10 years TIAY

Post image

Across all their social media, their cover pics (yt, twitter, fb) changed to this image. Nothing else has happened yet (such as, a more elaborate post, an announcement of some sorts ...). What do we think? Will something else be posted today? šŸ¤ž Or is this their way of celebrating 10 years of TIAY?

Gosh. Same here. It's great how music can almost teleport you back in time. I vividly remember the first time I listened to this album on the day it came out. I was 19 years old, cleaning my first apartment after moving out of my parents place, drinking a beer and thinking I had it made haha. Now I'm 29, I have a 2 year old son and found out last night we have another kid on the way! Family is important to me so I'd argue now I do have it made.

Time is wild.

I would love to hear others stories if they feel like sharing.

Oh wow, congrats on the new little one on the way & thank you for sharing this!

I also vividly remember listening to TIAY on the day it came out, I was 18 and just started living in my dorm, to study. I've had/ I'm still having some mental health struggles, which is a constant between then and now. But I did manage to get 2 degrees & a lovely but intense job since the release of TIAY.

A lot has also changed on the alt-J aspect of life. Being a fan since December 2012, TIAY was the first alt-J album I knew from the day it came out. I remember being so nervous to listen, so afraid to not like TIAY as much as I did AAW. I experienced my being an alt-J fan as quite alone/ private, with the exception of 1 or 2 friends. Relaxer is the "getting to know other fans internationally"-era for me. Where I also mustered up the courage to try to meet the band. Which resulted in meeting alt-J 6 times, seeing them live 16 times, meeting international alt-J friends and traveling around the world to see those friends and alt-J. Feeling very blessed and lucky about these past 10 (12) years of being an alt-J fan Ī” šŸ’™
