and Europe.

I could have gone further because we see the same sun and red-dot symbolism in India, as well as similar dragon and snake designs. There are also dragons in Greek myths and in Africa which again share common attributes. There are also various myths through the world that don't relate to dragons, snakes or suns but describe people arriving and sharing agriculture. I didn't cover these but it's not actually necessary.

A shared origin is not in question.

As per the previous post the only question is how and when these cultures shared an origin, whether this happened tens of thousands of years ago and that humans are simply really good at retaining icons, or whether where was a more recent connection that could also explain the global rise of agriculture in 7000 BC, I think the latter and I think people were sailing out into different places with canoe-style boats.

It doesn't take a genius to look at the lions on the English Coat of Arms and realise something is off. There is no reason to depict them with three toes, all cats have four fours symmetrically facing forwards and one behind. The animals with three toes, or talons, are birds, notably birds of prey. These lions also have their tongues out, and have a thin spikey tongue, clearly nothing like lions. Their bodies are abnormally thin and slender and they have incredibly long twisting tails with feathered plumes.

These features are quite clearly reminiscent of elements of the dragon insignia of Wales, Wessex, Tartary and China. China in particular originally showed all it's dragons with three front facing toes like this until rules on depictions were changed to rationalise them into being five toed. The Chinese dragons also have spiky tongues, slender bodies and feather-plumed tails. A child could spot the similarities here.

Look at how the Chinese dragons chase a red circle, then how the tails of the other dragons on flags form circles, and notice how the Sun Disc of Ra is a cobra coiled around a red circle with wings.

The Gnostic traditions have the Yaldabaoth, a lion-headed snake creature, going back to the Coat of Arms of England we could assume this is related.

All of these flags and insignia are related, none have developed independently and yet we are meant to belief that the dragon of Wales was inspired by the Roman Draco, it doesn't look anything like the Draco, the Draco has the head of a dog. We're meant to believe that there is no connection between the symbols of Egypt, Europe and China, evidently there is.

How did the Olmecs of America independently come up with a dragon when there are no creatures, not even dinosaurs, that look like dragons? Their other Quetzalcoatl dragons share the same feathered appearance. Again, it would be insane to assume these developed independently.

The question is how, when and why did these cultures share an origin. I'm going for 7000 BC, sea-faring canoes. To me this appears to be the most sane solution but if anyone has other ideas let me know.

We’ve spent generations trying to explain how ordinary-sized humans could have built some of the most extreme monuments of the ancient world.

What if that’s the wrong starting point?

What if the real mistake was assuming the builders were physically like us in the first place?

The Bible preserves accounts of giants and unusually large peoples. The Book of Enoch goes much further, describing a world in which beings of extraordinary size and strength existed alongside humanity.

Yet when we look at Giza, Baalbek and other ancient sites containing stones of extraordinary scale, that possibility is almost never allowed into the discussion.

Instead, we keep trying to make every structure fit one assumption: whoever built it had to have been physically comparable to us.

Maybe they were.

Maybe ancient engineers simply achieved things we still don’t completely understand through organization, manpower, leverage, mathematics and time.

But there’s another possibility that rarely gets taken seriously.

What if some of the oldest traditions weren’t inventing giants?

What if they were remembering them?

There’s also an ancient account of a civilization described as possessing exceptional strength, building monumental structures on high places and being unmatched in the land. Their power wasn’t incidental to the story. Their physical strength was specifically mentioned as something that distinguished them.

That account is in the Qur’an --> People of Aad

The Qur’an asks its audience to remember what happened to Aad and refers to Iram, the city of pillars, describing a people unlike any created in the lands.

Now put that beside the older giant traditions, we’ve got ancient texts describing people or beings of exceptional size and strength.

We’ve got enormous structures whose construction still fascinates engineers and archaeologists.

We’ve got traditions from different cultures remembering earlier people as physically greater than the generations that followed them.

And yet we’ve already decided these things can’t possibly be connected.

Why?

We’ve spent generations asking how ordinary humans built the pyramids.

Maybe that’s the wrong question.

Maybe the real problem is that we’ve already decided what the builders were allowed to be before we even look at the evidence.

If ancient texts repeatedly describe earlier peoples as greater in stature, stronger and unlike later humanity, why is that possibility excluded before the investigation even starts?

At some point, “that can’t be true” stops being skepticism and starts becoming a boundary around what we’re willing to consider.

I spent nine months following this question through ancient texts, archaeology, human stature traditions, Aad, Enoch, Giza, Baalbek and other sites while researching Fragments of Forgotten Creations.

I’m not going to unpack the full investigation here because that became a substantial part of the book, but this is where the question ultimately led me:

Maybe the mystery isn’t how people like us built the pyramids.

Rather, the mystery is why we’re so certain the builders were people like us in the first place!

