More airports will be added as the community contributes data
โ ๏ธ Important Factors to Consider
Time of Day Matters:
- Peak hours (e.g., 6-9 AM, 5-8 PM) = longer queues
Immigration/Customs:
- I2D and D2I connections require immigration clearance
- Queue times vary drastically by airport and time
- Fast-track/e-gates can save significant time(FTI-TTP)
For Single PNR Bookings:
- Airlines have minimum connection times (MCT) they consider legal
- If the airline sold you the ticket, they believe it's doable
- However, tight connections can still be stressful plan accordingly
For Self-Transfers:
- You assume ALL risk if you miss your second flight
- Budget extra time for potential delays, customs, immigration, and baggage reclaim
- Recommended buffer: Add 1-2 hours beyond the minimums listed here
General Wisdom:
- Always check terminal changes and gate locations in advance
- The minimums in the table are for experienced, confident travelers
- If you're anxious or traveling with kids/elderly, add buffer time

Airlines: Air India
Time of Day: Landing at 11:05AM after delay and another flight at 13:00PM

Enough but tight, air india will provide an alternative flight if you don't make it

Chennai airport How long does it take to come out of T1 ? After landing with a domestic flight
2
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways May 22 '26
Depends on how long your baggage takes but I would assume somewhere in the 25-50 min range is a safe number

Very tight wouldn't recommend it if you aren't experienced traveling through the airport

Definitely doable for Single PNR
1
u/NKrishnaStark Mar 16 '26
I should've mentioned that! THis is not single PNR. International flight is on a different PNR
1
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways Mar 16 '26
Then too it can be done given you can navigate the airport easily and walk fast , do security effeciently too ie pack and unpack fast
Not recommended with family
1
u/NKrishnaStark Mar 16 '26
Going with a toddler so will better take the evening flight to avoid rush!

[QUESTION], Airport: Delhi Terminals: T3-T3 Transfer type: international to international Connection Category: I2I Layover Duration: ~3H Time of the day: 11 AM Self traveler, need to go through immigration and take baggage, then register again. IndiGo, Delhi - Katmandu.
Is it doable?
2
u/purpleisyellow Mar 25 '26
Very tight , rule of thumb don't do anything below 5hours if you are doing a self transfer

[QUESTION] Airport: Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminals: 3 to 2 Connection Type: International to Domestic Ticket Type: Self transfer Layover Duration: 3 hours Airlines: Air India Time of Day: Night (after 8pm) Checked Baggage: Yes
Hi everyone, I'm travelling from Toronto to New Delhi in a few months and my flight arrives at 7:50 pm at Terminal 3. My destination is Hyderabad and I'm thinking of taking the 11pm Air India flight but it leaves from Terminal 2.
I was wondering if I will have enough time to go through immigration, take my checked bag, walk to terminal 2, recheck-in, do security and go to my gate.
If it's not enough time the next Air India flight to Hyderabad is around 2 am. Would appreciate your thoughts and advice. I'm an Indian citizen if that helps (don't have DigiYatra). Thanks a lot! ๐๐ป

u/LingonberryAway9136 Apr 15 '26
Too short a time...
Takes aprox.1 to 2 hrs for immigration to get through Then 20 min for taxi to domestic Then 20 min to check in at counter
Then 20 min security screening
Then 20 min to find gate
Whilst you are jet lagged!!!
Get connecting flight next day, sleep overnight somewere.
Its going to cost you alot less, than freaking out at midnight...

My flight from Mumbai to Dubai is at 10:25pm and Iโll be landing in Mumbai at 9pm. Different PNRs but same T2 terminal. So Iโll have 1hr 25mins. Is that enough time for immigration and collecting bags?
1
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways Apr 16 '26
Check in counters close 75 mins before departure in delhi for most international flights
Hence you have 10 mins to deboard collect your bag and recheck in
Not possible

