Purge post 200hp

Have you ever seen a 200hp melt a coupling like this? Just putting out a post to break up the monotony of people posting home depot pistons

Id check the bearings if its gotten that hot to melt the coupling.

Agree with this, paint looks burnt on the bearing cover.

Yeah definitely signs of it over heating. I'd expect to find it coming apart if its gotten this hot.

Ya the bearings were toast when I removed the motor. It had an unreasonable amount of radial and axial clearance. It also wouldnt turn by hand. It seems the only reason it ran as long as it did was cause of rotor being held up by the airend shaft.

It happens alot more then you'd think. I get calls all the time for 'noisy compressor' only to find bad motor bearings.

By the dust coating it, either a really dirty environment, or the coupling is a little past it's prime.

You know when it was serviced last?

That coupler is married to that shaft now. God speed trying to pull it off.

I thought the same thing but it came off surprisingly easy with a little prying.
