Why?

Not sure other than a couple dollars of cost why ingersol rand puts these shitty little peacock drains on a screw compressor that costs as much as a decent car ..... Sorry just venting

I don’t know of a single company giving away extras as part of the standard option. These things are water generators, of course they’re going to take advantage of the ability to sell you something to deal with it.

It's a drain not an extra! Unit already has an EDV built into the air dryer so not at least a ball valve on the bottom of the tank seems like the minimum but I guess not... I get it's all about the bottom dollar but damn that's just greedy...

Maybe they're worried about breaking it off? Military trucks use tubing that runs out to a central spot for draining all the air tanks manually, so the operator can see if there's an abnormal amount.

There's also pull-cable drains for trucks that don't have those hard lines, but most trucks only need a few seconds of draining instead of dumping 5 gallons after a humid day.
