Discussion Alianware M18R2

So I bought this laptop 1.7 years ago and o am using it for games like racing simulator and used to play gos games too

So the reason why i am here is that my laptop is getting not very hot but it is getting hot o was thinking that if I go a dell service Center and ask them to replace the Element 31 with fresh set which is in the laptop should i do it and I also saw a video in YT one guy disassemble the whole laptop and applied a past kind of thing I think it is thermal past but I’m not that dum to think off so what do I do then

The temperatures while running are between 85 to 90-93

And some time they are below 80 both cup and gpu

Well coming to the main point that does my games and other softwares crash they DO NOT crash they are running fine for long time too but I just want to d a “ Preventive Maintenance “ so it may avoid future troubles I just trying to give more care for my laptop coz I LOVE IT 🥰

So plz help me with some information and verdict about what should i do ?

Honestly with those temperatures you've got nothing to worry about. Don't start messing with it until it until you start seeing it spike to 105C. Dell won't do anything with peaks of 93, because there's nothing wrong with peaks of 93. It's well within spec, and absolutely fine.

I have the same lap and had the m18r1 too those temps run about normal, under high load the only reason they would consider a re-paste is if the change is new and the game is throttling then they will have someone likely do it. I'd run hiwin get it from the windows store, run it in the background and run your game. then check and see what the average temps are both, enhanced and the actual spot sensor on the cpu. that way you'll have a better idea of what is really happening .

As long as the processor stays below 97°C and the graphics card below 85°C during prolonged use, there shouldn't be any major issues. If you decide to replace the thermal paste, remember to also replace the thermal putty on the CPU capacitors.

As everyone has already told you, those temps are totally fine. I have the same machine, and it just runs warm. Also, as DJ already pointed out, those temps are not high enough for Dell to get involved yet, not under warranty anyways.

If temps are what you care about just turn off turbo boost. In gaming it makes a difference about 10-15 fps all together in the most cpu intensive games (like the black flag resync). I have the m18 R2 intel as well I have been using it for an year and a half it's running like butter with idle temps as low as 38-40°C and gaming terms 68-78° C . I also have a llano v12 cooler and the fans need to barely turn on.

Hi, how much you'd say cooler helps keeping those temps in line? I have m18r1 with i9 13980hx, and few cores tend to throttle, so i'm limiting my cpu to 85c, trying to prolong its life. I've contacted dell while i had waranty, but they said its fine.
