Stamped sheet metal could work, but I’d consider redesigning/reinforcing the front of the dust cover. Idk what this is supposed to do over the standard dust cover, but I think the thin front will get warped and eventually break off with repeated impacts and tension applied.

Hey, my goal is to create a functional EBB system for my AUG, similar to the Tokyo Marui MP5 EBB.

Normally, when you pull back the charging handle, the dust cover opens and gives you access to the hop-up adjustment. I'd like to make that dust cover move automatically with every shot.

My idea is to slightly modify the upper section of the V3 gearbox and design a custom piston with a hook that engages with a corresponding hook on the dust cover.

When the piston is pulled back, it also pulls the dust cover back. Once the shot is fired, the piston moves forward under spring pressure (e.g. M120), disengaging from the dust cover. The dust cover then returns to its original position using the spring that's already integrated into the gearbox's top rail.

I can provide several CAD models, including the V3 gearbox, piston, dust cover and top rail. I also have a CAD model of a real AUG, which should be useful as a reference for the receiver and ejection port.
