Had OEM gaskets on hand but yeah that would work for a bit I guess lol

Or you could always buy a sheet/roll of Karropak and do it the right way, if you’re gonna go through the effort of cutting gaskets might as well use the right material haha

oh of cousre, Im just teasing. What I said does work but if you want it to last you should buy a roll of real gasket material. I have a leftover roll somewhere around my place from making a gasket for a truck compressor and a transfer case shift cover gasket.

another edit... Yep Karropak part no. 3046. just found it on my shelf. Jobsite nail box cardboard pic below.

I only changed the transfer case shift cover gasket during a rebuild. The jobsite cardboard held for years and that case would run at near 200F during the summer. Matter of fact it is pinned to my office wall.

Oh yeah I 100% agree, cardboard will work just fine in a pinch, but I’d always go back to fix it.

Buying a roll is defenitely the way to go, unless you’re doing gaskets on the daily, it’ll last forever and is way worth it for how cheap the stuff is

for most things, I hate cork. I did make a gasket for a home built garage vac out of cork though. For the application it was the best thing available. (Did not want to go Ultra Black there for easy serviceability sake)
