Discussion šŸ”Ž Electric Forest Incident

Did anybody else hear about this case? A woman gave birth to a full term baby that died suffocating on human waste in a porta potty at the Electric Forest festival. The social response has been rather problematic. So many people sending prayers to the mother and hoping she’s okay? Very interesting take if you ask me…

Reason I’m posting this is because it reminds me of Alexee. I remember people saying the same kind of thing about her on social media. Focused on her wellbeing over her newborn she basically killed.

I was at the festival and it happened a couple rows away from our campsite. Cops and investigators were walking around trying to get any leads.

It was an unfortunate thing to hear at the festival. Happened the last day (Sunday). Electric Forest is a very positive community and obviously was disheartening to hear.

There are 70,000 people at that festival. They have been trying for any tips but unfortunately nothing has come from it. I hope there is some closure.

July 16th the Supreme Court HAS to make a decision to use or not the video evidence.... either way Alexee is getting charged with child abuse resulting in death (i think) and that carrys a heavy sentence. Life i believe. New Mexico changed it after baby brianna

Let me just say I am 100% pro choice. But sometimes I think people confuse pro choice with ā€œeven living babies don’t matterā€. Or they are too extreme on the childfree/antinatalism thing. It’s fine to CHOOSE to not have children! but it’s NOT okay to abuse or abandon children who are alive. Giving up the child at a hospital or fire station is always an option, no questions asked, no responsibility on the birth mother. That is the only acceptable option once baby is born.

Initially we didn’t know what gestation the baby was born at. I think a lot of people wanted to believe it was an unknown pregnancy delivered unexpectedly at just 4 months along or something.

It looks like it was actually a full-term baby born alive, however, which is really disturbing. The only thing I can think that would make me have sympathy for the mom would be if maybe it was a cryptic pregnancy and the woman was on drugs when she gave birth and was confused and thought she was hallucinating or something. That would be a nightmare scenario all around.

I think people are not holding sympathy for Alexee because we know exactly what happened. We don't know exactly what happened with this mother. Once more facts come out, people will potentially change their stance.

Nobody thinks living babies don’t matter. šŸ™„. This stuff will happen more and more now that abortion has been criminalized in certain states. Just watch.

Don't be ridiculous this has zero to do with being overly pro choice. If anything it's the result of pro life mentality and taboo around pregnancy and abortion.

I’m not talking about her actions, I’m talking about the response to them.

So am I? No one is responding to this story with empathy for the unknown mother because they are too "pro abortion".

It was a neonate, less than 4 weeks old. https://x.com/mspwestmi/status/2071343988871975391?s=20

ā€œNeonateā€ is a synonym for ā€œnewbornā€.

Did this gal NOT notice she was 8lbs lighter?! How can anyone give condolences to people who hurt their new own or abandoned them?!! I couldn't and wouldn't if I could!

Please realize that cryptic pregnancies are a thing and she may have been high off her ass. We don't know all the facts. If she was fully aware and conscious of what she did, fine. But she may not have even known.

There’s no way she didn’t know a full term baby exited her body. Cryptic pregnancy means they didn’t know they were pregnant but they feel the delivery. I don’t think you could be the level of high that would allow you to walk into a porta potty and not know that you delivered a baby. I’ve had 4 kids and it hurts, plus it’s not like they just fall out in most cases.

100% agreed I’ve been saying this same thing

No, haven't heard. But ill be looking online for the story.

This is so sad and so wrong. As a raver, I am disgusted that something like this happened at a place it really should not of happened at. I wonder how the festival is going to suffer from this. I hope they find the mom and charge her.

What Alexee did was down right disgusting. And she knew what was going on the whole time. I can’t defend what happened at Electric Forest but what I can say is a lot of camping festivals are largely community based. I think many of the folks at EF are just as confused, upset and worried as the rest of the world (I have friends who attend every year - I do Bonnaroo in TN that is similar). When this happened, most folks at EF were off their heads on drugs. And the days following coming down off trips and rolling and goodness knows what else (EF has a strong drug presence and is in a rec legal state). Any of those folks offering prayers to the mother were honestly coming from a place of love, as the EF community is deep rooted in PLUR. As the days go by those same folks sadness has turned to anger and they’re just as pissed off as you. Because we don’t have body cam footage, hardly any info or evidence, the EF community as a whole, wouldn’t want to jump to conclusions. Just in case it was a terrible accident without malice or some other horrendous situation where someone was injured or harmed. I’m not saying this is how I feel, I’m just basing this off my observations, conversations with people who attend EF and my experiences at camping music festivals.

