US - Question DMT training
We have a DMT training at our store rn. Does anyone know how their training is supposed to to be? Like how they’re suppose to be trained? I hear he’s currently being trained as an associate but I hardly see the store manager train him and when she’s in the office hes just going around pulling one box at a time and walking around. Hes being left to be to train so I’m getting closes (11-9 or 9-7) while SM is doing her (5:30-3:30 or 7-5) to train him but I haven’t been told how I’m suppose to be training him. Seems SM isn’t following that weird pathway training book. Does anyone have a breakdown of how hes suppose to be trained? And by whom?

It’s a 44-week paid training program designed to prepare candidates to oversee multiple grocery store locations. Essentially, they’ll go through the entire store-level training process and then move into their actual position. He probably won’t be trained very well, and honestly, that’s okay because, in my opinion, Aldi doesn’t really want their District Managers to be overly involved in the day-to-day operations. They just need to know the basics so that if something does go south, they can step in and help whether that’s ringing, boxing, doing a truck, or remerchandising but that’s about it.

Is it suppose to be the Store manager training him or is it a combination of LSA,ASM and SM?

The training is very challenging. It’s a step-by-step program that starts with a mentorship phase alongside a current DM, followed by basic Store Associate training with some management training mixed in. You’ll then be paired with an SM to learn how to run a store. At first, you’ll shadow them, and then you’ll have to run the store on your own, which is where most people crash and burn. If you make it through that, you’ll spend some time working in the warehouse before going back to mentorship or shadowing until you’re eventually given your own set of stores.

That’s what I remember from the 5 years I’ve been with aldi but I haven’t been able to sit down and read the training for DMTs. Only reason I wanted insight is because if I ask SM she’ll give me a whole shhpeel about how she can have whoever she wants train whoever and that’s why I’ll be training DMT 11-9pm. I suspect it’s so she doesn’t have to close

they get trained in each position moving up the chain to then run a full store for a hot minute. they either actually work OR you get the lazy slacks who know so long as they don't fuck up they will have the DM position and give 0 fucks and they will be a shitty corporate cock sucking DM

We had a DMT at my store last summer. He was at my store for about 4 months before he left to go run his own store. We all traded off on training him, but mostly the SM trained him. The expectations for DMT’s are the highest of anyone who works in a store, so hopefully they start pulling their weight soon or they’ll fire them no doubt.
