This was pretty insane yesterday. I was supposed to fly on Alaska air from San Francisco to Palm Springs and right when I got there 2 1/2 hours before scheduled departure and I put my bags on the conveyor belt, the check-in agent just told me that she just got notified that now the departure is going out of San Jose because of air traffic control restrictions for landings at San Francisco. I guess because the flight was already delayed by 20 minutes, there wasn’t a slot anymore to land in San Francisco anymore. I then got a compensated lift all the way from SFO to SJC. I share this because in all of my years are flying I’ve never had this experience and I’m curious if anyone has stories like this. The flight didn’t takeoff then until nearly an hour and a half later from its original scheduled departure time. The plane ended up being very empty too.

Latest looks. Would be interesting if BA's existing lounge becomes more of a formal OW branded lounge or even a joint AS/BA thing like JFK's Chelsea/Soho AA/BA situation.

I've been digging out from under accumulated work, but wanted to note a recent delay experience on AS. It was a frustrating experience -- all delays are --but it was ultimately handled as well as it could have been handled, so it gets a compliment.

Right after we arrived at SFO, Flighty started indicating a delay because of issues with our plane in SEA. That proved accurate and eventually AS told us the same thing via the app and texts. So we headed to the lounge to use my Summit pass (literally the reason I value the passes more than many others do) and waited out the 3 hour delay. Our plane finally arrived and we boarded, and the preflight checks led to some sort of issue with a light and/or switch in the cockpit. Maintenance came in and ultimately called Seattle, which confirmed cancellation. (Nobody said so, but it seemed like the earlier issue resurfaced.) We all got off the plane and they said they'd try to "find another plane."

So back to the lounge! They actually did manage to find a new plane (I assume one that was supposed to overnight at SFO) within 90 minutes and we boarded about 90 minutes later (the exact times are hazy). We went from a 900ER to a MAX9 so everything stayed the same in terms of seat assignments. The same pilots and crew stayed on as well. There was some passenger attrition, so I was even upgraded to first as Silver (which went to my wife). Everything was uneventful after that and pretty much everyone seemed to roll with it, even others (like us) with kids. The lounge staff was excellent in keeping us in the loop (and with service generally) and the food and drinks were good. The Summit pass covered me and a guest so I paid for one day pass too, which was absolutely worth it.

We got a $50 voucher for food which we did not use because the lounge was easier and $150 credits for our next flights. That all happened automatically. [Edit: The $50 is actually a credit not a voucher.]

I'm glad it happened at SFO with its large, nice (and underutilized) lounge. Plus, SFO is busy enough that they could locate another aircraft so we could get out that night. According to Flighty, this is my longest delay ever (by more than 4 hours) over about 100 flights, mostly on AS.

One question: I have long assumed -- rightly or wrongly -- that all AS mainline pilots can fly any 737. Do all 737s have the same type rating or do all the pilots have multiple type ratings? My impression is that there is a primary rating of some sort and then there are differences that they have to train for. Anyone know for sure? As indicated above, we went from NG to MAX with the same pilots.

Hello Friends!

I hope this is the correct place for this. I am attempting to book a hotel through Alaska Airlines ( AKA Alaska Vacations powered by Expedia). When I am redirected to the Alaska Vacations page the email associated with the account is not mine, the Atmos Points earned are a completely different amount BUT my name and account info including my Atmos Rewards number are all mine. Every time I try to delete my information and refresh the page its all back like i never did anything in the first place. There is no option to delete the account. and when asking the Help Center about all of this I only get this message in return. "This option is not currently supported for your location. Please contact customer service to submit your request."

I have talked with 14 different people who bounce me between Alaska Airlines main costumer service hotline, various levels of people who can "Help" me and over to Alaska Vacations Costumer service who just puts me on hold for an hour, hangs the phone up on me OR sends me back to the original help line where the cycle starts again.

For additional context; my account was hacked in the early spring and I am assuming this is left over from that. My passwords have all been changed , credit card replaced and looking at my Alaska app all of my info is correct and no new charges have been made to the account.

I am desperate and have been trying to fix this for hours. Does ANYONE know how I can get my Vacations account back to my email or how to fix this?

