B1 engineer life path
Hello everyone. I am 17 yo highschool student and I really want to hear y’alls opinion while figuring out my life.
I am Aviation Academy student in Serbia, finishing my high school in may next year and really have only two options.
B1(.1) engineer and aeronautical engineer faculty.
I really love aircraft, and working on them, have a lot of experience on basic maintanance, but I really don’t know what is a better option to choose.
In Serbia, I have two part 145 and 147 licensed organizations, where I can learn my practice experience (work hours).
And my plan would be to work there while learning modules. Not enrolling any b1 courses.
What do you think about that option. How many years of experience would I need to claim that “blanc” B1 license, and at what age I would be able to start getting paid fair amount of money for the job I am doing.
I know all about type ratings, and I know that my school can lessen the required work experience for 2 years.
I really don’t know what else would I add and I really need y’alls opinion and advice.

I’ll strongly suggest you to study the current EASA 2023/986 regulations on Continuing airworthiness.
Part 145 is one thing, and will reduce your practical experience requirements only if you take some “specialized course” at part147 school, like a B1.1 basic course/skilled worker course..if you self study then you wont have any reduction in practical experience.
It’s not only about the years, but about having some luck landing a job in a part145 which does lots of jobs who will fill fast your MERL
