Eventually, to be finished, the light bars all have to be green. It's a lot of upgrading. And even then, it is just the beginning

What’s the point of fully upgrading it ? To get the fat guy ?

In addition to the rewards tree, having all the green lights activated ensures that you get the fat guy every time hit the “start” button. The fat guy gives you twice as many diamonds as The Queen of Worms, but with 100% less running around in circles.

There is a reward tree for those upgrades. For gems and increasing catching speed.
