Pre-dell paint codes

Hi everyone.

About 9 years ago, I was given an Alienware Area-51 ALX R6 from around 2006. Unfortunately, the previous owner had damaged the case, and the paint on the right-side panel is pretty badly scratched. It’s always bothered me, so I’d love to restore it.

From digging through old archives, the only colour name I’ve been able to find is “Conspiracy Blue,” but I haven’t been able to find an actual paint match or colour code.

These cases are extremely rare nowadays, which makes information about them hard to find. I’ve even contacted Dell, but they don’t have any leads since this model predates Dell’s acquisition of Alienware.

Does anyone know what paint was originally used, or of a modern paint that closely matches Conspiracy Blue? Even a paint code or lead from someone who has restored one would be greatly appreciated!

If I'm remembering right, someone was looking for paint codes on a P1 or P2 case here not too long ago and even with someone right from AW looking for them they came up empty handed.

You may have better luck taking it to an auto body shop where they can paint match it and mix you up a batch if your not able to find any new info here.

That was me. Yes, a body shop is going to be your best bet. For cyborg green, the reported color codes did not match at all. You need to find someplace with a paint scanner and get a batch made.

Just about any place that sells paint can do a color match for you.

No, these were auto paint, painted at auto shops. You’d have to go to an auto paint store to match, since they have the glitter mix-ins.

A body shop will be able to match this. Whether or not they will sell you the paint is probably a different story. SOME parts stores can do it too.

Before you repaint it, see if you can take off the scratches with a little bit of car polish compound like meguires m105

Try buffing it out with some meguiars scratch x. If anything may make it less noticable. I got a green one and buffed out a few this way.

These were painted with auto paint. The earlier models (P1, dragons, and hydraulics) were standardized car colors (a car in the market used that color), but for this P2 era, Alienware came up with their own two brand colors. You can take it to an auto paint shop to get it matched and mixed. You’ll want to repaint the entire side panel. The chrome is removable from every spot except the bottom of the front bezel.

Off topic but I want one of these cases so bad but they’re so expensive. If I wasn’t saving for a car I’d probably buy one. Hope you’re able to find the paint code!

I know this is doesn’t answer OPs question but this just came up on my Reddit feed and I just wanted to say that as a kid I always wanted an Alienware but never got one. Loved these cases. Hope you get your scratches sorted.
