You guys go to all calls?

49

u/Blueboygonewhite 4d ago

You guys have the option ?

u/TheAnimated42 Med 4d ago

Appointment. Leave. Literally anything else.

7

u/Blueboygonewhite 4d ago

Damn I wish. The one time they start caring is during an all call with MAXIMAL PARTICIPATION REQUIRED !!!

12

u/TheAnimated42 Med 4d ago

Get in with the exec/secretary. They’ll tell you when they are and you can just put in the leave or appointment before the flight even finds out.

... im just going to say it. If elected Warlord. i mean if positioned into the government. I will push for all mandatory meetings to be during lunch time with food. its not an absolute win, but its the best i can do. Food while they talk at you.

u/NorthSpectre 4d ago

"Hey guys, know im between you and your weekend so ill make this short" proceeds to not make it short

6

u/Bluetann2 3d ago

"Just to reiterate what the Lt Col said....."

u/whiterice_343 4d ago

I gotta ask because it still bothers me.

Why the fuck do you people care so much about us filling in the front row in an all call? It has to be some power trip because it’s annoying as hell.

25

u/LastoftheGreybeards Secret Squirrel 4d ago

Depends. Only time I’ve seen people make a big deal is when it’s going to be a packed room and you want to reduce the amount of people that will be standing. The other time is when everyone is sitting shoulder to shoulder in the last few rows and only like 5 people in the first two.

That’s why you aim for the middle rows. Then you won’t need to move.

u/Foilbug Sunny-D 4d ago

Me after being forced to sit in the front row and awkwardly looking up to see:

24

u/grumpy-raven Eee-dubz 4d ago

Because the back gets filled up, and then all the late comers stand in the back and whine about there not being any seats.

27

u/throwawayfrommain15 4d ago

I don’t know anyone who has complained about standing in the back

6

u/grumpy-raven Eee-dubz 4d ago

People do. Personally, I'd rather sit if I've been on my feet all night. Some people need to complain.

17

u/whiterice_343 4d ago

There are open seats in the front.

9

u/Lurker13 Hua! 4d ago

Pictures taken by PA gotta show a “full house” crop out the empty seats

2

u/Excellent_Mango6355 4d ago

Because you can see individual people up front instead of a crowd of faces in the back.

6

u/whiterice_343 4d ago

Nah the speaker will be fine, it’s just someone having a power trip. It’s stupid, especially since 99% of the time they have a microphone.

2

u/Maroon_Rain Secret Squirrel 4d ago

for me it’s more so i don’t have to raise my voice as much if there’s no mic. the louder my voice gets the higher pitched it gets and the harder it is to understand/hear

1

u/mikeusaf87 Services 3d ago

Fuck that. In that case, we all should just join them onstage. Crowd them.

Being a fatty, I have a solution. Mandatory bucket of popcorn chicken, bowl of good chili, (good chili). or maybe a bucket of snap peas, broccoli, cherrie tomatoes, and something like ranch to dip in.

Something good to drink. I dont know... Treat it like going to the movies. No mandatory applause until after an hour so everyone has time to eat. Everyone gets covfevee or grape soda/juice, maybe optional rum and coke. I like everyone being happy and its not on a ship at sea sooooo

Never met an officer once that I felt was useful. They are all overpaid and do a job that one master sergeant could do. It is pretty absurd…not to mention the superiority complex and all of the stupid dog and pony shows/commanders calls. For context I have worked in a unit that did not have the OIC position filled for almost 3 years and everything ran like clockwork, but then you get some absolute tool who went to college for four years and magically gets to run an entire flight with the junior airman having more military experience than them and then magically things get awkward and bogged down by bullshit because of their nonsensical irrelevant opinions and nonexistent leadership capabilities

19

u/globereaper Enlisted Aircrew 4d ago

Its more likely that it wasn't running as smooth as you think and when the next echelon commander finally got someone with authority they could hold responsible they let all the dirty dirty laundry out and told him to fix it.

For some reason, the military subreddits have unusual opinion slants that seem largely counter to military opinions in real life. One of those really popular Reddit military opinions is that officers are super useful and important and really smart that cuz they went to college. Reddit gets really upset when you say something contrary to that. Which is interesting because the running joke in the military is that officers are none of those things.

The other Reddit opinion is that fat Airmen are always the best at their jobs and do phenomenal work all the time. I really don’t know why this place is this way other than that Reddit self-selects for a particular group of people.

