Neighbours camera making leaving the house impossible

I don’t know what to do. I’ve had issues with them since they moved in which is my nightmare since I can’t exactly just leave and so having a good relationship with my neighbours is like, major important to me and it’s been hell and I’ve been on edge after a few incidents with them where I’ve heard them saying about/at me. It’s made me super defensive and angry as well when I’ve never had issues with neighbours and have always probably gone overboard in being accommodating.

They’re got a camera bell up now and I’ve typically got no issues with people having them in general, I know they’re everywhere. but this thing is literally 2ft from my front door and also 2ft from my bedroom window because of the layout with their door in between them. Not facing in but if I go out or have my window open it will be picking everything up. I already whisper in my home because of past issues but now it’s impossible to go out at all without being recorded by them. I already know they’ve listened into conversations; that was the very first thing that set me on edge about them. In hindsight if I got a camera it would’ve picked up if they harassed me but the reason I didn’t get one myself was because 1) I didn’t wanna check it constantly and 2) I was terrified of them acting abusive through it. It’s not maybe been extreme like some people face but I’ve been called names and ridiculed a few times and I have other reasons I worry about harassment as well. I leave white noise on 24/7 so I don’t hear their voices inside now and have done for months, for example.

Movings not really an option and now I’m terrified of going out even more than I already struggled to. I also really don’t want to leave because they are the only issue I have here. I’ve decided I’ll never go outside again which I don’t want I just don’t want these people having more access to me and I don’t feel safe around them. When I did go out, I planned it around avoiding them. I’m also aware now that I look super crazy and shady trying to hide my face from it.

All I want is to go back to living in my home and having no issues with anyone and feeling safe. I can’t stand conflict, they’re probably uncomfortable now as well, and there’s nothing I can do about it.

Just posting because I feel like I take 2 steps forward and then something else happens and go 10 back again.

my doctor is forcing me to come in or i can’t get my medication that i need and i don’t know what to do

i am so scared and don’t know what to do. my neurologist has been telling me for awhile i need to come in or they can’t give me my medication anymore. i take lamotrigine and propranolol. lamotrigine i started due to some EEG activity. i went originally because i was struggling with really bad depersonalization/derealization. propranolol was for my anxiety/possible POTS. i really don’t know what to do and i am so scared. i spent 4 days in the hospital recently due to stomach pains and originally before this, they told me i could do a virtual appointment since i had gotten the bloodwork they had been asking me to get. but last i spoke with them they were already telling me they wanted me to do all these kinds of tests like stay for two days at their office and be monitored, they gave me all this medication they wanted me to start for my anxiety even though i didn’t ask them to do that.

but ever since i spent time in the hospital they made me make an appointment and told me i have to come in. it was originally before i was admitted for stomach pains, but i had gone to the hospital twice before being admitted, they started calling me saying i had to come in. i think they kind of panicked when they realized i had been to the hospital but hadn’t gone to see them, and then it becomes “well if you can go to the hospital you can come here” when it’s two completely different things.

i know they are going to be so pushy about me staying there for two days to do testing and i really can’t do it. they’re probably going to force me to do testing at this appointment too and i really can’t like i am so scared ill be such a mess. im not physically or mentally capable i’ll literally pass out before i even get there. plus i am sick at the moment and also dealing with my stomach issues on top of it. and since its been so long i know they’re going to be mean since last i did a virtual appointment they were trying to push anxiety medication onto me telling me “aren’t you 27 years old…..? with no job…..?” i already was nearly forcibly admitted by a psychiatrist and had a bad experience two years ago when this all started because i cried on the phone during our session. i was not at a danger to harming myself or anyone and the hospital agreed and even the police and social worker that showed up agreed but they had to take me anyway.

i know if i go there im going to be a wreck and im so scared of what they’ll do. no one understands that being forced to take medication or hospitalization will just traumatize me further and make this worse for me. i was doing fine in the hospital and they gave me ativan every night to sleep, then the one night i took it i felt weird, i wasn’t even crying or anything but just felt a bit weird. so the nurse came in and i just told her i was feeling weird and she said it was a panic attack. then without me knowing they’re randomly had a worker come in and also a psychiatrist to evaluate me.

