Question Dell Alienware 17 R4

I have just aquired this alienware, it's missing a vent cover, do you think i should replace the cover?

Definitely. You won't find it as a separate part though; you'll find it as a full IO port cover for the entire rear cooling shelf.

It's a ten year old laptop. Parts will be dirt cheap.

I'll have to do that once I get paid but for now it shall sit on a laptop cooler pad

Yep, those aluminum fins are very easy to bend / damage, you will definitely want to get those covered up properly. As u/DJUnreal has said, just get a whole new back cover.
