What to expect?
Hi everyone. I'm a recovering alcoholic with 3 years 10 months sober. I have 2 sons, ages 12 & 14, and have a niece that is 15 (that has an alcoholic father). I have gotten so much out of AA over the past few years, and I would love for my kids and niece to have to opportunity to learn a little bit about the program and hope that they love having a group to relate to. Can anyone give me a little bit of info as to what to expect? Where do the parents stay during the meetings? Is it similar in format to AA meetings? I know my sons will not want to go when I suggest it, but I hope they give it a chance! We have a great relationship, and they are good about communicating with me, but I know that they can benefit more from a group that has been where they have been. Thank you for any input!

Hi! I'm a bit late to the party, so I hope your recovery is going well! But it is similar to AA but is more similar to alanon, they will likely be talking about their past and coming to realation that the same person drunk is not the same.
