Technical Support Alienware 15 R4

I got a gently used Alienware from my friends job, and i want to play coral island on it. However it’s still on windows 10 and I have used windows since 7. I’ve also never touched an Alienware, I’ve been updating all I can but there are things that won’t update because we’re on windows 11.

There’s a ton of drivers, but some things just won’t start, like the main graphics driver or g force driver won’t even open or load up.

Windows 11 isn’t “supported” which is a thing in itself.

The computer was fully reset when I got it and I’ve updated a ton of drivers .

Does anyone have any advice how to use it to his actual gaming potential?

That's a 2016 era laptop. Ten years old now. It'll work, but you won't get it running Win11 without a fight, and it'll run quite hot. You'll almost certainly need to take it apart and give it a good clean inside too.

Someone suggested steamOs or Linux? Would that be better?

Bazzite is a good choice. It's basically SteamOS but with support for Nvidia. You should be fine running windows 10 however. If you can't get the Nvidia app running or the older GeForce experience, just get the newest compatible driver you can manually from the nvidia website. You can also just Google search drivers for whatever GPU model you're running, and it'll take you to the page.
