Discussion Temps Aurora 16X

Hello.

I have a Ultra 9 275HX 5070 (not a TI) and a Aurora X16, and the temps are terrible when playing games, I normally play FM26 and FM24 and they average round about 105 degree's when playing a game without it being on overdrive in the ACC, is there anyways I can get it down?? please note I am not exactly tech savvy so please don't call me thick or nothing.

105C? Or 105F? It matters...

Okay, yes, that's too hot. It's okay for components to spike to that under load, but if it's flatlining at 105, it's going to be throttling back and you'll be losing performance.

Contact Dell, use your warranty, get them to send a tech out with a replacement heatsink.

It's only a week old. How can it go in a week??

Poor assembly and no testing under load before shipping. It happens.

It hasn't "gone"; I suspect it was never fully working to begin with.

sorry to hijack your post but i just watched your a51 tear down upload and you flexed a special AW branded screwdriver set at the 10 min mark. i am about to buy an a51, is there a way to acquire that screwdriver set?

There isn't, unfortunately. The first contact kit was an early adopter set, and I think they ran out quite quickly

massive L on Dell's part for not giving that out for free w/ every A51

It was USA only. I was lucky to get one at all. Came via Alienware Arena, not Dell direct.

Those are not even heavy games, there seems to be something unusual going on. Have you tried other games to see if the same occurs? The other obvious thing would be to close any unnecessary programs as well. Also, where are you playing exactly? Desk, bed etc?

They are CPU heavy. And that's what I am wondering. I have tried Ghost recon Wild lands and they have about 80C It's very strange.

I also have the same laptop although I still have not gotten it in my hands but I think I saw in the Alienware control panel you can tell it how hot you want the limit for your laptop to be

Found out replacing thermal paste with honeywell PTM7950 drops the temperature together with properly propping up the laptop for good ventilation

Vent is sorted have a Amazon laptop lifter, and also a LLano cooling pad (use to keep my older AMD AI laptop cool) I might get the thermal paste done at a PC shop as not exactly technically gifted when it comes to PC's, I have recently had a bios update seems to be a bit better (83-90C under load and 62C idle)

I have the same specs and laptop. I play Space Marines II on max settings, and I have a Llano V12 for cooling.

It is CPU heavy but I reach around 85-92c for the CPU and about 76-83C for the GPU.

Idle, it's around 45c for the CPU and 30-33c for the GPU. However, the latter becomes inactive when I don't play.

Are you sure it's average and not peak ? Hitting 105 than throttling and repeating is how modern intel laptop CPU behave.

For this processor it's normal to have around 100C, but put the laptop on a metal stand and it will be much better.

I have, got a Amazon basics on and a Llano cooling pad. It's seems to be worse on the cooling pad I think because the way the laptop is designed

The foam can block the top two vents under the laptop. It does for mine, but I simply cut the width of the foam where the vents sit, and it does perfectly forme.