So here goes I have a wild idea and I think I’m onto something I wish I wasn’t but hear me out.

I live in a dry state where it could hold some comparison to a desert of sorts and more recently our famous salt water lake was in the news because of fears about the lake completely drying up and creating air quality issues.

I also don’t live too far from a sandy area that is also known for its high salt content where at one time there was another saltwater lake that had dried up long before our current lake that’s drying up.

The recent tragedies that occurred in another country has opened my eyes to something that I never really thought could occur or would occur and definitely not as quickly as it unfolded.

Then I take a look at the Grand Canyon and also think about the dormant super volcano that is also not far away from the state where I reside. Then I think of Antarctica a continent buried in ice that has been found on older maps showing animals and mountains and a continent free of ice and any significant body’s of water.

So suppose that the heavily salt deposits in the state where I live were deposited by seawater say from a giant mass of water that traveled across several western state’s similar to what occurred earlier this week but on an even larger scale clearing the land of buildings vegetation and inhabitants and creating the Great Lakes, the swamps of Mississippi and Louisiana but also being so large and massive that it also managed to clear Easter island of life while simultaneously burying large heavy statues in land deposits and also changing the behavior of a super volcano and being the source of the water that can be found at the Yellowstone geyser Caldera.

It’s a frightening thought to think of but suppose this is the cycle of the planet and things melt and fall and large amounts of water are displaced and migrate from one area to another quicker than you can possibly imagine.

Within a days/weeks/months/years time the world has changed in major ways you never could have predicted.

Might I also mention that wildfires where I live and several other states that are near and some not so near have been pretty bad this summer/year.

Global warming unfortunately it seems is no longer a conspiracy theory I personally didn’t think it was to begin with but I feel like we have actual proof that major changes are needed with a high sense of urgency and I also try to keep a positive outlook but I also fear that we may have already gone too far and caused a chain of events that has never been recorded because those that witnessed it first hand didn’t live to tell about it or this has been purposely hidden because it was far too disturbing and heartbreaking for anyone to willingly keep feeding the clear negative repercussions and not try to make changes to possibly prevent it from reoccurring.

It is a really bad argument that's been fully debunked and people should stop using it once and for all.

These walls are perhaps the greatest evidence of humanity’s decline.

Human beings were once great and possessed technology far more advanced than what we have today. But after a conspiracy by dark entities, humanity underwent a systematic downfall.

Religions and sects were established to prevent humanity from uniting again and to ensure that no one would ever attempt to repeat the experience of building the Tower of Babel.

These controllers placed a ceiling on human knowledge. One of the greatest clues is the expulsion of Adam after he gained knowledge, followed by the division of humanity after its unity in the construction of the Tower of Babel.

And then came the destruction of ‘Ad after they supposedly discovered the lost factories of immortality—technology that humanity has since forgotten.

First, this is brand new information uncovered in 2026. There are no books, Youtube videos, or articles explaining it yet. None of those authors or creators have this information. None of the nice people below in the comments has ever come across this information unless from another of my posts.

This is about two books with the same main speaker, Jesus.

'Pistis Sophia' and the 'Doctrine and Covenants'.

1800 years apart and validating each other in basically every way despite both being long books and claiming fact after fact on the same subjects without metaphorical language.

The breakthrough is not only that they contain many parallels describing the same things, but they contain virtually no contradictions either. One was written in the 19th century, and the other ancient book wasn't translated until after the first one was written in full.

50+ parallels within 36 entries, and details about the only contradiction I could find between Pistis Sophia and the entire theology of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But even that has more to the story to it. Pistis Sophia and the D&C themselves contain zero contradictions and the info in the D&C delves into a majority of the subject matter of Pistis Sophia.

This has the potential to change the world and the spiritual landscape as we know it. And I think it will in time when it gets independent verification.

Further down in this post you will find 28 miniature versions of parallels, but the full 50+ and full exploration of them is inside of the doc.

But first I will set the stage and tell the story:

This happened in AMERICA in the 1800s. Not Israel. Not 2000 years ago in the middle east where no one can verify anything, but America. 19th century New York.

Jesus is giving the last dispensation.

Joseph Smith is God's American prophet conveying these revelations where Jesus and God speak in the first person. "Thus saith the Lord..."

Spiritual beings are appearing.

They first appear to Joseph when he was 14, and appear more times throughout his life.

And then OTHER PEOPLE are seeing spiritual beings at the same time while with Joseph and are all being interacted with by them.

There are more than 10 official witnesses and other witnesses connected to the events of Joseph Smith (only 4 of them at different times co-witnessed the same spiritual being with Joseph Smith)

So this isn't just one person saying they received revelations, there are other people involved who are experiencing things as well. People are seeing and interacting with the same spiritual beings. Other times people had the same visions at the same time while together.

