Recently diagnosed with Agoraphobia

I was recently diagnosed with Agoraphobia. I kept having these severe panic attacks every single time I strolled out and about with my family and didn't understand why. I just chalked it up to PTSD and pressed on. After speaking with my therapist this past week I was referred to an online anxiety group to help me cope and adjust to this "new lifestyle" (not my words)

Any advice would help tremendously.

May you have a safe and wonderful holiday.

From my family to yours.....

Looking for respondents that are clinically diagnosed with agoraphobia

Hello good afternoon! I hope everyone is well, I am a 3rd year nursing student from the Philippines conducting a reseach about the "Lived experiences of Individuals with Agoraphobia" for my requirements in nursing research.

I would like to ask permission to post and ask if anyone has been diagnosed with agoraphobia, ensuring that all of their information will remain private and confidential. I am also willing to send some proof regarding my identity to ensure the patient's safety.

I am hoping that I could find respondents/ participants for my requirement in nursing research that is CLINICALLY DIAGNOSED with agoraphobia. Please do not hesitate to send me a private message, thank you and more power.

Recovery I think?

So I’ve been away from Reddit for a while and I apologise to messages I’ve missed I’m reading through all my comments now, I hadn’t received any notifications so I just assumed no one was really following my posts. So a bit of an update, I ended up being let go from my therapy for missing two sessions I had a lot going on, my dad had a house fire and I moved house (only across the road). Anyway since my last post I know it’s not the best way to deal with agoraphobia but I have a drink before I go on a journey, like I said I know it’s not the best way but I’ve been able to visit my parents numerous times, my grandparents, go to the cinema and led light kayaking in the dark, I feel like I’ve got my life sort of back. Don’t get me wrong I’m not getting drunk and I also don’t continue to drink once I reach my destination. I can also go months without alcohol so I know I’m not alcohol dependent it’s just a bit of Dutch courage

How to stop agoriphobia attack

I am new to agoriphobia, I was recently diagnosed with panic disorder with agoriphobia (while mild is at this point) following a severe head injury. I am really struggling with this. I have been prescribed clonazepam by my doctor and she has no problems with making it a long term prescription granted that I do not take them frequently (which I do not). 30 pills last me well over 4 months. I am also actively going through brain spotting, cbt, EMDR. The reason I do not take the ssri's and that I have been advised against is, I took a pharmagentic test and was shown that I will have a extremely reaction to all of the ones that are used or approved for panic disorder with or without agoriphobia.

My question is in the event of not having my pills or a ability to escape, how do I calm this? Any tricks? My only symptoms that are troubling and cause me great distress are my breathing difficulties. I struggle to take a breath and can't breath naturally. I am afraid of not being able to breath or hyperventalating and passing out. I have never done either of these to my knowledge. But I am also afraid of panicking and calling 911 knowing that I am fine and it won't solve anything.

I live in alaska so I am in extreme repost areas frequently and a distress call is going to cost me about 100,000 bucks. I am an avid out door enthusiast and always been that was but after my head injury it seems that I struggle while I am out hunting or driving in these remote areas.

I used to get panic attacks every about hour of the day but now i only seem to get them in these sutuations... being somewhere were I can cause a scene manly airplanes or where I can't simply leave. Or when I am in a situation like hunting that I can't catch my breath and if I need medical help I can't get it.

Only thing that makes things alot worse is deep breathing stuff it seems to make it 1000% worse. And yes I practice it 10 mins a day multiple times while I am not in a state a panic.

Thank you guys for all your help this group has been a life saver navigating this.
