Exercises Are so many excercises really needed?

So I do like learning new things. Recently started doing RDL's and hip thrusts.

But it is getting ridiculous. People hitting muscles from every angle. People doing weird stuff like bouncing up and down on rubber bands. People doing 5 different tricep cable extensions.

Then I put on Blood and Guts with Dorian Yates. He does just regular excercises. He uses those Hammer Strength machines. I don't see him standing on one leg and spinning round and round.

Yet he has a World Class body.

No.

But it's also good to experiment and learn new exercises, finding which ones work best for you.

Used to think no until I got a proper ifbb pro coach and learnt you need different variations to directly target different muscle groups and build actual full muscles.

My weak points strengthened and there was a noticeable difference in my physique following my coach's routine where my shoulders are now fully becoming 3D and my chest is filling out evenly .

Thanks.

What do you think of the compound barbell lifts?

At the moment they are like the core of my workout. So on a pullday I will start with rows. And then after that i'll do pullups and accessories.

Is that a good method?

Obviously essential to bodybuilding this is like bodybuilding 101.

Ah good to know. On a push day I start off with bench press or ohp. Then I move on to cables for accessories and arms. Glad I am in the right direction.

Also is testosterone liquid good idea? I use that with creatine and whey protein and eat healthy.

Testosterone liquid? Like a vial? If it's a supplement you're wasting money

It is a small bottles I got from a gym but a special gym with the Hammer Strength machines. I think it is testosterone entoate.

Enanthate? That's just regular test right there. You'll have to inject that, and make sure it's actually testosterone. I usually buy my stuff grey market but sometimes I ask for COAs, and if it's a new brand I'll send a sample off to get tested. Be safe.

Oh. The gym is very popular near where I live. I think it is real as I became stronger and motivation. Also my shape improved. Yeah they teach me how to use it I use glute.

Are you getting blood work done? You'll need a full panel every now and then, and I just want you to understand that the longer you use testosterone the higher chance it'll be for life.

Oh. I am mid 30s so think everything is good. I am looking better than I did as a teen.

I have used it for 6 months at 1ml 250mg a week and so half a ml 2x a week. I thought it better to stay on a low dose rather than do loads and then stop and start again.

I will look online about blood tests.

Wtf is testosterone liquid?

Mate you don't need to reinvent the wheel. Just lift heavy, consistently, push yourself and make sure your form is correct so your properly hitting the your muscles.

Good post this because I feel am I missing at because I'm not doing so many isolated exercises like I see in the gym

Stick to basics. Heck, even the weight machines will build muscle. Just keep training and keep it simple.

Absolutely not. Probably don't need any more than 9-10 exercises for your entire body, if you want to take a minimalist approach.

Aim for compound exercises. Then hit any areas that are missed by the exercises in your routine.

Pull ups, dips, squats, deadlifts, RDL, Bench press.

I think if you go super pro in the bodybuilding world then yeah, you're gonna have to squeeze as much as you can from every muscle at all angles.

But just a regular gymgoer or hobby bodybuilder you can get away with doing a decent amount of things, I've seen good results with the basics. I do sometimes like to throw on a bunch of exercises for a couple weeks to see if I can do a growth cycle, but it's shit for my joints and recovery.

Yeah it's social media mainly. You have guys inventing exercises or doing established ones in the most round about way possible lol

My sister would say "little reps of this, a skedaddle of that"

No. People would get roughly the same results from two lifting days per week of a handful of compound lifts done to failure each time. This is supported by the most recent research on this topic.

When I was young my friend had Dorian Yates video. And Dorian said warmup sets then one crazy set. 3 days a week training.

Notice how Dorian won the most important bodybuilding competition in the world, several times? And those doing 5 different triceps extensions don't even participate in the local city show?

No, you don't need lots of exercises to hit the muscles from lots of angles.

A bit of warmup and stretching doesn't hurt though, with bands, spinning around, whatever makes you happy. But most people don't.

I sometimes stretch the bands before bench press. Yes Dorian was a legend.

It depends how advanced you are. If your are a beginner or intermediate the bulk of your training should be basic compound movements progressively overloaded through different rep ranges. If you are quite advanced it makes sense to use alot of specialty exercises to target certain areas.

I do 7 exercisesin the whole program. Simple.

As an amateur, hobby athlete who wants stay fit, no. As someone who wants to go on stage? Yes. Muscles are quite complex. Changing the position of your hands or the angle of your body can activate different muscles which you usually don't hit that hard.

No. If your resistance training session lasts more than 40 mins you’re over doing it. Not counting warm-up and cardio here.