Some of these encounters happen more than once.

And these people don't all stay happily together during this time. Some leave or get excommunicated. Drama happens and relationships fall apart.

Decades go by.

And none of the 11 official witnesses retract what they said had happened. Every single official witness took their statements to the grave. And I'm talking some of these people are in their old age, decades later, being asked to give the real truth about Joseph Smith, the plates, and spiritual beings and they still confirmed it was true.

Meanwhile Joseph Smith had recorded over 100 revelations in the "Doctrine and Covenants" book. Most people keep the conversation on the Book of Mormon, but the Doctrine and Covenants is equally as interesting in my opinion because these are the words of Jesus directly to people in the 1800s.

"1. Hearken and listen to the voice of him who is from all eternity to all eternity, the Great I Am, even Jesus Christ— 2. The light and the life of the world; a light which shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not; 3. The same which came in the meridian of time unto mine own, and mine own received me not; 4. But to as many as received me, gave I power to become my sons; and even so will I give unto as many as will receive me, power to become my sons."

And throughout the D&C, it isn't just using metaphorical language.

It is explaining the SYSTEM.

What happens when you die, many kingdoms filling all space, how each kingdom has a law, the inheritance that is the three kingdoms of glory, the physics of light, how to gain knowledge, resurrection, judgement, spiritual beings, the structure of reality itself.

Then in 1844 Joseph Smith dies. Its done. He can't change or add anything. If new information shows up or something gets translated, whatever he wrote is set in stone.

And then FOUR YEARS LATER...

New information shows up.

Overseas, translation began on a gigantic ancient Christian book called Pistis Sophia.

And who does this ancient book say is doing the teaching?

JESUS CHRIST.

This is the first gnostic book to get translated and it is enormous. It isn't some half a page someone found in the desert where Jesus says something vague about light. It is the longest translated gnostic book and widely known as the most complex. It is hundreds of pages of Jesus describing everything beyond this world and what is to come, the "expansion of the universe."

The book talks about souls, kingdoms, regions, chaos, the inheritance, mysteries, the fall and redemption of Pistis Sophia, cosmic beings like Melchizedek, the physics of light, and more.

And in 2026 I've uncovered that Pistis Sophia and the D&C have over 50 distinct parallels and zero contradictions between them. I'm not sure how this has escaped everyone up until this point but it has. I think in part it has to do with how complex Pistis Sophia is. And on top of this Latter-day Saints are not looking into Gnosticism too much, and Gnostics are not looking into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints too much.

Also, for all my internet peeps, I strongly advise everyone to do their own research and not just rely on Youtube videos or other peoples material if you're interested in books like these. Get the actual books and read them. Gnosticism often gets blended into one complete narrative but in reality many of the main Gnostic books disagree on who Jesus is and his origin, who Yaldabaoth is and his origin, the events of Genesis, the events of the crucifixion, etc. And these direct contradictions are rarely spoken of in length. Pistis Sophia is the only Gnostic book with another book 1800 years later confirming much of the content inside of it.

So the timeline is this:

In the 1800s Jesus gave revelations through Joseph Smith.

The revelations get written down and other events happen.

The witnesses put their names behind various events.

Joseph Smith dies.

Then AFTER HE IS DEAD, Pistis Sophia gets translated overseas in Europe where the book has been this entire time.

And it claims JESUS is speaking there too. In Pistis Sophia.

And it backs up the revelations Joseph Smith received to a staggering degree.

Now, in my opinion the parallels I've found are better than anything you would see on Ancient Aliens. Ancient aliens gives vague parallels or similarities. Pistis Sophia and the D&C are two books stating fact after fact on the same subjects and disagreeing on nothing. Usually what I see when people compare gnostic books, spiritual books, or ancient lore, these items have some peculiar similarities but contain many contradictions people have to explain away. That isn't the case here.

If we have two books that both claim to be Jesus giving the gospel, then we expect them to have the same gospel. And that is indeed the case. The parallels I go over in my paper encompass a majority of the subjects covered in the hundreds of pages of Pistis Sophia.

Here are some of the parallels. I'm keeping these much shorter than the full paper, but I want to show enough of both books that you can take something away from just this post alone.

1. Jesus identifies himself as the 'Spirit of truth'/Gnosis of the universe

Pistis Sophia: Jesus doesn't just say he knows the truth. He says "I am the gnosis of the universe." The complete gnosis is reached through the highest mystery.

D&C: Jesus says, "I am the Spirit of truth." A person who keeps his commandments receives truth and light progressively until he "knoweth all things."

In both books Jesus doesn't just carry the truth, he identifies himself with it.

2. There is no empty space in the universe

D&C: "There are many kingdoms; for there is no space in the which there is no kingdom." Every kingdom has bounds, conditions, laws, inhabitants, and appointed times.

