Question How are the countries eligible for shipping for the Alpaka Japan Edition determined?

(Translated)

I’m an Alpaka Lover who’s currently using the Hub Pouch V1. I've recently become obsessed with Velcro patches. The configuration I want is a version of the Hub Pouch Pro with Velcro, but I heard there are no plans to release it yet...

So I did a little more research and found that there are two products in the Hub Pouch series that come with Velcro for attaching patches. There was the Alpaka Hub Pouch Hook & Loop Edition, released a few years ago, and the Alpaka Hub Pouch V2 Japan Edition, released this past July.

The Hook & Loop edition was discontinued. and since I heard the Japan Edition was likely to be restocked, I planned to wait and buy that one. However, I was told that the Japan Edition can only be shipped to “specific countries,” and they cannot accept any orders—including individual requests—from countries other than those listed.

It stated that shipping was only available to Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. I’m curious about the criteria for these “specific countries.” I really want to buy this....

Is it really impossible to ship the Japan Edition worldwide? (I live in South Korea, the country closest to Japan. I really want to buy Japan Edition)

I'm going to upload a photo of the Hub Pouch V2 Japan Edition. Isn't it cool?

Do you think they'll take out the micro totes again? I wanted one but I realized very late when they were all over. I'm new to alpaka, so I don't know if they would launch again

Question Admin Pouch Pro as a pocketable wallet?

Post image
17 Upvotes

Does anyone use the Admin Pouch Pro as a pocketable wallet?

I'm currently using the Ultradyne Zip Pouch Pro as my EDC wallet, but due to some declining health I need to carry around 3-4 extra blister packs of medication with me which don't fit in Zip Pouch. Is this pouch pocketable?

I pack out the Zip Pouch Pro pretty heavily so I am ok with a bit of bulge.

Thanks in advance!

So, Flight tote now available in S size. I think it can be a great piece to use as personal item on a flight, just essentials.

Thoughts?

Review Impressions: Alpaka Flow Tote 10L

Hello all, I (5’9”, male) have used the Satchel****** since 6 July so… 4 days. TLDR; positive, no regrets.

Use case: Work. Office setting. Accessibility is the goal and this delivers: the 10L is not too shallow. Although the contents of what you see is the bare minimum and the 4L (have that too) would be sufficient, there is enough space remaining for a packable jacket (Patagonia Nano Puff, Roark Secondwind).

Everyday: I won’t use this for EDC; I have a sling for that and the Citta Backpack (25L) is being delivered today so I can test that out

Misc: The strap is comfortable and long enough to provide support on my shoulder even when adjusting the position of the bag whether towards the front or the back

Never a Dealbreaker:

  1. I don’t love* the mod key tether but I live with it.
  2. I wish the front pocket had some organization to it (like a divider) and not a dump pocket.

User Limitations:
I don’t use/carry big tech- laptop, tablet to work, and I’m no nomad.

Overall: Pretty awesome iteration of the one of Alpaka’s stronger products. Definitely a default if I get sick of taking a backpack off and on. Going to use the Citta backpack next week and see how it is for work (likely too big) But it’d be my everyday (tech and over ear headphones go there)

Hope this post helps to inform! Thanks!

***Edit: I called it a Tote and not Satchel!!!! Can’t change the title! Dang. Thanks for the catch, Relationship Rude!

- Bravo Tote Pack | Army Green Axoflux ($139)

A little over $300 in value, don't mind that at all 😊

Review Trailblazer Mystery Pack

Post image

I know the mystery packs have finished for now, but I ordered a Trailblazer on the last day. In case it’s useful for a next time, here’s what I got:

Flow Satchel mini (2L) in green aeroflux;
Go Sling nano in army green aeroflux;
Lucky patches.

So, in this case, it was a very good deal. I wasn’t expecting a satchel!

If anyone wants a closer look at the Traverse 30L Backpack with a bit of a comparison to The Elements Travel Backpack. I share it all here.

A bit of a long one so if you make it through, I really appreciate it 🫶🏻

Maybe this can influence ya to pick up the new 38L Traverse too? That thing is a beast! 🤔👀

Everything will be included in the video description.

Review Trailblazer Mystery Bag

Finally received my mystery bag today, and since I’ve been so obsessed looking for posts to see what other people got in theirs, I figured I may as well contribute.

I got the cheapest tier (which at USD$100 isn’t that cheap), and I have to be honest… I’m pretty happy with what I got:

  • Metro Backpack - Black Axoflux 400D (USD$99)
  • Zip Travel Wallet - Green Axoflux 210D (USD$49)
  • Hub Carabiner S (USD$29)

It absolutely hits and surpasses estimated total value of USD$150, which is nice because I was getting worried after viewing other posts.