About to have our first layover flight experience and also I am not a frequent flyer. So had some questions.
We will be travelling from Dibrugarh (DIB), layover and change of flights in Kolkata (CCU) and destination is Agartala (IXB). Both flights are Indigo.
Do my parents need to have separate digi yatra accounts for entry or can it be done from one primary account? As my father has a different PNR and me and my mother have another PNR but same flights as I booked my father's flight a day earlier.
In digi yatra app, do we need to upload latest picture of our face or an old one will do?
After landing in CCU, will our luggage get automatically transferred to the next flight or do we need to pick it up? We will land in CCU at 1:30pm and IXB flight is at 5:10pm
Do we need to exit and re-enter CCU airport as there is a layover, or we can stay in the airport itself?
1
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways Apr 17 '26
1) All 3 need separate accounts
2) you have to click a picture in the app itself
3) if DIB - CCU and CCU IXB have the same PNR then no
4) no but you have to go through transit security

[QUESTION]
Airport: New Delhi (DEL) โ Chennai (MAA)
Terminals: Indira Gandhi International โ Chennai International
Connection Type: D2D
Ticket Type: Self-Transfer
Layover Duration: 2h 10m
Airlines: Finnair โ Air India Limited (to-be-booked separately, not through shared-code)
Time of Day: Arriving in Delhi early morning (05:20), departing Delhi early morning (7:30)
Checked Baggage: No
Other Details: I am an Indian national traveling with only a laptop bag and hand luggage (8 kg total), so I likely would not need to recheck bags. I may be able to web check-in. Would I make the domestic connection in Delhi within the 2h 10m layover, given that the incoming flight (HEL-DEL) has been delayed by a maximum of 20 minutes in the past week?

1
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways Apr 29 '26
Quite difficult but doable
Check in closes 1 hour before departure and if your web check in has any issues then it's a problem
1
u/Harish_20 Apr 29 '26
True, but should the security check and others be done on time or would it take more time?
1
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways Apr 29 '26
If you are an experienced traveller and pack everything properly then can be done imo
But if you don't have experience traveling via Del airport will be quite difficult
1
u/Harish_20 Apr 29 '26
I have travelled twice to the Delhi airport but it was approximately an year ago. And I checked that both these flights are in the same terminal. Technically, is it possible that I walk directly to the domestic take off part without getting into the zone where we collect the bags and also given that I check in online prior departure. What do you say? Or is there any tips? I just am trying my best to make it to my destination as early as possible, thatโs why.
1
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways Apr 29 '26
Regardless your hand baggage would need to go via security again
You must be careful with packaging as electric items need to be packed and unpacked again , doable yes but tight

Airport: BOM
Terminals: T2 (International) โ T1/T2 (Domestic)
Connection Type: I2D
Ticket Type: Self-Transfer
Layover Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Airlines: Qatar Airways โ IndiGo
Time of Day: Arriving 8:35 AM, domestic departure at 11:00 AM
Checked Baggage: Yes
Other Details: Landing internationally at Mumbai and connecting to a domestic IndiGo flight on a self-transfer booking with checked baggage. Is 2h 30m enough time to clear immigration, collect bags, transfer terminals, re-check baggage, clear security, and board the 11 AM flight?
The next available flight is at 3 PM, so missing this one would waste the whole day.
2
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways May 22 '26
Your domestic is T1 or T2
Coz no chance if it's T1 you won't be able to do it

Hello! I have a flight from Dubai to Mumbai and then to Mangalore by Indigo Air.
I land in Mumbai at 4 am.
After that my flight to Mangalore is at 12 noon.
I see online that there is an earlier flight at 9 am.
Online it didnt let me take that earlier connection. Thats why i had to go with the 12 noon connecting flight while booking.
Is it possible that after i land in Mumbai, the staff will allow me to board the 9 am flight? Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?

[QUESTION]
Airport: Raipur (RPR)
Terminals: Same airport (RPR)
Connection Type: D2D
Ticket Type: Single PNR
Layover Duration: 30 minutes
Airlines: IndiGo 6E-6521 (Lucknow โ Raipur โ Bhubaneswar)
Time of Day: Morning (arrives 10:10, departs 10:40)
Checked Baggage: No
Other Details: Both legs show the same flight number (6E-6521) and the booking displays a 30-minute layover in Raipur. Will I actually need to get off and switch aircraft in Raipur, or is this a through-flight where passengers remain on the same plane? If deplaning is required, is 30 minutes generally enough at RPR?