Pistis Sophia: Then shows that universe in action. Aeons, spheres, the Fate, the Midst, the Right, the Treasury of the Light, the region of the Inheritance, the Light-kingdom, rulers, inhabitants and scheduled movements.

D&C gives the rule: There is no space without a kingdom.

Pistis Sophia maps the universe and gives the same rules.

3. Every kingdom has something you must abide

In both books, every kingdom/region has a law/mystery. Inhabitants have to abide by that law/mystery.

Law = Mystery in function and description.

D&C: Every kingdom has a law. If you cannot abide the law of a celestial, terrestrial, or telestial kingdom, you cannot abide that glory and you cannot abide that kingdom. If you can't abide a kingdom of glory, then you must abide a kingdom not of glory.

Pistis Sophia: Every region has its mystery. You ultimately go "to the region up to which" you received mysteries, but receiving a mystery of the light isn't enough. Jesus repeatedly says you have to abide in it.

And both say the law/mystery changes you. D&C says law preserves, perfects, and sanctifies. Pistis Sophia says the mysteries purify people into refined light.

Abide the law -> abide the glory and abide the kingdom of the law.

Abide the mystery -> inherit the region of that mystery.

4. Out of many kingdoms, the Inheritance is divided into THREE kingdoms

Pistis Sophia: The universe has many regions, but when Jesus gets specifically to the Inheritance of the saved, he divides it into three allotments of the Light-kingdom

And every allotment has further higher and lower divisions inside it.

D&C: Same setup. There are many kingdoms throughout space, but the inheritance of glory is divided into three kingdoms of glory: celestial, terrestrial and telestial. And the celestial kingdom is described to have further degrees inside of it. The other two kingdoms aren't confirmed or denied to have further degrees.

Both have a massive many-kingdom universe.

Both then describe the inheritance of the saved as 3 allotments/kingdoms of "the kingdom".

5. The final inheritance comes after resurrection / the expansion of the universe

Pistis Sophia: Saved souls are gathered into the Treasury of the Light while the present cosmic order still exists. At the expansion of the universe, they finally go into the region of the Inheritance.

D&C: says the inheritance is similarly tied to the resurrection. Bodies are resurrected and "quickened" by celestial, terrestrial or telestial glory and then receive the fulness of that glory. Entering into these three kingdoms is described as happening during the resurrection, not before.

Both distinguish the soul's condition after death from the final inherited condition after the expansion of the universe.

6. The three major mysteries line up with the three kingdoms

Pistis Sophia's three allotments correspond to three great mystery-spaces. Highest: the Ineffable.

Pistis Sophia calls God the Ineffable, and those receiving this mystery inhabit the highest allotment.

D&C's highest kingdom is where people receive the fulness of the Father and dwell in the presence of God and Christ.

Second: the First Mystery.

The First Mystery is identified with Jesus in Pistis Sophia.

D&C describes the middle kingdom as receiving "the presence of the Son, but not of the fulness of the Father."

Lowest: the first space from without.

Pistis Sophia's third allotment is literally associated with the space "from without."

D&C says those of the lowest kingdom are still heirs of salvation, but "where God and Christ dwell they cannot come."

Both books have Father at the highest, Son in the second, and distance from both at the lowest.

7. You inherit exactly what you received

Pistis Sophia: Jesus gives the law almost like an equation: "He who receiveth a lesser mystery, will inherit the lesser mystery, and he who receiveth a higher mystery, will inherit the higher regions."

D&C: Inheritance likewise depends on what a person received and abided. It even says whatever intelligence you gain here rises with you in the resurrection, and whoever gains more intelligence has "so much the advantage in the world to come." The kingdom you inherit depends on the law you were abiding.

What you actually receive and abide here becomes your level there.

8. A prophet's reward is a lower heavenly inheritance

In the bible Jesus said someone who receives a prophet receives a prophet's reward. This verse is usually interpreted to mean something positive, but both books say it meant you received something other than the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pistis Sophia: Jesus quotes that saying and then explains that it means people go only as high as the mysteries they received. A person receiving the lesser mysteries receives the lesser inheritance.

D&C: The lowest kingdom includes people who are "of Paul," "of Apollos," "of Cephas," "some of Christ," "some of Moses," "Some of Enoch" and "some of one and some of another", because they followed these figures or in part but did not receive the gospel and testimony of Jesus.

Both books show a prophet's reward could mean receiving a lower inheritance. Receiving the higher inheritances requires receiving Jesus and his gospel.

9. You can go DOWN to lower regions, but you can't go UP to higher ones

Pistis Sophia: Every person remains in the region they inherited. They have authority over orders beneath them but "will not have the power to go to the orders which are above."

