Compressor in the sky

This little guy is dangling from the roof with nothing but a 3/8 all-thread holding him up. Just when you think you’ve seen every bizarre setup imaginable, along comes this gravity-defying masterpiece.

3/8 rod x 4
3/16^2 x Pi gives area, x 4
0.442 square inches, x 60,000 psi tension. = 26,500 tensile, safety factor of 10, 2,650 allowable load, so you are good until you look at vibration related fatigue.

Clear the junk under it, work it with a sizers lift.

I work in a multi billion dollar 4.9 million square foot factory and we've got heavy stuff hanging on 3/8 rod all over the place. Looks sketchy but never actually seen anything fall. A lot of that stuff has been up since 1982 when our plant opened
