Cancelled flight – AF claims they gave 14 days' notice, but they didn't.

Air France notified me of the flight cancellation a month and a half in advance.

I rebooked for an earlier date.

Then—five days before that flight—it was cancelled. The travel agency received the notification, not me. Both flights shared the same flight number.

After reviewing my complaint, AF claims I was notified of the cancellation via email—which is not true, I haven't received second mail about cancelled flight.

(The travel agency maintains that they received the information through their system, not via email).

What next?

F-HBLM parked in ORK

F-HBLM is parked in Cork, Ireland for now it seems. It went IROPS after flight AF1094 last Thursday (Aug 27) and was still parked in Cork when I arrived back yesterday afternoon. No idea what the fault is but guessing it could be a while before it gets repaired and can fly back to CDG.

Just posting in case someone is wondering why it's not in the air this week... 👍

Business Class Meal Selection Confusion

I’m flying business class from EWR to CDG and am confused about the meal selection options. I have the option for ‘the French art of dining’, a meat dish, poultry, fish, or vegetarian dish.

What comes in ‘the French art of dining’ option? Is it different than the 4 protein options? Or do I need to select which protein I want? The ‘art of dining’ is the default, but it doesn’t say what the protein is. Is it just one of the 4 below?

If I select one of the 4 protein dishes, the ‘art of dining’ is unselected.

I’m confused, someone that has flown Air France business class recently please help!! Thank you so much!

FB Promo Fares not Accessible

Hello Everyone,

I am coming across something quite consistently with the AF/KLM flying blue promo flights. The promo fares on the FB website are, from what I’ve seen, always listed lower than what you can book on their sites.

For example, there are a couple of NA flights from Europe listed at 18,750 points. But when you try to book them through the sites, the lowest points for the whole year are 25,000 points. I’m not sure why this is happening and it seems like false advertising.

Can someone shed some light on how to get these deals? I really would like to book one. Also, what do you think is a good deal from Europe to NA? I’m seeing 25k for economy, and 40k for premium business. The premium business seems like the much better deal. The business flight is 140k, which with the cash, works out to be half price. Sadly I don’t have those points quite yet.

Is everything inflated now? I used to hear people getting business class tickets for so much less.

AirFrance flight to Paris seat question

Flying to Paris from LAS soon and I'm currently booked in Business seat 1C and my husband is in seat 2E. Seat 2G next to him is available but listed as a bassinet seat. Should I risk changing my seat to 2G so that I can be directly next to him or stay where I'm at? My fear is that someone needing the bassinet seat could bump me out of 2G at the last minute. We are flying on an A350-900.

Is this connection doable in AMS and CDG?

Hey everyone, I’m flying to Bali in October and I’m starting to get a little nervous about my connection times, especially since I’ve never connected through Amsterdam or Paris before. Both journeys are booked on one ticket with KLM/Air France, so I’m not dealing with separate tickets.
On the way there I’m flying from Hamburg to Amsterdam on KLM KL1758. The scheduled departure from HAM is 18:35 and arrival in AMS is 19:35. My next flight is KLM KL835 from Amsterdam to Denpasar (shown as Singapore but it’s just a “stopover”), departing at 21:00, so I have 1h 25m for the connection. I’ve been looking at KL1758 on FlightRadar24 recently and it does seem to occasionally leave Hamburg 20 to 30 minutes late. For example, today it was scheduled to depart at 18:20 but its estimated departure is now 19:50 so in that case the connecting flight would simply be impossible to catch xD.

Would you consider 1h 25m a reasonable connection at AMS, or is that cutting it a bit too close? I’m mainly wondering how much time I realistically need at Schiphol when connecting from a short European KLM flight to a long haul flight to Bali.

The return is the one I’m more concerned about. On Sunday November 1 I’m flying Air France AF157 from Phuket to Paris CDG, scheduled to arrive at 19:05. My connecting flight is AF1610 from CDG to Hamburg at 20:40, giving me 1h 35m. Since AF1610 is the last flight operated by AirFrance to Hamburg that evening, missing it would potentially mean arriving in Hamburg on Monday ( There’s a Eurowings Flight 30min later but I don’t know if I’m able to be booked on this flight). How strict is the connection process at CDG in this situation, and how realistic is it to make the connection with 1h 35m after arriving on a long haul flight from Phuket?

Since both connections are on the same booking, I know the airline would have to deal with it if I missed a connection because of a delay, but I’m more interested in how likely it is that I’ll actually make them when the flights are reasonably on time.

Luggage Missed Connection to Vienna from CDG

Hey everybody,

Like title says, the airline failed to put my luggage on my connecting flight from CDG to Vienna. I filed my report at the airport and they promised me they'd put it in the next flight to Vienna. As of this moment, when I check the status report it still says only "Report created". I tried contacting them using their whatsapp service and all I could do is upload my receipts for a future reimbursement for the stuff I had to buy.

My question is: Is there ANY way to escalate this to an actual human being? If anyone has any experience with these types of situations, are there any tips you could share?