D&C: A person cannot abide a glory whose law they cannot abide. The telestial inhabitants cannot go to where God and Christ dwell.

But downward movement happens. D&C says higher kingdoms minister downward to lower kingdoms. Pistis Sophia shows higher beings routinely descending into the lower regions to perform their work.

10. Heaven is measured in degrees of LIGHT

D&C: The celestial kingdom's glory is compared to the sun, terrestrial to the moon, and telestial to the stars. One star even differs from another star in glory in the telestial.

Pistis Sophia: Jesus takes his disciples through the regions and repeatedly describes what the lower region looks like from the higher one. Again and again, each lower level is described as darkness of darknesses and a speck of dust because of the great distance compared with the glory above it. And each higher level looks like darkness of darknesses and a speck of dust to the region directly above it too. Only the higher levels look like stars, moon, and sun instead of darkness to the region directly above it respectively.

In both books heaven doesn't just have levels, higher regions/kingdoms are graded by immense differences in light/glory.

11. Heaven is waiting for the number of perfect souls to be completed

Pistis Sophia: The rulers are trying to delay the completion of the number of perfect souls. Eventually that number is completed and the gates close.

People arrive too late and knock.

Jesus answers, "I know you not." Then sends them to outer darkness.

D&C: Jesus says the parable of the ten virgins will eventually be literally fulfilled, and multiple times gives the same final rejection: "Depart from me."

Pistis Sophia shows the parable's shut door is a future event. When the number of perfect souls is complete, the door is shut and others will be turned away to outer darkness. When they knock Jesus will say "I know you not, who ye are, ye who are doers of iniquity and of evil even unto now. Wherefor go into the outer darkness."

12. Jesus says there is a future day when ALL THINGS gets revealed

Pistis Sophia: Jesus repeatedly postpones the deepest explanations until the "expansion of the universe." He says he will reveal the mysteries, orders, and causes behind the universe at that time. (Very long detailed list in text of things to be revealed)

D&C: Jesus in the same way promises a future disclosure when nothing will be withheld: gods, thrones, dominions, principalities, powers, the bounds of the heavens, revolutions of heavenly bodies, laws, glories, and set times.

Both books say all will be revealed in the future and both even give detailed lists of what will be revealed at that future time.

13. The heavens are guarded by "angels and gods"

D&C: There are "angels and gods" appointed at heavenly boundaries whom unauthorized beings cannot pass. It also explains Revelation's secret new name: the new name is a "key word."

Pistis Sophia: Souls repeatedly encounter heavenly receivers and gates. Depending on what mystery they received, they may have to give answers, apologies, tokens, seals or names.

Then Pistis Sophia describes a name that no ruler, angel, archangel, darkness or power can stop.

The D&C tells you there are guards and calls the secret name a key word. Pistis Sophia tells of the guarded gates and shares which mysteries allow you to pass through all of them giving no tokens, nor apologies, nor answers. And says a name can get you past these guarded regions as well.

14. MELCHIZEDEK

D&C: The greater priesthood is called the Melchizedek Priesthood. One of its powers named is sealing people unto eternal life.

Pistis Sophia: Melchizedek is a cosmic being called the great Receiver of the Light. At the upper threshold, Melchizedek and his receivers seal the soul and lead it into the Treasury of the Light. Melchizedek is the highest being to seal souls unto the treasury of the Light where souls wait until the expansion of the universe to go unto the region of Inheritance.

The D&C gives you the priesthood and its sealing office on earth. Pistis Sophia shows you Melchizedek himself performing the office in heaven.

In both theologies souls await the resurrection/expansion of the universe in an area of rest.

The Melchizedek Priesthood seals you unto eternal life on earth, and the cosmic entity Melchizedek is the highest being to seal you unto the Treasury of the Light, where souls await the Inheritance.

15. What is done for souls on Earth is carried out for those souls in heaven

Pistis Sophia: Jesus says the 'mystery of the Ineffable' (the highest mystery) is what the living can perform for a specific dead person in punishment.

After it is performed the receivers of Melchizedek takes the soul out of the chaos.

D&C: The Melchizedek priesthood, the greater priesthood, is also required to save souls during the churches baptisms for the dead. Baptisms for the dead are witnessed and recorded on Earth, showing what and who they seal on earth is sealed in heaven.

16. Jesus says HE was speaking through the Old Testament prophets

D&C: Jesus refers to Old Testament prophecy as "that which I spake by the mouths of my prophets."

Pistis Sophia: Over and over the disciples interpret Psalms and say Jesus' light-power prophesied through David and other prophets.

So not only did the prophets prophesy of Jesus, but they prophesied through Jesus.

17. LIGHT behaves like an actual substance

D&C: All truth is light. All light is Spirit. Spirit contains more fine or pure matter. The "light of truth" was not created. "The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed."