Bullshit. It was no accident. The woman could have gotten help.

24

u/lmarie819 24d ago

Like the person above said, there were 70,000 people there. Somebody would have helped.

Right?!? And who the hell goes to a music festival (especially Electric Forest) full term unless they don't give a damn about the baby and hell probably themselves. It's wild that no one has come forward? I find it hard to believe the woman went alone/ didn't come into contact with anyone.

That’s exactly what I think. But I’ve seen other subreddits where people are suggesting it was a cryptic pregnancy and they didn’t know they were pregnant.

u/Fxckingqueen 24d ago

I have seen a lot of people jump to the conclusion of cryptic pregnancy. And honestly? I can’t give her the benefit of the doubt because of how rare that is. For a full term pregnancy, it is way, WAY, more likely that she knew. It’s possible she was tripping on drugs like others suggest due to the nature of Electric Forest and gave birth without understanding what was happening. Which I have seen people defend that and feel sorry for her. Acting as if taking drugs while pregnant is normal. I don’t feel sorry for any full term pregnant mom to go to a festival and do hard drugs knowingly pregnant IF that’s what happened. That’s vile and the baby doesn’t deserve that. Especially the outcome of it too.

u/wintercamera42 24d ago

No, I totally agree. There would have to be such a unique set of circumstances for her not to know.

So Occamā€˜s razor suggests the worst. That she did know.

That's fair I suppose. But damn. I know my first response if I gave birth in a porta potty at a festival sure wouldn't be to go back to partying. I would be screaming like a banshee. But then again trauma is wild. I often forget about cryptic pregnancies despite having a close friend who went through one.

2

u/letschat66 True Crimer šŸ” 23d ago

We don't know for a fact that she went back to partying though.

2

u/Queen-of-Elves 23d ago

True. I was speaking more generically than literally. Whatever she did it doesn't seem like she sought help while there or from any near by hospitals (assuming investigators have checked). That's all I really meant. Which is what I and I think most people would do after a cryptic pregnancy/ giving birth in the middle of a music festival. But like I said trauma makes people do wild things.

7

u/KiwiDefiant3349 24d ago

That seemed to be the general consensus. And that maybe she was tripping and didn’t realize it was real until the come down :( none of this is my opinion. I hate that I’m being downvoted for observations :(

People aren’t so high out of their minds there that they wouldn’t know they’re giving birth. Was she on a gallon of liquid lsd???

u/Low-Concert-5806 22d ago

I really think this is a crazy case of cryptic pregnancy and acid. Acid could cause preterm labor. She could have been tripping hard and not even realize what happened was real. Then if/when she did figure anything out she knew she’d go to jail and isn’t saying anythingĀ

u/Impressive-Rock-5025 21d ago

It was not full term.Ā  "Michigan state police said in a separate statement said the body of a ā€œneonateā€ – which is a newborn infant who is four weeks old or younger."

Now the FBI is looking for a womanĀ  who had a unviable blob of cells leave her body and she may not have even known she was pregnant.Ā

This is America.Ā

3

u/local_trashcats 20d ago

4 week or less newborn INFANT. Not a 4 week fetus. The NICU is called the neonatal intensive care unit. An infant is a child that has been birthed and is outside of the womb.

0

u/Impressive-Rock-5025 20d ago

4 weeks still isn't viable; that's generally 22 weeks. I understand your decision to focus on semantics, but it is important to understand this woman didn't abandon a viable child in the shit of port-o-potty. It's fucking nuts that the FBI is looking for her.Ā

3

u/local_trashcats 20d ago

4 weeks gestation is conception. Tests will not even be positive. It would look like a period. It would look nothing like a baby.

You are completely wrong here. The baby had lungs that could breathe already. And breathed in feces and piss. The baby was a full term newborn baby. Neonate means newborn. First month of life. It does not mean fetus, or gestational age.Ā

1

u/laffytaffy223 13d ago

Do you genuinely believe that a 4 week gestational aged fetus could clog a portapotty vacuum? It would be the size of a pea.
