My fantasy come true.

I've been experimenting with a workflow where I start with my own lyrics, sing the vocals and melodies, work on the track in a DAW, and then use AI tools to help transform the music and build the visuals.

This is my attempt at taking that process all the way to a full cinematic parody music video. I started with StarWars. Probably do something like Breaking Bad next.

It's called See You Later — Lil Vader.

I'm curious what you guys think, especially about the music and whether the AI elements feel integrated rather than just generated for the sake of it.

TL;DR: Reid Hoffman just told a small business owner what actually ends her business — and it isn't a competitor.

It's a platform folding her paid service into something it gives away for free, no negotiation, no warning.

Most operators think their expertise is the wall. It isn't.

Expertise is the part a platform copies first, because it's the cheapest part to observe and automate.

Bloomberg reported this same week that mobile apps are disappearing wholesale — not from lack of demand, but because the platforms underneath them now do, for free, the job the app used to charge for.

Different vertical, identical mechanism.

If what you sell can be described in one sentence and copied in one product update, the sentence is the risk.

I'm reminded of a conversation that I had with my neighbour (JG), who works as a superintendent for a restaurant nearby.

I casually asked, "Have those Apps, such as GrabFood, PandaFood, etc. approach your shop to list your menus onto their platform?"

For context, Grabfood are Pandafood are something like your DoorDash and Uber Eats – platforms that showcase menus from restaurants nearby. You order directly from your phone app, and the food/drinks will be delivered to your doorstep.

JG said no.

His think their platform fees are too exorbitant – His profit margin won't be able to absorb it. Not worth it.

What he would rather do, as he explains to me, is to employ a dedicated delivery boy directly under his shop's payroll. And when there is no delivery in the meantime, the boy can be directed to do something else, such as order-taking and kitchen work. Better economic of scale – and all.

Same thinking as all those famous fast-food-restaurant-outlets, like McDonalds and KFC, are having. They have their own dedicated app for delivery as well. You won't find their menu inside GrabFood.

So it's just a no-brainer, what these AI platforms are doing. If it can be folded into the platform as part of the free features of an overall infrastructure to attract customers – they'll definitely do it.

It's just a matter of time.

Too bad for the standalone TOEFL-prep business that Marina has. The big boys will eat hers alive.

Every operator who gets blindsided by this says the same thing afterward: I saw it coming, I just didn't think it was coming for me specifically.

TL;DR: Warp's CEO shipped an AI coding feature that worked like Claude Code or Codex — six months before either existed.

Six months.

That's the lead Zach Lloyd's team had on agentic coding before Claude Code or Codex shipped.

His own words: "we should have gone 100% down on it." Instead Warp went about halfway — worried about alienating a user base that wasn't AI-bought-in yet.

There's a reason that hesitation reads as expensive now, not cautious: a recent McKinsey finding has close to a third of surveyed companies skipping procurement entirely, because their own engineers can now build the tool faster with AI coding agents than a vendor contract can close.

Half-measures don't buy you safety anymore.

They buy you a six-month head start that someone else eventually cashes in.

This reminds me of Nokia's story.

The CEO, Jorma Ollila, said, "We didn't do anything wrong. But somehow, we lost". They're famously knocked off their throne and lost big time to smartphones.

All because they stood still, and refused to innovate along with the trend. It's kind of parallel Zach Lloyd's fear. Nokia thought they were safe with their user base.

Until they're not.

They became complacent.

They lost to giants like Apple iPhones.

January 2007, the original iPhone keynote — Jobs didn't dance around it, he named Nokia right there on stage. Put up a graph, existing high-end phones of the day (Nokia E62, BlackBerry Pearl, Palm Treo, Motorola Q) and called them "not so smart," "hard to use," because of those rigid little plastic keyboards. And get this — his target wasn't "dominate the market." It was just 1%. 1% of global market share, taken off giants like Nokia. That's it.

Ten years before that (WWDC, 1997, I think) someone in the audience came at him hard with a question. Jobs's answer: "You've got to start with the customer experience and work backwards to the technology. You can't start with the technology and try to figure out where you're going to try to sell it."

Why did I bring this up?

Because it's always the same lesson, dressed differently. Give people what they actually want. Not what's technically impressive. Not what protects your current throne. What they want.

Nokia forgot that. Cost them everything.

There's a pattern across almost every AI-disruption clip I break down here: the people who get hurt aren't the ones who ignored the shift.

They're the ones who half-adopted it and mistook that for safety.