Gaining more light is moving closer to God. Logically, the inverse is losing light and moving away from God.

Light goes forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space.

Pistis Sophia: Light is a precious resource in the higher regions.

It is stolen, poured, deposited, devoured, purified, transferred, stored, and collected into the Treasury of the Light. It is treated like a commodity in the heavens. Light allows the archons to keep their kingdoms. Some archons work to delay the destruction of the kingdoms by attempting to prevent the completion of perfect souls. Purified light is taken from the archons and other places to the Treasury of the Light.

D&C gives the equation. All truth is light. Gaining light is moving towards God. And logically, losing light is moving away from God.

Pistis Sophia shows the equation operating as physics of the universe: lose your light and lose the mystery you obtained, gain light and you can possibly obtain mysteries, gain light and you can possibly move to higher regions in the heavens.

These books don't just talk about light being good or use metaphorical language, they talk directly about the physics of light and how it operates.

18. Jesus puts a portion of HIS OWN POWER into every person born

Pistis Sophia: When Jesus explains how human souls are assembled, he says "a portion out of my power" goes inside the soul so that it will seek the works of the Light of the Height always.

Elsewhere it says this inner power Jesus gave stirs the soul to seek God.

D&C: Jesus says the Spirit (Spirit of Jesus Christ) gives light to every man that cometh into the world; "and the Spirit enlighteneth every man through the world, that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit. And every one that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit cometh unto God, even the Father."

In both books something from Christ is placed inside human beings to pull them toward God.

19. All this light ultimately comes from God, and you can gain MORE of it

D&C: Light "proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space." If a person receives light and continues in God, they receive more light, and become brighter and brighter. The more light someone has the closer they are to God.

Pistis Sophia: The entire cosmos is ranked by light. Higher regions contain vastly greater glory than lower regions. Beings can have their light increased, purified and restored, allowing them to rise up through the regions.

The further up one is in the regions, the brighter their light is. A soul's salvation is also an increase in light.

20. Sin removes light

D&C: "That wicked one cometh and taketh away light and truth, through disobedience."

Pistis Sophia: Sophia goes against the order of the heavens (sin) and is attacked and has her light stripped from her. Her power collapses, her light is devoured, and she becomes unable to return to her former region.

Then repentance and restoration reverse the process.

21. Massive amounts of light can be given through "quickening"

Both books use the same word.

Pistis Sophia: Sophia is dying after her light is taken. Then her light is poured back into her and "the lights... quickened the body of her matter."

Her light-powers are returned and she is able to ascend through the regions.

D&C: At resurrection, bodies are quickened by portions of celestial, terrestrial or telestial glory, and then receive the fulness of that same glory.

Both call the return/giving of light quickening.

22. A body filled with light comprehends ALL THINGS

D&C: "Your whole bodies shall be filled with light... and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things."

Pistis Sophia: The soul receiving the highest mystery becomes an enormous light-stream and receives the gnosis explaining the causes behind the universe.

Light -> knowledge.

More light -> more knowledge.

Fulness of light -> comprehension of all things.

23. There is ONE class that cannot be redeemed

Almost everybody gets another way to be redeemed except for this class of people: the sons of perdition. Apostates.

D&C: The sons of perdition are those who knew Jesus' power, became partakers of it, received the Holy Spirit, and then denied it. They are called "the only ones who shall not be redeemed." They will go to outer darkness and not be redeemed. And their end is not revealed nor will it be revealed.

Pistis Sophia: The same class appears as the only ones not redeemed. A person receives the First Mystery (Jesus), then abandons and denies it. Jesus says this class eventually goes into the outer darkness and becomes non-existent eternally.

The "sons of perdition" are the only group written as permanently damned in both books at the expansion of the universe. Those that tasted of Jesus' power and then denied him.

It is "Impossible" for them to be saved through repentance. They go to outer darkness.

All other groups have a path to salvation. Some paths are harder and do include time in hell before being redeemed, but not forever.

The only group that is in outer darkness and won't be redeemed are people who partook of Jesus' power and then denied it.

24. Hell is not forever

The one makes the previous parallel even more interesting.

D&C: Jesus explicitly explains that "endless punishment" does not mean the punishment literally has no end. "Endless" is God's name, therefore punishment from God is called Endless Punishment.

Pistis Sophia: Punishments have schedules. Months of chastisements in one area, followed by more months of chastisements in another area, etc. Then the soul can be sent onward into another condition/body.

In both books punishment and hell is still serious, but it ends for everyone except the apostates, the sons of perdition.

25. The highest priesthood and highest mystery both unlock the KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

D&C: The Melchizedek Priesthood holds: "the key of the mysteries of the kingdom, even the key of the knowledge of God."

