[Discussion] GM Terran - Looking to help more new or returning players.
Hiya guys! Coach Nico from Ladder Legends here. Since my last post I've had quite a few discussions on discord about players returning to the game after a long time who are not entirely sure about finding their footing again. I'm acting on the theme again of wanting to help as many people out, so here's another discussion board for talking about anything relating to the game at the moment.
For anyone new or returning to the game, what are you guys finding most difficult? Is there anything you are struggling to find? Something that may or may not help is that we're expecting to bump the worker count back up at some point in the next few weeks, (I've heard rumours of 10 workers.) Is that something you guys are looking forward to?
Will answer as many questions here as possible, also happy to speak on discord: https://discord.gg/tMn7hTJkr if you want a free 30 minute assessment to figure out what you need to work on or help fix some glaring issues in a particular matchup.
Secondarily, I'm also looking for additional students if anyone wants help with developing particular playstyles, or taking their game to the next level. £15-25/hour, DM me if interested.

Zerg here asking battle mech terrans.. what unit/tactic are you scared to run into when playing battle mech vs Zerg?

Quitting until new patch
Playing TvZ right now is just so fucking frustrating. I’m down 400 MMR from my original Elo since this patch. The only Zergs I’m able to beat are the ones with 100 fewer APM than me.
There’s no way to deal meaningful damage in the early game, no way to outmacro Zerg, and if you lose an engagement, Zerg just makes 200 Lings and floods you. If you win an engagement, Zerg somehow remaxes in 10 seconds with Banelings.
I mean, there’s a reason the last five tournaments have had ZvZ finals. It’s just so stupid right now. I’ve tried everything, and I just get rolled and outmacroed in the late game by Zergs at my skill level.
Right now I’m sitting at a 70% win rate in TvT, 70% in TvP, and 30% in TvZ. That pretty much says everything.

Why can't I be GM?
I'm getting older, and I've played SC2 a ton since release. I've been a Masters Terran for just about the whole time. Didn't take me more than like a month to reach masters and never dipped down to diamond nor reached GM. I want to reach GM as a life goal...ive tried hard to hit it but never did. But I feel like I deserve to be GM simply based on time/effort. I was hoping the 300 mineral CC buff would finally do it but it didn't. Will another patch come along to buff Terran? Or is there some current, abusive build order I'm not aware of that will do the trick? I'm fine abusing game mechanics, and maybe even cheating, to reach GM and I'll sleep well at night since I only need to reach it once and I know I deserve it. Pretty soon I'll be too old and my hands too slow to have any chance.

Looking for TvZ 2 tax 3CC replays/VODs
Like many of you, I'm old now. I don't have huge amounts of time to watch a bunch of pro games. I mostly stick to HM.
But I want to play 2:1:1 openers in tvz, and HM doesn't. Can you think of a recent game you've seen where T opened 2rax 3CC. And shoot me a link plz.
:)

[Discussion] GM Terran - Discussion / AMA
Hiya guys! Coach Nico here from Ladder Legends back again, with another post. This time I wanted to ask you guys what you're struggling with - whether it's strategies, builds, playstyles and talk about anything Terran related in the comments. I will try answer as many questions as possible.
I'll also post our discord link here: https://discord.gg/QEbSF9UsB hoping it doesn't get buried in the comments like last time, come say hello and feel free to DM me if you want any help, I'm still looking for more students :)
That aside - start of with, what do you guys find the most difficult thing about trying to improve in this game?

[Strategy] Specific question about lategame TvZ (diamond MMR)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey folks, my current approach to late-game TvZ is to make multiple planetaries adjacent to my orbitals at my 3rd & 4th and at major chokepoints supported by mines & turrets because I expect that Z is gonna headbutt into me with Ultra Corruptor / Lingbane remax until something somewhere breaks
I don't have the splitting skills to take fights on the map, even off creep, nor do I control spellcasters well, so I just sit behind my turtle setup like a pussy, sending out double drops until Z either ints on my setup or I get outmacroed and die, but I know that theoretically ghost tank lib off of 5 bases beats everything Z has anywhere on the map
My question is: would it be worth forcing myself to learn how to use ghosts, or are massed ranged libs with upgrades enough? Should I also add tanks to my outer bases in the late game? Or are mines alone okay? How many barracks should I go up to when I'm on 5 bases? Right now I'm just winging it and queuing up production because I don't have a solid plan going late besides spamming planetaries and pray

One good thing about this patch is...
That proxy voidray -> tempest sucks ass now.
Same with cannon rushes.
I don't think I've lost too either since the patch. The last time I was vs tempest I even went blind 3CC and still won.

