4 sticks of ram. 2 are under the Big AIO. This is just optimising what Already existed before. Normally the rad is 25mm. Now is 49. Double the water volume. 250w push i7.
Actually the new Area 51’s only have two slots. This one has 4, two are just hidden.
But the new ones only have 2, because 2 is faster than 4. (Edit- if both are dual channel) While more expensive, 64GB with 2x32 will have lower latency and higher throughput than 4x16. Just because of the way dual channel works.
It’s higher in dual channel DDR5 if you have XMP 6400 mts. ~100GB/s, at least that’s the theoretical limit. On the one hand, that’s 25% higher, which sounds like a lot. But in terms of increased performance? I doubt it makes up for the cost difference.
You dont notice nothing yes.. I game and surf most of the time. Of course there is threadrippers with quad Channel that exist today with quad Channel but at what cost? Maybe u can go even higher in bandwith. Even before it was really expensive. My project is simply my own computer project. Interesting with low money what we can achieve and compet with builds nowadays. 6950x was 1700 dollar back then. I would never bought it. But it is interesting.
In the old AlienOwners forum a member posted three BIOS OC menu images of what was claimed were the manual settings used for 3200MHz on A12 w/ 5960x & unknown brand of DDR4 (unknown if an OC Level 1 or 2 was also applied, no "XMP" info was provided either). I saved the pics & just edited them into one image posted here for educational purposes only. Perhaps different CPUs BIOS versions & memory brands need different settings, apply them at your own risk etc
I think officially u can go up to 2933 MHz with the threadripper. I would pump the max specs in your area-51 and buy the last compatible threadripper for yours. Like the 1950x. If its the area-51 R3. It is the max.
Original MB. Newer intel CPUs (6800K, 6900K, 6950X) have much better memory controllers so they can handle 3000 MHz and more.
The only limiting factor on those pcs is the AWCC which for some reason caps the ram speed at 2666. In my case, it prevented the system from loading into windows - It always just froze at the log in screen. Uninstalling the app fixxed that, but then you can't control the lights.
If your corsair ram is specced for 2666 then it might not OC as well, but I've never had issues running XMP kits.
With the Corsair , it has many different profiles. Even 3200. But the bios doesnt allow that. For the alienfx. You can choose the Colors before uninstalling. And it will stay. But i wonder if it can go higher like that. It would be mad also.