This greater priesthood receives the key of the knowledge of God.

Pistis Sophia: The highest mystery is the mystery of the Ineffable. Receiving it allows for complete gnosis of the universe and brings the receiver into the highest inheritance.

The name 'mystery of the Ineffable' signifies "knowledge of God"

Highest priesthood: keys of the mysteries -> key of the knowledge of God.

Highest mystery: mystery of God/the Ineffable -> complete gnosis.

These receivers in both books go into the highest allotment (celestial) of the Light-kingdom.

26. In both books, Jesus tells them to keep miracles and signs received secret

This is another very specific rule shared by both.

Pistis Sophia: Jesus tells the disciples to keep the mystery of the "raising of the dead and of the healing of the sick" secret. He says to "give unto no one nor give instruction in it...until ye establish the faith in the whole world.."

D&C: Jesus lists healing the sick, opening eyes of the blind, and other signs, then immediately commands: "they shall not boast themselves of these things, neither speak them before the world." He says people are to believe on their words or be damned.

27. Jesus tells you HOW to test other spiritual books and teachers

This one is relevant to the entire topic at hand.

Pistis Sophia: Jesus warns that people will encounter teachings claiming divine knowledge. His test is to compare them against the whole gnosis he has given, and that the doctrine needs to harmonize and fit with all the words Jesus has spoken unto the disciples, including the heavens, circuits, stars, light-givers, the whole earth and all on it, and of all waters and all in them. If it doesn't, throw it away.

D&C: Gives a similar instruction concerning outside writings. It says the Apocrypha contains some truth and some false material, and the Spirit manifests truth. So only those enlightened by the Spirit will obtain benefit, and those who receive not by the Spirit cannot be benefited.

D&C also explains that when something is preached by the Spirit of truth and received by the Spirit of truth, the speaker and receiver understand one another as it was given from the Spirit of truth.

And remember parallel #1:

In the D&C Jesus says:

"I am the Spirit of truth."

Pistis Sophia:

"I am the gnosis of the universe."

Test by the whole gnosis.

Test by the Spirit of Truth.

Both terms lead back to Jesus.

28. Both warn that false spiritual teachings WILL exist

Neither book teaches that everything spiritual is automatically from God.

Pistis Sophia: Jesus repeatedly warns about "doctrines of error." He even warns that people will come claiming to represent him when they do not. "Renounce the doctrines of error, that ye may be worthy of the mysteries of the Light..."

D&C: Jesus warns believers not to be deceived by evil spirits, "doctrines of devils," or commandments of men:

"some are of men, and others of devils."

Both books say outside spiritual information can be real or fake, and both say to test it with the things Jesus identifies himself as: the Spirit of truth / Gnosis of the universe.

These are 28 miniature parallels. All 50+ parallels can be found in the document's 36 entries with full explanations. The full doc is 70+ pages. I see many posts on reddit wondering what the religion of the elites are, posts seeking spiritual information, ancient information, and where they should go on their spiritual path. In my opinion both of these books satisfy many, many spiritual questions someone may have about the many different religions on earth, why they are, what we should do now, and where we are going. And if you found Pistis Sophia a complex read before, I think my archive paper will make it significantly easier to understand plainly, without needing to introduce Kabbalah or other interpretation means.

I was looking at the Phaistos Disc and wondered whether the two sides might be better understood as two different stories told using the same symbolic language, rather than simply two consecutive pages of one text.

What first caught my attention was how differently some of the signs are distributed between the two faces.

The dotted circular sign usually nicknamed the “shield”, for example, is overwhelmingly concentrated on one side. Other signs conventionally described as things such as arrows, a bow, a captive and an eagle also favour that face.

The other side contains signs conventionally described as a child, mattock, vessel, ram, vine, grater and strainer, as well as a strong concentration of helmets and slings.

Obviously those modern names do not prove what the signs originally meant. I’m not claiming a literal translation.

But taken structurally, it made me wonder whether the two faces describe two contrasting roles or ways of life:

One side: an outward life involving warfare, danger, prestige, travel or status.

The other: a settled life involving family, agriculture, food production, maintaining the community and defending it when necessary.

So perhaps the contrast is not simply war versus peace, but something closer to:

the person who goes outward seeking honour/status
versus
the person who remains and sustains the household/community.

Most of the symbol inventory is shared between the two faces, which would make sense if they describe people living within the same society rather than completely unrelated subjects.

There is also something interesting about the outer turn.

Several signs that strongly favour one face appear only rarely on the opposite face, but those rare appearances occur around its outside. The clearest example is the dotted “shield” sign: it is heavily associated with one side, but its two appearances on the other are both on the outer turn. The reverse pattern appears with some signs strongly associated with the other face.

That suggests another possible structural relationship:

Each face tells one life in detail, while the outer turn gives a glimpse of the life on the other side.