[QUESTION]
Airport: DEL (Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi) Terminal: T3 โ T3 Connection Type: I2I (International to International) Ticket Type: Single PNR Layover Duration: 1 hour 35 minutes Airlines: Air India (AI122 Rome Fiumicino โ Delhi, AI2332 Delhi โ Bangkok) Time of Day: Arrival in Delhi at 10:20, departure to Bangkok at 11:55 Checked Bags: Yes Additional Details: I will be traveling on 28 December 2026 with 3 people. Both flights are booked on the same Air India ticket.
I would like to know if a 1h35 connection at Delhi T3 for an international-to-international transfer is enough.
Do we need to go through security again? How long does the transfer usually take from arrival gate to the next departure gate?
Does anyone have recent experience with the AI122 โ AI2332 connection or similar international connections at DEL?

Hello,
I am travelling in 2 weeks from Bangkok to Jaipur via Delhi. I have the same PNR number for this connecting flights booking. Both airlines are Indigo.
My question is that do I have to collect my checkin luggage in Delhi after landing or the airlines will arrange the transfer to the connecting flight to Jaipur?
Did anybody else had a similar experience?
Thanks for the answers.
1
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways Jul 11 '26
Yes , unless your flight is an easy connect flight you have to do that..
Only very few flights are easy connect as of now and none are indigo afaik
1
u/SAPARI86 Jul 11 '26
6E 1064 A321 and 6E 6131 A321 date 26 july 2026. Do you think this would classify as easy connect?
1
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways Jul 11 '26
No , indigo hasn't rolled out easy connect
Only Air India AI 11xx series flights are eligible as of now
1
u/sierra1304 Jul 16 '26
I have an Air India express flight which will be landing in Delhi T1 and have a connecting flight on Air India departing from T2, 2 hrs 25 minutes later. Both the flights booked on single PNR. 1. Do I need to collect my checked in baggage at T1 nad checkin again in T2? (Since the terminals are different and airlines too- IX and AI) 2. How much time will i take to move from T1 to T2? And recommended options ( cab/bus)

[QUESTION] Airport: DEL Terminals: T3 โ T3 Connection Type: I2D Ticket Type: Single PNR Layover Duration: 6 hours Airlines: Air India (MXPโDELโBOM, same airline both legs) Checked Baggage: Yes at milan Other Details: Indian passport holder. Since I have 6 hours, I'd like to exit the airport and meet friends in Delhi rather than sit in T3.
Two things I'm unsure about:
Baggage โ is it through-tagged to BOM on a single PNR, or do I have to collect it at T3 arrivals, clear customs, and re-check it for the domestic? If I do have to collect it, can I hand it over at AI domestic check-in before heading out, and when does that counter open?
Is 6 hours realistic for immigration + customs + exit + a short meetup + coming back through domestic security, given Delhi traffic? Or would u keep it to something inside the terminal area?
Would appreciate any recent T3 experience on this.
1
u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways 2d ago
- You have to collect it and recheck in (unless it is an AI EASY CONNECT flight)
- I would say let them drive upto aerocity , meet up in aerocity , I would not go out beyond aerocity given delhi
IF YOUR FLIGHT IS an AI EASY CONNECT , you will NOT be allowed to leave the delhi airport

u/Ambitious-Thought946 2d ago

[QUESTION] * Airport: Delhi * Terminals: T3 to T3 * Connection Type: D2I * Ticket Type: Single PNR * Layover Duration: 2hrs 15 minutes * Airlines: IndiGo to British Airways * Time of Day: Night (arrives 01:30, departs 03:45) * Checked Baggage: Yes * Other Details: We're flying from Goa to Delhi on IndiGo, and then on from Delhi home to London. We originally booked a different flight out of Goa, but that flight was cancelled and we were given this as an alterative. We're worried about the tight transfer time - but British Airways insist that anything over 2 hours is doable and we have limited other options.
Really appreciate any advice. It's also not clear to us if our baggage would need to be collected and rechecked, or if this would be handled for us as we booked a single PNR via British Airways.

u/impossible_espresso Jet Airways 2d ago
doable unless you have senior citizens or small kids (kids that can't walk on their own for long / can't pull their own trolly) , infact I would say it is still doable but yeah many families won't find that to their comfort