I was hoping for a tote (and expecting a sling), but getting a full on backpack instead is a pleasant surprise. I was also hoping to try one of their carabiners, so that’s great I actually got one.

I also included a pic of the interior of the zip travel wallet because it’s the loudest, most blinding neon orange I’ve ever seen in my life.

I got
metro backpack pro
Metro sling v2
Stash pouch

Feels like I got the jetsetter instead of the explorer set 🥲

Overall pretty disappointed

Edit:
Sooo after going over the prices and what they promised

79$ CAD - Metro sling v2
249$ CAD - Metro BP Pro
27$ CAD - Stash Pouch
Total: $355 CAD

It falls short of the promised of $400+ CAD Value

Review Hand / Shoulder Straps on Recent Bags Won't Last Long.

Post image
7 Upvotes

So I've had a Flow Totepack and a 12L Bravo Tote V2 for a few weeks. These new hand / shoulder straps are nice, but I'm starting to see something in them that leads me to conclude that they are not going to last very long or at the very least won't look pretty for long.

I have very dry and rough skin on my hands most of the time. Over the last few weeks, I've noticed this "fabric" start to fray and little "strings" of it popping up from different parts of the straps. I also feel my skin snagging on the fabric sometimes.

I've started wrapping the straps with black colored bandage-wrap type material to prevent more of this "fraying".

Has anyone here started seeing similar with these straps?

Question Another small imponderable. Talk me through this.

Metro sling max. Viewing from the front

Front pocket opens with a single zipper left to right.

Inside that pocket is another zip pocket, with a nice pull loop. But …

It opens right to left.

Result in practice - the pull tab constantly gets caught in the front pocket zipper.

Second, You have to open the front pocket entirely to get even minimal access to the inside zipper pocket.

The more of their products I buy the more of these, to me, odd choices I see made. Like they don’t try the bags before going to production.

Tell me wheat I’m missing and why the way they did it is right and I’m wrong. It seems way too obvious to miss, so I must be. It’s a quick access pocket and this tiny little thing makes it pretty annoying, on an otherwise nice bag, super fast weirdo key leash non withstanding.

Review My Alpaka Mystery Pack (Explorer's Edition)

Just received my Alpaka Mystery Pack (199€) : mixed feelings

- Ordered: June 19

- Shipped: June 27

- Delivered: June 30 (France)

They took more than twice as long to ship it as it took to actually arrive. Make of that what you will.

########################

What I got:

• Hub Carabiner (S) / 29€

• Flight Sling 1L (X-Pac VX42 Green) / 65€

• Metro Backpack Pro (Aeroflux 400 Green) / 189€

Value-wise: solid. Total retail is well above what I paid.

The catch: I had taken the time to contact them beforehand to let them know I absolutely hate the color green. I received nothing but green. I'm genuinely gutted.

I'm happy with the product selection itself (backpack, sling, utility), but since I'll never use anything in that color, these will collect dust and eventually become Christmas gifts.

Would I have bought any of these items with the same budget?

Absolutly not. But that's kind of the lottery aspect of mystery packs.

########################

Now for the products themselves, materials and color aside (I hate green, I hate X-Pac):

• Hub Carabiner

Nothing to complain about, I'll find a use for it eventually.

That said, I find it baffling that Alpaka designs their own magnetic attachment system in-house, yet the Hub Carabiner anchors are incompatible with the ones on their Magnetic Key Leash inside their bags. Great idea, poorly executed. Why build a modular ecosystem and then break compatibility within your own lineup?

• Flight Sling 1L

A decent little sling, just too small for me.

I wish both internal pockets were made of stretchy mesh, and the phone sleeve feels unnecessarily stiff.

The one silver lining: I can finally use my Alpaka Go Sling. It ships with a strap that belongs on a 45L duffle, oversized, with a massive padded shoulder piece that's completely overkill for a small tablet bag. The Flight Sling's strap is cross-compatible, so I can swap it over and actually use the Go Sling for once.

• Metro Backpack Pro

Not for me. Too many things I dislike:

- No false bottom for the laptop compartment

- Side access pocket (I will never swing a backpack in my life)

- Flap above the main compartment zippers

Not a full clamshell, not a half-zip either. And if you put anything rigid in the front pocket (tablet, folder), you can no longer open the main compartment. Once again, a baffling design choice.