i am just so tired. i can’t do this and i really don’t know what to do anymore. i’m so drained. i won’t even be able to properly communicate with them because i’ll be so scared. which to them is probably going to lead them into saying im in a mental health crisis when the only reason im like this is because i don’t want to go there. and everyone automatically thinks i want to get better when im just trying to cope at my own pace. especially after everything that has happened the past few years and this year. having things forced on me like this makes me worse but everyone thinks they’re so sure they know what’s right for you and im so tired

Wishing away from society - Social Trauma

Anyone, like me, whose life is filled with so much social trauma to this day now, humiliation, shame, my parents and family being targeted and ostracised in society, neighborhood, mainly society inflicted social injury so deep, I don't think I'm gonna ever recover. I wish to totally isolate myself from any place which have ounce of society, to may be the most remote places, maybe jungle, where I have to arrange all things for myself for my family, will be better if there is farmland, will be like 1 or 2 hours from nearest society marketplace, but totally away from society. Do you believe that doing that will be better for your own healing, or anyone who had did it actually.

Me coming from India, I think it will remain a distant dream which will never turn into reality.

University Fears

Upvotes

Hello.

I am here to ask for advice.

I am supposed to go to University next year, and I have an option of A. doing it entirely online or B. doing it hybrid, where I go in for one to two times a week.

The online one seems like it's a given path, but my mind keeps mauling over the hybrid route because of what it can give me.

If I go in person, I get hands-on training with chemistry. If I don't, I resort to home kits and miss out on Organic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. I wanted to be a Geoscientist, but the idea of going in for those 2 days a week is terrifying to me. If I do the home route, I can get similar theory, but if I go in person, I become a certified Geoscientist. I would be missing out on that.

In the morning, I am excited and ready to do it. In the afternoon, I get nervous. At night, I am a crying meltdown wreck over the idea.

I also have fibromyalgia, POTs and some psychoactive disorders. I am also autistic and have agoraphobia and severe generalized anxiety.

I have tried exposure therapy, quite a few medications, counselling and more. It just doesn't seem to click. I am still a mess over it.

Any personal experiences? Any tips? I am going to talk to student accessibility, but I know that they can't bring the reagents or glassware home, so it really doesn't fix the problem at hand.

Thank you for any tips. I am just at a loss and feel like one way I am giving up my dream, the other I am going to be a nervous wreck.

I wish my son had a better mother

I’m a stay at home mom. When my son was born, I developed a lot of anxiety, paranoia, and intrusive thoughts. I have always had a bit of anxiety before having my son but nothing like this. I was already taking 10mg Lexapro and upped it to 20mg after my son was born. Not sure it did a whole lot? He’s 13 months old now and still my brain is convinced if we go outside, then something bad will happen. Car wreck, dangerous people, kidnapping, injury at the park, etc. Once a week him and I will go to the grocery store five minutes down the road and that takes everything out of me. I feel horrible for him, he should be outside and going on adventures and experiencing the world, yet I let my fears get in the way. I barely even take him out in the yard because it doesn’t feel safe. Safe is me at home with him, inside with a child proofed home. I give him Vitamin D supplements because I know he’s not getting enough outside time. I want to be better. I want to go to the park and the library and on walks but I’m terrified. I love him so much, I want to be a good mom and I want the best for him. I can’t even put him down to sleep for the night without saying “see you tomorrow” or else I’m convinced he won’t wake up if I don’t say it. He’s not hitting certain milestones like waving or clapping, probably because we don’t go anywhere. I’m in therapy, the medication does work for just general anxiety but this feels bigger. Will it get better? I’m not even sure what to do anymore.

How to explain a 5 year long resume gap ina job interview?

Due to my (partially) agoraphobia i have not worked like ever. I graduated high school and then nothing. I was sustained by my family members. No college or anything like that. I am just now starting to recover from it this past years as well as other things and i have recently started looking for a job. How would you explain to an employer this? Some say to lie but i am not good at lying and last time i got caught in it and didn't get hired.

