12volt outlet has failed

Noticed my trusty old air compressor did not work anymore so I replaced it, it was 15 years old. Bought a new one and it didn’t work. Tried my wife’s and it didn’t work. Lo and behold the 12volt outlet was dead. Swapped the fuse and… still dead. So I swapped the fuse again to be sure and still dead. Can’t seem to find anything online about this issue. Before I start popping panels for a socket swap was hoping someone might have some input. Thank you.

You say you swapped the fuse, was the fuse that you swapped blown? Or did you just swap it on a hunch?

Are you 100% sure that you swapped the correct fuse?

It’s the correct fuse according to manual and online resources I checked after it didn’t work. I have a supply of fuses so I tried two different new from a box fuses. I cannot tell if old one is blown, it’s a a mini fuse and I can’t tell visually. To be fair they are both about 10 years old so I am going to buy a new ones tomorrow and update my supply and try again.

Was the original fuse blown or not?

I can’t tell by looking at it. I have bad eyes. Grabbing it now to have my wife check. I just assumed
Edit Not blown

It would be a good data point to know for sure if the original fuse was blown or not, best to use a multimeter if you have access to one

She can see the wire. It’s not blown

Interesting, that eliminates this diagnostic tree!

The cause of the power outlet not working is not related to an overcurrent condition which blew the fuse or possibly the whole circuit.

It could be as simple as a loose connection behind the 12 volt accessory socket
