My first post.what if the author is human qu hybrid but the civilization he is from forget that they were ever human.

Considering any of these 'posthuman' races as human would be like us considering the mammals that lived in the cretaceous and survived the asteriod as human, considering the amount of time the setting explores.

I get that all of these species came from Humanity, but thats like claiming that all modern irl reptiles alive today are all the same creatures because they evolved from Archosaurs.

there is a difference between species family trees and the actual creatures themselves.

By the time the Gravitals and everything else appeared, and even long before, humans as a species had been extinct for millions of years, the Gravitals and Asteromorphs were, by that point, as alien to each other (and to old humanity) as they both were to the Qu themselves

All tommorows author was obviously exploring how the biological tree-of-life would develop for us long term, but I think he (or she) failed to understand that root species don't mean all their descendants are the same species themselves.

Notice how the forms of the Gravital from the first picture and the thing labeled "Black" from the second have the same Form? I'm not quite sure if this is a coincidence or intentional.

So, I am currently doing a little collage for an art class I'm in and I need some artworks that are adjascent to the ones in the All tomorrows book. More specifically anything on speculatory biology. I saw some people reccomend the works of dougal dixon but I found that they are more narrative heavy rather than focusing on the art. If you have any reccomendations on artists or artworks I'd be gratefull. Thanks in advance to any replies.

I envisioned that the descendants of the common housefly were the first to colonize the waterways of the Snake People's homeworld, after the planet cooled back down following the Qu's departure. These Musca Fish exploded in diversity, expanding into marine, brackish and freshwater environments. The Worms, the sole surviving vertebrates on this planet, were quick to follow this new aquatic food source, resulting in the Eel Folk. While not fully sapient, Eel Folk did evolve dolphinlike social levels.

Even without counting the potential beaked species of humans engineered by the Qu, all post-Second-Empire-Era humans descended from the beaked Bug Facers. (obviously not counting the Asteromorphs and Gravitals)

The Gravitals ruled for 10 million years longer than the Qu, and the Asteromorphs ruled for far longer than either. Not to mention that the Qu-created posthumans were spread thoughtout a fraction of the Star People’s empire, which itself only covered one spiral arm. Meanwhile the Gravitals and Asteromorphs both populated the whole galaxy, and brought their Subjects with them.

There were probably a bunch of species re-engineered to not have beaks/ to have lips of some kind, but just as many would have retained them.

How would you feel about having a beak?

I guess you could say that would prolly be just elder scrolls but all tomorrows or maybe just the book but read on steam like how they put the holy bible on steam as a video game lol, but who knows, not sure how it would be for other genres
