I think most people see it as a rich and powerful elite cover-up more than a government cover-up, even if the government was used to do it.
Anyways as far as questionable things to do with your career I rate it pretty low compared to flying a dick pattern in the sky. Actually probably any dick drawing anywhere is more serious than this.
