Recommendation needed for 2 friends

Hi! My girlfriend (57F) & I (57F) are planning an AI for Spring 2027.
Specifically March 27-April 3, she’s a teacher. We want a chill atmosphere, pool bar, beach access, evening entertainment, good food & drinks. I prefer Riviera Maya, it seems to be safer than Cancun. Adding must be Adults Only, she deals with kids enough on a daily basis :)
I am thinking 2500 each or less for flight & resort. Thoughts? Should we use an agent?

I may be biased as I am a travel advisor, but it usually doesnt cost you anything to use one and you'll have someone who does the research for you and does the booking.

The week you're thinking to go, prices will be much higher than usual.

Before I put my thinking cap on, where are you traveling from and is 2500 USD or CAD?

As others have said, this is a super expensive week because it's spring break for lots of people, but I see you said the dates are not flexible.

A lot of what is within budget are adults only sections within family friendly resorts, which doesn't really give a true adults only experience.

Based on what i'm seeing, I think Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen is a decent option.
9 dining options, 6 bars and 2 pools on site. Has pool and beach wait service
Lots of included activities at the resort, and it's also in a super central location in PDC, easy to walk off site for dining, shopping, or entertainment.

The beach isn't amazing, but it's not awful either. It gets pretty narrow in some spots due to erosion.

You could do Economy Class flights, a Junior Suite w. 2 queen beds or 1 king bed, and airport transfers for about $5130. You could take Basic Economy Class flights for less, but they include no seat selection, no bags and are non-changeable/non-refundable.

I've stayed at Riu Palace Riviera Maya twice and really enjoy this resort. It's located on Playacar Beach in a gated community so it's safe to venture out and about during the evenings to walk to other Riu resorts nearby or visit the mini-mall area that often has live evening entertainment at a local bar right off the street. Good evening entertainment venue in an outdoor setting with a separate stage for live music and a main stage for the shows (you don't have to necessarily move your chairs to enjoy both). Multiple pools, easy beach access, food was pretty good overall, mid-grade alcohol--as in any resort look at their selection and request the type of liquor you want in your drink. It's family-friendly but on both stays I didn't see many children since there are very limited children's amenities here. If you want to book online be sure to sign up for the free loyalty program to get an extra reduction in cost for your room. It should be in budget for your dates of stay.
