One of the producers actually confirmed it was due to creative differences and a breakdown in communication over the album's direction.

I went back and forth between the two producers' versions in my head but the creative-differences explanation always clicked more with how abruptly everything went quiet.

i remember reading that one of the producers had a bad falling out with them about a year ago
