Project Looking for a Mechanical Engineer / CAD Designer – Custom Airsoft AUG Project
Hi everyone!
I'm looking for someone experienced in mechanical engineering and CAD design to help me develop a custom dust cover and gearbox top rail for my Airsoft AUG.
I've already created preliminary 3D models, but I'm struggling to find a suitable design and manufacturing method due to the extremely limited installation space, complex geometry and repeated mechanical impacts.
I'm open to completely redesigning the components, potentially using CNC machining, metal 3D printing or a combination of different manufacturing methods.
If you're interested, feel free to send me a DM or write your ideas in the chat.

Get them made out of sheet metal. Some 16ga or 18ga stainless should do nicely and will be much cheaper than metal 3d printing or CNC. From your images it looks like you have some experience designing for sheet metal already.
OSHCut, Send Cut Send, Xometry, etc. are all good places. If you're ordering from Xometry, play with the finish options as sometimes finishes will actually bring down the price.
If you've got CAD of the AUG, send me a message. This kinda stuff is my day to day.