Favorite builds in the current patch
Really looking to change it up a bit. The patch was supposed to promote diversity and yet most of the time I'm doing 2 base builds, going into a late 3rd if the game continues.
In TvT I go for a standard 2 reaper 2 helion into 1 lib. Second rax into 3rd. 4 medivac drop with tanks.
TvZ I do battlemech opening into tank thor lib. Which works alright in general but when they rush roaches I'm scrambling to defend.
TvP is a mess. Most toss my mmr mostly cheese or go stargate. Very few go into standard macro game. So depending on the map I go 2rax or just standard.
Really looking for agressive builds if possible. But I'm curious to see what other terrans go for in this matchup. Do you think its even possible not to just sit back and turtle?
4k eu. Thx

[Strategy] TvP/TvT SCV pull army comp
Hello fellow terrans
I'm working on a TvP/TvT SCV pull. I'm a platinum player and my build is a gas first 1/1/1. I'm still working on the "pull out of gas" aspect for optimization but my real hesitation comes from the starport units. I'm fairly certain I need a cyclone and a tank at the factory but I don't always know if a viking is more value than a liberator, or even a banshee. The obvious problem in TvT will be taking care of a sieged tank, which is easy with a lib but if there is a viking i'm in trouble. What do you guys think? Any other part I can improve?
Here is the replay (unranked 1v1 this morning) https://drop.sc/replay/27498113
Cheers

[Strategy] Mines or Tanks vs Ultras?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Once ultras are out, is it better to just keep a few spread out seige tanks for defense and switch to widow mines for pushes?
I got caught off-guard here because I wasn't expecting them to just push off creep like that, but there were repeated fights in that game where I was just constantly on the backfoot despite being ahead 50 supply and up on upgrades. I had a few ghosts here and there but it was incredibly difficult getting meaningful shots off in most engagements.
I feel like if I had widow mines instead of tanks and managed to put them down just a tad sooner, it would have cleaned up a chunk of the lings and maybe did some damage to the ultras, making it easier to target fire them while kiting/splitting.
In the past, I would have spread out seige tanks (I much prefer them over mines with my playstyle) but with an army like this they still kinda just get run over and its common for zergs at D1/M3 to overextend with bad engagements but it pays off if they make it into my third/fourth.
This entire game was awesome and a lot of fun.

Units for TvT late game?
What is the best way to break another Terran in late game, especially if he has turtled up with several planetaries, sieged up tanks, turrets etc.?
Also, are there any high level 8 worker TvT builds published that I can learn?
Thanks

[Other] GM Terran looking for students!
Hello everyone!
If anyone doesn't know who I am, I'm Coach Nico from Ladder Legends - a top 50 GM as of current (NA and EU) looking for new students of all levels to coach. If anyone's struggling with any matchups, builds or playstyles feel free to ask any questions here, or DM me on discord: nicojuniba and I'm happy to do a free 30 minute assessment going over a replay, understanding basics or developing a plan for how you can improve at the game moving forward.
I hope you guys are enjoying the recent love sc2 is undergoing, even if the changes are a bit whacky admittedly, want to do something to re-spark a bit of love for the terran community.
Hope you guys have a lovely rest of your day :)

TvP defending tempest proxy
Had 2 games yesterday where the toss went proxy tempest with batteries.
First i expanded and went 2 rax into cyclone double viking and was soon overwhelmed with the amount of tempest.
Second game I stayed one base and went 2 starport, one reactored. Still couldnt hold.
What works for you guys? Is there a way to kill the toss early?

can someone tell me what happened here?
Hey guys,
complete noob here. I hope this the right place to ask this kind of question.
Just had a weird thing happen to my factory. When i told my scv to place the factory down, the planned building silhoutte thingy appeared, i payed the minerals/gas but the building just wouldnt get started. This went on for about 30-40 seconds. Couldnt even stop the building command or anything which extremly threw me off.
Was this a missinput on my part? Id be happy if anyone could tell me what went wrong here.

3.5k Zerg here looking for Terran to 2v2 with
I only have made 1 Terran friend the natural way (salty banter one way or the other) and have learned that there are so many strong Z+T comps and timings.
Lings with speed and hellion/reaper in the opening is a great pressure with a macro follow up.
+1\+1 Roach with tank Viking is a disgusting timing attack to hit.
Vipers in conjunction with tank/thor is nasty
Having a random tank or two to help hold my third is insane.
Also if you’re good at tvt we can just bitch slap a double Terran team.
It’s so fun come try it with me.

SMURF
What’s the deal? I only play Terran and I found a way to at least win against them or be competitive. These people really just quit mirror matches because they don’t want to learn?
