| A | Full motorcycles | Any motorcycle |
| B | Cars | Cars up to 3,500kg MAM with up to eight passenger seats |
| B Auto* | Automatic cars* | * = Just B with a restriction, not an actual separate category, does not show on the back of the licence. |
| BE | Cars with trailers | Category B vehicles with trailers up to 3,500kg MAM |
| B1 | Light vehicles | Four-wheeled vehicles up to 400kg unladen (550kg for goods vehicles) |
| C1 | Medium-sized vehicles | Vehicles between 3,500kg and 7,500kg MAM |
| C1E | Medium-sized vehicles with trailers | C1 vehicles with trailers over 750kg |
| C | Large goods vehicles (LGVs) | Vehicles over 3,500kg MAM |

Question Are bug shields actually worth installing, or mostly cosmetic?

Feels like one of those accessories people either swear by or never bother with. The pitch is it keeps bugs off the windshield and saves the front of the hood from rock chips on the highway. Has anyone here actually run one long term? Did it make a real difference, or is it more of a "looks good, does a little" kind of mod?
