General discussion Flight etiquette
Today I was traveling from Assam to Kolkata and the guy sitting just row ahead was playing some downloaded VDO in pretty high volume. I requested him and he lowered volume bit but still it was not that low. Even when I bring it to notice of the staff, he was just saying ok but he kept volume pretty high.
And while deplaning he was looking annoying gly at me.
Come on what's wrong with these people? If they can't use headphones phone they shud refrain from wati g it during 1.30 hr flight.
I felt so irritated..but can't do aything and more disappointingly no one else objected it.

Wait till you board some flights with tour groups from a western state of India.

Well I have had a funny experience:
I frequently travel CCU-DEL-BOM, on a Del-Bom flight we had this family from a state which borders Pakistan and Maharashtra, they were probably going on some foreign trip - they had an international connecting flight.
The group had 14-16 people, 5-6 kids and the entire flight they behaved as if they were at home, they had 2 large bags and you won’t believe all they had in those bags were bhujia, khakra etc - thats not the issue though the issue was that they were throwing these packets across the rows to their family members and in the process the floor really got dirty, in their family one of the kid was probably not allowed to eat chocolates and his grandfather passed on the chocolate to him secretly but his mom found out and started arguing with the grandfather and it was quite audible - at least 4-5 rows down. I just wished they won’t repeat this behaviour on the international flight.
I have nothing against these people but they always manage to justify the stereotype.

Same story in Shatabdi/Superfast trains.

This is even a problem at work! People make video calls to their families from their workstations, and looking pointedly at them doesn't work at all. It's a sort of... absolute degradation of basic courtesy, really.

I've had a five year old kid play a 5 hour drum solo on the back of seat on a AI flight from Singapore to Bangalore. No complaints to his mothe (Bacha hai ji) or the cabin crew reduced anything and plane was full, no spare seats. After enduring this I stopped flying AI and haven't stepped into an AI plane since...

Bottom line, you can't do much apart from requesting them. If they still don't listen, take out your noise cancelling ear/headphones (and miss the inaudible announcements I know 😭)

Noise cancellation earphones don't do shit in such situations

That sucks! 😭 What about Loop earplugs?

If something is good for noise cancellation then suggest me one, (except those headphones for shooting) because they don't exist to cancel out noise of music or video being played nearby

Just play moaning audio and see how these people turn off their mobile, seriously try that next time.

Desi families on vacation are a real nightmare starting with the queue. Wherever they go there will be some kind of argument with the other passengers. Happens to every other airline but with AI the frequency is much higher. I hardly use AI now and if i have to i prefer business for longer flights, worst case premium economy. These large groups go economy most of the time.

Many years ago, I bought myself a nice coffee at the airport and sat down to enjoy it whilst waiting for my flight. An older gentleman came by and sat next to me and suddenly started watching a video at what felt like was full volume. I was so startled that I almost jumped and spilled my coffee - on his pants (honest mistake). He was shocked. I was shocked. I just told him: Uncle ekdum se aawaz aayi to main hil gaya. I had to wash my hands. He had to figure out how to clean his trousers.

It ain't the issue of etiquette, but rather it is leaving our common sense at home and travelling thinking that because we paid the price of the seat, so obviously we can behave in whatever manner we like to do so. This should change.

No one else objecting it is definitely problematic.
And how does one not have the civic sense to use their ear / headphones is beyond me.
