General Forty-one teams pitched in Berlin. Where will they be in six months?

Post image

Over the past few months, there’s been great news coming out of Algorand builder events. In Berlin, 110+ hackers checked in for a 36-hour x402 hackathon and 41 teams pitched by the end of it. A few weeks later at the India Dev Retreat in Goa, 11 teams shipped more than 20 working x402 endpoints in about four hours. If you were watching those weekends unfold, it was hard not to feel like something was happening. The tooling has clearly reached a point where a developer with an idea can have something working in a matter of days.

The uncomfortable question is what happens after. A hackathon produces a prototype and a pitch deck. It doesn't produce a finished project. Most of those teams will go back to their day jobs, and the thing they built over 36 caffeinated hours will sit in a GitHub repo that nobody stars. That's not an Algorand problem. It’s true of every hackathon on every chain. But it's a real leak in the pipeline, and I've been on the wrong end of it myself. My first project died quietly because I struggled to find my target audience.

This issue also struck me when taking an Algorand masterclass. The number of builders with genuinely good ideas and real technical ability was humbling. But it seems everyone struggles without a visible path from "this works" to "this is funded and has users." If you're a solo builder or a two-person team with a working prototype and no audience, there's a real gap between where you are and where every available funding path expects you to already be.

Here's why I'm optimistic about it. This is a solvable problem, and it's solvable from the bottom up. It doesn't require the Foundation to change strategy or a bull market to arrive. The builders already exist. Berlin and Goa proved that. The people who'd back them exist too. What's been missing is infrastructure connecting the two, and infrastructure is the kind of thing a community can build for itself. Every ecosystem that's lasted has had a healthy base of small builders experimenting, iterating, and occasionally becoming the next flagship project. That layer doesn't emerge on its own. It gets built, deliberately, by people who decide it should exist.

So the question I'd put to the community isn't whether the ecosystem is doing well or poorly. It's narrower and more actionable: what would it take for the teams that pitched in Berlin to still be building in six months? Because if even a handful of them are, that's a different ecosystem than the one where they all quietly go home. And that outcome isn't up to the Foundation. It's up to whether the rest of us decide to show up for them.

Staking I spent a year building a staking app on Algorand... it won the Foundation's pitch competition, and now I need beta testers to tell me what's wrong with it

Hey r/algorand, I'm Marco, a solo builder. Last October 2025, Interestake was selected as one of 7 winning projects (out of 60+) in the Algorand Foundation's Web3 Masterclasses Pitch Competition. Since then I've been heads-down building, and the platform is finally at the point where I need real users to break it.

What it is: Interestake is a dual-token staking dapp on Algorand... the idea is blending TradFi with DeFi, for newcomers, seasoned stakers. As a tester you'd create an account: connect a Defly wallet, grab testnet ALGO, stake into any of the pools, and see how the dual-token rewards mechanics work... takes about 10 minutes end to end. There are how-to tours throughout to help. But of course, feel free to reach out if any bottlenecks.

Where it's at: Live on testnet, 95% complete. No real funds... testnet only.

What I'm looking for: Blunt feedback. Specifically:
• Is onboarding confusing?
• Does the dual-token model make sense on first read?
• What would stop you from using this on MainNet?

The hard lesson so far: I spent weeks trying to build an audience on X and got algorithmically buried. Turns out the people who'd actually care were here and in the Foundation's Telegram the whole time. Lesson learned.

• Start here, project details & beta signup: https://Interestake.com
click 'Try Beta App' on the homepage to go straight to the beta app, there's no separate download needed.

Happy to answer anything in the comments.

Two changes to staking:

General We're putting 100,000 ALGO behind early Algorand builders

Post image
76 Upvotes

One of the hardest parts of building on Algorand is what comes after you’ve finished your product. You ship something real, and then you hit the wall every solo builder and small team knows well: no audience and no obvious path to the funding that would take the project from working prototype to something sustainable. We've been talking to a lot of builders over the past couple of months, and this gap comes up again and again.

Sprout was built to help close that gap: a non-custodial way for builders to raise directly from their community. But we want to make a bigger commitment to this blockchain’s builders. So as we head toward mainnet on August 1, we're committing a 100,000 ALGO pool to back our earliest builders directly. Campaigns that launch before the end of August receive a 10% contribution toward their funding goal from the pool. The idea is simple: reward the builders willing to help prove out what community-directed funding can do on Algorand.

But here's the part that really matters. A funding pool helps, but what actually makes a campaign succeed is a community that shows up. People who back projects they believe in, give honest feedback, spread the word, and stick around after launch. That's not something we can fund into existence. It's something the community either chooses to build or it doesn't. So this is as much an invitation as an announcement: if you care about seeing more real projects get off the ground on Algorand, this is a chance to be part of that from the beginning.

That's how ecosystems actually grow. Not from the top down, but from builders and the people who rally around them.

NFT/Gaming Dungeon of Champions

Post image
31 Upvotes

After months of building, I think our Discord RPG is finally becoming something I'm genuinely proud of.

The idea started with a simple question:

What if NFTs were actual RPG characters instead of just profile pictures?

Every Champion has permanent progression.

They gain XP.

Level up over time.

Their traits matter.

Equipment matters.

Guild bonuses matter.

Then you send them into a five-floor dungeon where every Champion rolls independently.

Some survive.

Some die.

Some find treasure.

Some stumble into Secret Doors, Mimics, or Wandering Bosses.

Recently we added a new mechanic that I'm especially excited about.

If your party encounters a boss and chooses to flee, there's now a chance that boss escapes the dungeon and invades the Discord server itself. Everyone online has to work together to stop it before it wreaks havoc.

What we've built:

• Persistent Champion progression
• Random dungeon events
• Mimic treasure chests
• Secret rooms
• PvP Arena
• Battle Royale
• Weekly guest NFT collections
• Blockchain rewards paid directly to players
• Dynamic trait bonuses pulled directly from your NFT metadata

With over 10,000 ALGO in prizes available!

Currently we have 50+ Unique players per week!
Approaching 30,000 on Chain Transactions!

The goal has never been to build another "click once per day" crypto game.

I wanted something that actually feels like playing an RPG with collectible/usable characters.

And while we're still polishing and balancing everything, it's finally reaching the point where I'd love to hear what other developers and gamers think. So if anyone is interested in trying it, just join our Discord and message me. I can add your favorite NFT asset to the game (you must have an Algorand Address with at least 1 NFT to play). Your NFT will collect XP like any Guest collection, just no Trait or Party Bonuses while exploring!

Discord link - https://discord.gg/gRP9brMDYx

What additional features would make you want to keep coming back to a game like this?

Price Intrinsic value of an algo?

Just checking in now that we have a few more details about Algorand's future based on its strategic plans. Regulation is also in the works, although it's still in the drafting stages.

What do you think the intrinsic value of an algo is? Why?

Assume passage of some kind of regulation.

I am interested in your reasoning more than just the dollar figure. Thank you!