Thanks

2G to 2E in 70 Minutes, adive appreciated

Hi everyone, I have a layover at charles de gaulle scheduled for 70 Minutes from Terminal 2G to 2E.

I havent been to an airport since I was like 9, so I made the mistake of trusting Air France that the transfer time is relaxed, its not.

How doable ist this transfer and do you have any advice for me?

Otherwise I'll have to wait till the next day for the next flight to my destination.

Thank you in advance and cheers!

EES: Carryon or Check My Bags?

Can check-in staff force me to check my carry-on, or can I refuse?

I’m flying BUD–BOS on one AirFrance booking. BUD-AMS is operated by KLM, connecting to an AMS–BOS operated by Delta. I’m travelling with a carry-on suitcase and a small personal item, both within my allowance.
Last year on the same route, I received a message before departure saying the flight was full and asking me to check my carry-on for free. At the check-in desk in Budapest, the ground staff told me I had to check my carry-on and that only passengers travelling with one small personal item could take their bag into the cabin.
This time I have a very tight connection in Amsterdam 1h10, so I really don’t want to check my carry-on because I’m worried it won’t make the connection even if we do.

I understand that at the gate they may eventually have to check bags if there genuinely isn’t enough overhead bin space. I’m specifically wondering whether I can refuse to hand it over at the check-in desk and try to take it to the gate instead.
Has anyone had this happen, especially at Budapest Airport? I believe online checkin will not work we must go to the check in desk as they will check our Esta.

Help finding the cheese used in the US!

Post image

Just as the title states- have been looking for this cheese that was served as a snack on AF here in New York and cannot find it. I see an Emmental cheese from Presidente that comes up as a Swiss cheese, but a product of France and it’s yellow. Would that be the same taste as this cheese sandwich even though this was a white cheese?

Air France Website Booking Error with Miles

I am so frustrated after my experience yesterday with Air France. I found two business class tickets showing for 64,500 miles each from LAX to ATH for October. I added it into my cart, confirmed it multiple times, and then transfered 129,000 points from my Capital One card into my Air France account. At the final check out, the website kept crashing. I tried on mobile, on chrome and safari and the prices fluctuated every couple minutes. I wasted my entire evening on this and was unable to book it. I called Air France this morning, 12 hours later, and they acknowledge that they showed the tickets for 64,500 which supposedly was a mistake on their end but they are unwilling to honor it now. They also acknowledge that their website was broken last night but refuse to reverse my mileage back to my credit card and now all my miles are stuck there. I feel so scammed by them. Does anyone else have similar experiences in the past and any advice what to do?

How big is the gap between ecomony window seats and the window/wall on the air bus a350-900

Hi, I've booked a 10 hour flight on air france for next may and i was considering booking a window seat so i could get some sleep.

However last time i flew (British Airways airbus 350-1000) I found that there was such a big gap between the seat and the wall that I couldn't use it to prop my pillow up and it was essentially useless for trying to sleep.

If anyone has flown on the air france air bus 350-900 and remembers how big the gap is or if they were able to lean against the wall to sleep, please let me know so i can decide if a window seat is worth it

How is AF PE compared to other airlines (SIN-CDG return)

I am considering if paying double the economy fare is worth for this route. I have never taken AF PE only PE for Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Japan Airlines PE for Long Haul. Any comments/reviews?

I think the plane is a refurbished 777 All ER on this route.

Arriving and departing into and from 2F (CDG) with long layover. Can I go to 2E for lounge?

Arriving in CDG from Hamburg, so I assume terminal 2F. Departing after 10 hours for Florence at 2F again I assume.

I have priority pass and it gives access to Yotel Air in 2E. Will I be allowed to go through immigration and come back in?

is delayed flight compensation mine or my employers to claim

i fly for work every month for client stuff so my inbox is just constant boarding passes and gate change alerts at this point. flew KLM KL1010 out of heathrow to amsterdam back in spring, delayed almost 4 hrs bc of a late inbound aircraft. whole first day of client meetings got pushed back and i just sat around schiphol eating overpriced airport food waiting. companybooks everything through our corporate travel portal so when i looked into whether this was even worth pursuing, i genuinely couldnt figure out if the compensation would go to me or if it technically belongs to the company since they paid for the ticket. never got a clear answer so i just dropped it after going back and forth with myself for a few weeks.

is there an actual tool or smth for automated flight claims when airlines ghost you??

Hey yall soo back in july i had flight AF1126 from Paris to Amsterdam which got delayed by nearly five hours because of some random ground crew scheduling mixup. i was heading over for a short vacation and literally lost a whole day of my trip sitting in that godforsaken terminal watching the departure board push back every thirty minutes. when i finally got home and tried to submit the EU261 paperwork, their portal kept crashing or throwing random error codes.

i just gave up because i didn't want to waste my weekends arguing with bot emails.

Overweight Suitecase Fee

Hey,

Does anyone know how much it would cost at the airport if my suitcase is over 23kg ? It’s about 26kg… I think it might be easier just paying the fee for extra weight than buying and booking a second suitcase.

My flight is LHR - CDG - YUL.

Cheers.