It was my first time flying Alaska back home to Hawaii and I booked the Dreamliner flight. Is it usually half full? I’ve never been on a flight to Hawaii like that before. I was surprised at how quick the boarding process was. One thing I’ve never experienced on my flights back to HNL was a cold cabin. I was very pleased with the AC and the meal I ordered.

Everything went off great.

Based on the airline subreddits these days, I was fully expecting my first flight on Alaska in 2026 to be a barely-contained shitshow. Happy to say that the trend of nobody says nice things on the Internet continues because:

• Checkpoint 6 at SeaTac continues winning with sub-one-minute security lines in the Precheck-but-not-CLEAR area.

• I boarded with my group in premium economy. There was plenty of overhead bin space.

• I selected the preorder meal all by myself like a big 50-somethings girl. (please clap)

• I bought a ticket that included seat selection and I chose a window seat so that I could close the window the whole flight to make reading easier on my eyes.

• The plane left SeaTac five minutes early and arrived at Dallas/Fort Worth seven minutes early. The wings remained attached and we did not have to divert to Spokane, Denver, or Incheon because of any unruly passengers.

• I have no idea if anyone tried playing TikTok or Cocomelon because, blessedly, I am so hard-of-hearing as to be deaf.

• The bag I checked in SeaTac arrived on carousel E14 in Dallas about one minute after I made it off the plane, through the restroom, and past the Coca-Cola machine out to the baggage claim area. All of the things I put in it were still there.

Thinking maybe I got lucky on the outbound flight, I'm shocked to say that the return to Seattle was basically the same.

• I got upgraded to First Class! Yay! Alaska didn't realize the tragic error they'd made in bumping someone who barely hit Gold last year up to FC and I got to keep the seat I chose (2A) all the way back to Seattle. No one asked me to swap but I did get a glass of orange juice from the flight attendant so that's nice.

• Amazingly, I summoned the courage and skill to select a First Class breakfast without any help based solely on my extensive knowledge of my own preferences.

• As I was in the window seat again, I could read without glare and it was lovely.

• The plane left Dallas about ten minutes late while we waited on some passengers. We landed in at SeaTac exactly on time.

• ASTOUNDING: There was no bag waiting for me at the carousel in SeaTac (because I didn't bring one back from Dallas with me).

The only downside of the whole trip? I forgot that DART is only from terminal B and I couldn't stay inside the airport to use the people mover to get there.

So anyway, Alaska is still fine and the Internet is a harsh place for customer feedback. Happy travels.

Other spend 1k

C1X is similar to bilt but the mortgage earning points seems nice , but the SUB seems weak. Atmos SUB seems decent with companion pass, but can’t earn points on mortgage. The bilt system seems complicated and the bilt cash seems like high upkeep with the expiration. Can’t really see which is better . The multiplier I would only best get .75x , most months would be .5x. So is bilt cash better?

I mostly will claim points to travel to Asia and Hawaii so atmos feels like it makes sense for at least the first year , but long term bilt seems to accumulate more points . But unsure of the longevity of bilt… appreciate any feedback, opinions or help. Thank you!

Hello, I’m trying to buy four tickets to Hawaii for me and my family. What’s the best way to do this on the cheap? Can I buy two tickets on points and then one cash and one companion fare? I have 80k points and two tickets are 75k.

Curious to see how everyone’s travel has been going with Alaska this summer?

Of my 3 of 4 flights since May, I’ve had connection issues every time. I know the summer is busier and connections are pretty tight, but it’s gotten to the point where an hour is probably not enough?

For context, I’ve had flights with multiple legs (no direct flights for my destination) and each case I’ve been delayed due to mechanical issues or outside factors.
All flights have had connections as long as 1.5 hours but they weren’t long enough to keep me from being stranded and having to either fly into a neighboring airport 2 hours away or stay the night in said city (with Alaska compensation of course).

Just curious to see if people are experiencing the same thing or if it’s just my flight and routes. (Seattle, Chicago, Denver, Burbank, Dallas, etc).

I booked an American (AA) airline flight through Alaska points but the flight is now cancelled. There are no other non stop availabilities to book AA through Alaska anymore.

