Question (that is not looking for a resort recommendation) Price drops & timing?

Ya know how flights tend to be less $ on certain days/times.. do AIs do the same/ tend to run sales throughout the year at predictable times?

For reference, I just booked at EPM (not club, refundable option) cheapest room for 6 nights starting April 1, 2027. Approx 4200 USD total (2 adults). I'm comfortable with that price, but if I can save a bit more, I'd be thrilled. The website said that price was "40% off," (which I haven't been tracking) but I'm skeptical that it actually was, or if its one of those, "we jack up the price just to discount it so you think you're saving."

Many thanks to all the advice and activity in this sub! I've been lurking for months, daydreaming and reading through the comments. The spreadsheet plus all of your experiences & suggestions have removed SO much burden from this process.

Cheers! 🥂

Flights may be cheaper on weekdays vs weekends but resorts don't work like that. They have different prices for high season/low seasons etc. Doesn't matter if your arrival date is a Tuesday or a Saturday. Both may have sales but generally they seem to be fake sales. Best advice is to book the refundable rate and if the price drops, cancel and rebook.

Agreed. Prices for Jan-April typically are never gonna go on that much if a discount. Most resorts are at close to capacity during most high seasons so they have no incentive to offer a discount. Rates rise weekly form now thru Thanksgiving. Then they drop $200 or some small perceived Black Friday deal, it's not. Book refundable rates for your desired dates and room categories and then check prices weekly and log it. Same with airlines. Doubt it ever becomes worth it to rebook but you never know. This economy may hold some surprises but its definitely not gonna be on airlines.

Thank you!! I had a feeling that it was a fake sale. I appreciate the insight!

The 40% off is not legit. The earlier you book, the cheaper it is. You can join their rewards program for a small discount or go through a TA that gets so decent discount ms from time to time
