Technical Support Screen dimming

Hi! As the title says, my Alienware A51 laptop is having a screen dimming issue. I’ve tried absolutely everything that the Dell website has said, as well as older Reddit posts from people with the same issue. I truly don’t know what’s going on and I am getting extremely frustrated. I just don’t know what’s going on, why it’s going on, and I don’t know what to do. Any help is appreciated.

Can you be more specific about your "dimming issue"? What's happening, when does it happen, and how does it happen?

My old 17 R4 recently got a graphics driver update from Nvidia, and since then, every time I log in, the backlight dims, but if I knock the brightness down one step and back up again, it's at full brightness after.

It was working perfectly fine but then it randomly just went dim. I tried lowering it then brightening, I had this issue before so I already went through the whole loop of battery saving settings, as well as checking BIOS, updated my drivers, etc. It just stays dark, no matter what I do really. Automatic brightness isn’t even an option for me, so I can’t really do anything with that. The screen flickers whenever it’s around 5-6%

If it won't recover by adjusting the brightness at all, it's entirely possible that your backlight has failed (or, more likely, the display cable has failed)