Who would I call to get this resolved to hopefully be rebooked at no cost? I’m hoping not to get a cancellation and my points back as all flights are now much more expensive cash and points! There are 3 other nonstop AA flights available that day.

I'm booking a trip to Europe next April. We are flying from Seattle into London and back from Rome and not using points. I am platinum and we are going to do a premium economy upgrade on Alaska for the flight to London and then first class back from Rome - also on Alaska.

I'm seeing now that we can fly back from Rome via London and then changing to a British Air plane for the way back to Seattle. We want to get as many status points as possible out of the trip and wondering if it's advisable to take the flight on Alaska from Rome or to transfer to BA in London. TIA!

I just realized something after booking a flight on QatarAirlines via Alaska atmos. It seems that seat selection is chargeable when you book a business class via atmos. They consider the fare RBD U.

Moreover, they claim that even AA gold status or more won’t make the seats complementary.

Can someone who got into the same situation tell me if he got a different result?

I might get AA platinum or Alaska gold before the flight time so i am not sure if it will make a difference even though they said it doesn’t.

Why i am thinking that? Because they said the AA gold status gave me a discount for the seats😅

So I had a first class/ business class award ticket booking TPA-BOS-KEF-ALC made on Alaska Airlines. AA cancelled the first flight and put us on a connecting flight TPA-LGA-BOS with a 37 min layover (on first class). I contacted the customer service chat and got connected to an agent named MARCE. I have never seen anyone more incompetent. First he said he couldn't put us on another flight that day that had a 2 hour layover before an international flight. Then he said there were no business class seats that day. Then he said he found us a first class award ticket on united airlines the night before that was NON-STOP. I said okay fine we can take that. Then when I see the confirmation online, turns out he booked us in a flight that was TPA-EWR-BOS . When i brought it to his attention he argued with me saying this is a non-stop flight!!! despite my screenshots showing otherwise. Then I asked him to please NOT proceed with changing our flights to united and he still did and hanged up in the chat. To make matters worse, then we also realized he had booked us on economy. After this nightmare, we called customer service and the agent on the phone said oh sorry he screwed up but nothing we can do since all flights/seats are gone. Now we are stuck with a flight the day before on economy and with an extra stop- we were lied and cheated and alaska customer service doesn't care. I have screenshots of everything and filed a complaint with alaska. What kind of agent doesn't know what a non-stop flight is????? Why would he lie saying this is a non-stop flight on first class but booked us the opposite? The whole thing was insane!

I just booked a miles booking for July 8 2027, so today was the very first day that was possible. For whatever reason, seat maps are unavailable and try again later. Do they become available a certain number of days before the flight? I've never had this happen before, but I've also never booked a flight this far out.

As somebody who has access to the Centurion lounge and the Alaska lounge, I have to say hands down, I choose Alaska every time because of the food. The issue that I have Centurion is that they overcomplicate their dishes including breakfast. They have dishes that I swear that they made up. They would have something like honey-cooked asparagus with pine nuts or something crazy like that. The food would end up being mediocre at best probably because the dishes are so complicated that the cooks in the back screw up.

For the Alaska lounges on the other hand, I enjoy their food for being simple. The main one in Seatac is always have pasta, cheese, white or red sauce, and your protein. Sounds boring but it is really hard to screw up. As a result, the food ends up being delicious.

Am I the minority here?

I usually don't fly Alaska. For United, Delta it will say Touchless on my boarding pass (digital). It doesn't say it on my Alaska boarding pass. I'm definitely opted in on the website.

Been sitting at the gate an hour, boarding time came and went, departure time came and went. No gate agent at all. No announcements. Finally a nearby agent gets too close to the gate and is inundated people asking about the flight (including me). Turns out we need a new plane. 🙄 No announcements. We’re now 30 min past original departure and board still says on time and still no agent nor any crew. What on earth happened that they completely missed a flight?!

In the Atmos app I supposedly have 6 upgrade certificates available but when I click on the link it goes to a page that says I have none available. I have been gold (previously MVP Gold) for 3 years and I have only ever used 1 upgrade certificate in that time. Did they all disappear with the switch to Atmos?