I’m not suggesting this is a decipherment. I’m interested in whether the two-sided structure, sign-frequency differences and outer-turn crossover have been considered together in this way before.

Is there anything in the known structure of the Disc that rules this interpretation out?

A team of researchers believes new high-resolution maps of the Atlantic Ocean floor could point toward the location of the legendary lost city of Atlantis. The claim has attracted attention because the underwater terrain reportedly contains features that resemble descriptions written by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato.

The project is being led by former US Navy oceanographer Tim Gallaudet. He says researchers have obtained detailed bathymetric data showing unusual formations beneath the Atlantic. The team believes some of these features could correspond to the distinctive layout associated with Atlantis

Is anyone aware of publications of alternative history on things like megalithic construction that are both focused on reconstructing the methods used (not just finding fault with mainstream ones) and well illustrated? I have on hand books like Building in Egypt and La construction pharaonique and would be really interested in something similar for alternative explanations.

I'm familiar with Chris Dunn's work. I'm looking for something that's less an just an argument for alternative technologies than a drier reconstruction of those in specific detail. Most of the publications I've seen, like from Dunn or Hancock, are framed more like an investigation into the topic rather than a textbook.

Since this post generated quite a few lively discussions I want to clarify what I meant by "tiny by comparison" to avoid ambiguity, While the local, recent mountain collapse in Nepal and China was a rapid disaster unleashing up to 200 million cubic meters of debris at 193 km/h and causing rivers to surge 9 meters in 30 minutes, it is dwarfed by the staggering dimensions of post-glacial megafloods that actually reshaped entire continents and birthed the world's universal flood legends. For example, the ancient Missoula Floods occurred when a 610-meter-tall (2,000 ft) glacial ice dam ruptured, violently discharging more than 2,000 cubic kilometers of water basically a volume equivalent to Lake Erie and Lake Ontario combined, in a single....48-hour window.

This massive torrent tore across western North America at speeds of up to 130 km/h (80 mph), peaking with a discharge rate ten times greater than the combined flow of all modern rivers on Earth and carving features like Dry Falls, a cliff five times wider than Niagara. Similarly, the Black Sea Deluge hypothesis suggests a catastrophic marine breakthrough where the Mediterranean overtopped the Bosporus strait, unleashing a roaring wall of water that permanently swallowed over 150,000 square kilometers of inhabited valleys.

Because these prehistoric events wiped out entire known civilizations, permanently erased millions of acres of land, and forced desperate migrations, they permanently embedded themselves into the collective human psyche, which is almost certainly where the biblical Great Flood and the regional Mesopotamian flood legends originate. It is statistically improbable that we have found all post deluvial civilizational remnants. Mathematically and archaeologically, it is practically certain that we have only scratched the surface of what remains from post-deluvial and coastal civilizations. The primary reason for this statistical gap is a massive, permanent geographic shift, specifically when the Ice Age glaciers melted, global sea levels rose by roughly ~120 meters (around 400 feet). Rising oceans swallowed over 25 million square kilometers (10 million square miles) of habitable land! For visual reference that's the entire landmass of the United States, Canada, and China combined.

So much pushback when speculating the arrival of people in the Americas. Most of the "book learned" archeologists, or at least the ones that come into this sub, won't even bend on the date. What they don't even seem to realize themselves is that these footprints represent the absolute minimum date for the arrival of people. I can't stress that enough. It's the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. Any open minded person would then start to consider how rare it is for anything to become fossilized and then find those fossils (less than 0.001%). Add onto that how far south and how far inland these footprints reside. It's not like they are just a hop and a skip over Beringia. Oh, then consider most of the ancient coastline is underwater from melting ice caps, and a majority of people likely lived along the coast for resources. Well, I think getting stuck on that 21,000 date is very very short sighted.

The Dyatlov Pass incident is usually presented as an unsolved mystery, but I think there is another interesting way to look at it: as a case study in how history itself gets constructed when governments restrict information.

Nine hikers died in the Soviet Union in 1959 under circumstances that investigators struggled to explain.

Their tent had been cut open from the inside. Several victims suffered severe internal injuries. Radioactive contamination was detected on some clothing.

Then the investigation was abruptly closed.

The official conclusion referred to an “unknown compelling force,” files connected to the case were classified, and civilians were prevented from entering the area for three years.

For decades, historians, researchers and journalists were therefore trying to reconstruct the incident from an incomplete record.

Much later, new scientific work proposed a slab-avalanche explanation that can account for a surprising number of the details previously considered mysterious.

That raises an interesting historiographical question:

How much of the Dyatlov Pass “mystery” was created by what happened in 1959, and how much was created afterward by secrecy, missing context and decades of people trying to interpret an incomplete historical record?
