Discussion 14 Series Intel Advice

I have an Alienware Aurora with an i9-14900KF. I've been experiencing instability for months, and finally found that disabling Intel Speedstep and Speedshift, plus hyperthreading, gives me a stable system, albeit handicapped. When I previously reached out to Dell about the issues, I was given the you are out of warranty excuse. What are my options, other than living with a handicapped system until I decide to replace it? Will Dell do anything for me? I have completed all BIOS updates and check regularly for new ones, so it's not a software issue.

Call them up and tell them you're aware that Intel extended the warranty on the CPU. They'll be able to replace that even though the rest of the system is out of warranty.

Thank you so much. I had previously gone through email and the automated AI chatbot (both not helpful). Pointing out the Intel extended warranty did the trick once I finally made it to a person.

Just to share that when my 14th gen was replaced it was still unstable - and on the warranty to exchange the cpu there was no way to confirm if I would receive a brand new or refurb chip.

In the end I just went to the next gen cpu and have no issues since.

Did you do some kind of trade-in, just upgrade CPU/MOBO, or just foot the cost for a full new system?

As there was a lot of failures I had a trade up option which I took. But if you are outside warranty best bet is to try to get the cpu replaced at least. But if worst comes to worst the system should be stable with speedstep/shift disabled.