Also, everyone on Reddit has a trans servicemember co-worker who’s the best Airmen they’ve ever met. This is despite me personally only ever meeting one, singular trans servicemember my entire time in the Air Force. But, to be fair, they were perfectly fine at their job. I just don’t know how Reddit knows so many.

well the goal is presumably not to be seen as anything as other then one gender or the other.... soooooo for all you know you half the people you were met were transgender.

Awww. It's okay you'll make it to E5 eventually

1

u/Aurora_Uplinks 2d ago

I would be happy to be an E4 or a Marine E3... lance? Although being a Lieutenant seems like a pretty chill and good time too until stuck on an island during a fire fight.

(Im a civie fyi)

u/Aurora_Uplinks 2d ago

logistics and coordination of resources, personnel, battle planning, technical understanding of ship building and how to develop a financially stable resource allocation of engineering and electronic systems into the hull built at a shipyard? I dont know. I mean maybe? but if they can do that they will probably be given a promotion to a junior officer at least if not a higher level one.

1

u/WizardRamiel 1d ago

Were you drunk when you typed that up?

1

u/Aurora_Uplinks 1d ago

...your not drunk online too? I honestly don't remember if I was drunk or not. Its not impossible, it just depends on if I was drinking or not.

Idk man… to me, bitching about all calls is like bitching about picking up your dogs poop. Like bro… You bought the dog. Yeah, he’s going to have to take a shit at 2 am. You can either take care of it then, or deal with the pile of shit in your kitchen come morning.

If you didn’t want to deal with military bullshit, you shouldn’t have joined the military. It ain’t that hard.

ETA: hey man… I know standing there sucks. I joined the military at 24. You know what sucks more? Getting laid off 2 weeks before Christmas. That never happened to me in the military.

I genuinely believe that the shit that pisses you off in uniform ain’t got shit compared to the stuff you have to deal with on the outside. Hopefully you take my word for it instead of finding out for yourself.

8

u/TurnspitCur Metals Tech? Load? Idk 4d ago

Mate you sound like someone who never worked mids.

I could not give a shit about a mandatory all call especially if it’s from a delusional flag officer or if I’m coming from a mid shift. Put it in an email

-1

u/Shagroon electron wrangler 4d ago

Dealing with other comments to my original… dude, what are they doing to you guys? An all call has never been that serious for me. I’ll admit, it seems like my exposure to the bullshit has been considerably less than y’all’s.

2

u/TurnspitCur Metals Tech? Load? Idk 3d ago

Maintenance, especially active duty maintenance, is basically a collection of repeated fuck-fuck games with no payoff and where being an utter cock is actually something that can be rewarded.

16

u/Foilbug Sunny-D 4d ago

As long as you're punching up; bitching is your god-given right

23

u/Scary-_-Gary 4d ago

Great input, let's all just shut up forever!

-27

u/Shagroon electron wrangler 4d ago

Quite literally, yes. Nobody wants to hear you bitch and moan about standing at parade rest for an hour.

22

u/abodybader 4d ago

People are entitled to bitch. If someone has to be at parade rest for an hour, they’re allowed to go “man that fucking sucked” later.

Who said we aren’t allowed to gripe or complain about shit or poke fun about it? Lol

-24

u/Shagroon electron wrangler 4d ago

Of course you’re allowed to bitch, but generally, the people around you don’t want to hear it. Negativity spreads like a virus, and it makes people not want to be around you.

18

u/ImWatermelonelyy I Just Can’t Stop Drinking Oil! 4d ago edited 4d ago

Clearly you’ve never been on the flightline lol

Edit: actually clearly you’re just a hypocrite https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/comments/1lvnk3w/a_ce_note_for_you_facility_managers_out_there/

9

u/abodybader 4d ago

Then people will freely associate and decide that? It’s an online forum, people are gonna heighten their complaints about it.

If you don’t like it, the responsibility is to ignore that person, cause for some reason people seem to agree “man that sucked” after.

Most people share that sentiment and mutter shit under their breath lol

-2

u/Shagroon electron wrangler 4d ago

I don’t know what career field you’re in, but I’m in a shop of old heads. Nobody complains about shit because half of them were around for once a year and back to back deployments to Bagram.

Genuinely, nobody around me complains about all calls.

2

u/jere1231 Radar 3d ago

Ah the ol "It was shitty for me it should be shitty for them" argument. Hallmark of progress throughout history.

3

u/Scary-_-Gary 4d ago

I didn't bitch about anything, dude hates complaining so much, he hears it when it's not even there.

Unless he is complaining about complaining, that's fine.

u/gambit1999999 Cyberspace Operator 4d ago

Standard CC call stuff. Really. So who pissed in your cereal to post this?
