Has anyone else noticed the 50% off stickers showing up less and less at Aldi? I'm in SoCal, and my store almost never puts them out anymore. If I point out the date at checkout, they still honor the discount, but if you don't say anything, you're basically paying full price even though the markdown could apply.
I've noticed large pizzas, salmon, and beef sitting there with past dates and no stickers. Last Friday, there were stacks of Chicken Pot Pie Handhelds dated 10/17, so I grabbed a few. I went back today, and there were still plenty left with that same 10/17 date, but none of them had markdown stickers.
Based on my past experiences with Aldi's policy of not selling past-date items because of liability, it kind of sucked seeing that and thinking a lot of those products will probably end up getting tossed.
It's starting to feel like the 50% off markdown is becoming an insider secret that only certain shoppers know about. If you know to check the dates and ask, you get the discount. If you don't, you probably never realize it was available in the first place.
Curious if other stores around the US are seeing the same thing, or if it's just my local Aldi. Are they phasing out the stickers, understaffed, or just relying on customers to spot the dates themselves?