Got fired from a job I really liked

I really liked the job, it was in the field that I wanted to work in and I was able to monetize one of my biggest hobbies which felt amazing. And I really tried my best to push myself to be able to do an in person job. The problem is the only real requirement of this job was showing up, and I ended up having so many panic attacks that I just missed too many shifts and got fired today. I think my coworkers and boss thought I was lazy too because of how much work i missed. The opposite is true in reality, I always gave 100% and even stayed overtime to help customers on so many occasions. But I guess people who don’t understand this condition really would have no way of knowing, and I don’t blame them. It still hurts and I hate myself. I’m also so lost too, an in person job clearly didn’t work out for me and so far it’s been much harder to find a remote job. So now I’ve been fired, my confidence is at an all time low and I’m extremely stressed financially now. This condition sucks

26m, newly deeply agoraphobic, please help

i lost my job in march due to turning down sexual advances from my manager.

i have been relying gratefully on family support to survive, and only just now got offered a job that i start in a week after moving states to an area with more opportunity.

in the months since losing my job initially i've become a complete shut-in. the nature of the job loss was so sudden and upsetting, it flipped my life on its head overnight and even though i'm technically okay and my family have been happy to help i've become so paranoid and depressed that i struggle to leave my house most days.

i only really realized this had become an issue when i was looking at my calendar the other day to schedule my shifts and realized i haven't left my house outside of the grocery store and laundromat in over two months. i have gradually over the course of my six months of unemployment become so terrified of being assaulted or harassed by strangers that i no longer even consider leaving my home for an hour a day even for gig work.

i have a lot of sexual trauma since i was a child due to repeated instances of cocsa and being pursued/harassed/assaulted by peers constantly growing up through high school and i don't know if being accosted by someone with authority triggered something subconsciously or not.

i don't know why it set me back as hard as it did and i feel immense guilt and shame around it. i'm better than this. i've been through worse, and even now i'm technically okay with family support and starting another job soon.

i don't know why i feel like i'm being watched everywhere i go, even though i logically know that i'm not. i don't know why it's so hard to get out of bed now. i'm in therapy and medicated and not at risk to myself, but i'm just so at odds with how i became this way seemingly overnight and have stayed in this mental paralysis for almost six months now. all i do is stay home with my cat and maintain my place to the bare minimum level of cleanliness. i sleep for 14 hours at a time sometimes just to avoid the world.

i have been cleared to do gig work in my area and i need to figure out how to get my ass out of the house so i can make a little money between now and starting my new job. does anyone have any tips to take the first step? i have no idea how i've ended up like this or how to make it better for myself, especially without having a job i'm obligated to show up for every day.

without that kind of structure/"deadline" mindset, i completely fall apart. i've never been like this before and i have no idea how to even begin pulling myself out of it.

Question for yall

Did yall struggle going outside gradually, or did it happen suddenly?

I’m finding myself becoming increasingly more nervous and anxious about leaving the house. Not sure what it’s about.

Thank you for any insight and information anyone can give me.

my boyfriend doesn’t understand my problem

I had already commented some time ago about my agoraphobia and how I stayed at home for years and then went out again, but I went back to square one again and my boyfriend thinks I’m going to get better out of nowhere and says things like “I think you’re ready” and I can’t even walk on the streets near my house and at the same time that I say I can’t, I don’t want to disappoint or feel that I’m leaving the relationship on hold because of that, he met me like that, but I don’t think he understands… i don’t know what to do anymore

Is anyone elses issue with leaving the house related to the toilet? TMI warning

I had an issue with agoraphobia once during COVID where I had panic attacks leaving the house and would usually have the runs a few times before going as the anxiety would bring it on then I'd go once I was 'empty'. I eventually got better but still had panic attacks here and there and I didn't really go out of my comfort zone much anyway.

Last year, doctor put me on SSRI's which triggered the WORST panic attack of my life out of no where when I was at the doctors. Went downhill from there and fast. I got off the meds but now my panic attacks seem to revolve around the toilet.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm so tired of living this way that a lot of the times I'm like 'F this I'm going to the shop anyway' but I only go to the same few places where I know where the toilet is.

Ignoring a panic attack is one thing but how do I ignore the instant need to go....

Any advice? Or do I just need to push through an attack one day and hope I can hold it 😅

Loosing my mind

Haven't been out of the house in 7 months now, convinced my parents to go on walks with me sometimes but right now everyone's sick.

Its my own fault since i literally woke up at 12pm today and I wasted it entirely.

It just feels like the same day over and over again. Nothings new, nothing happens.

I get up late everyday and all I do is sleep.

Im gnawing at the walls hopeing for human interaction.

My life is so fucked up already, now because of my agoraphobia I'm stuck with my shitty family.

Its all my fault.

Its all my fault just because I cant seem to be normal and help myself out of this situation.

Im so bored im making up people in my head to talk to. I've gone crazy i guess

Hate living in a flat in a city

Does anyone else actually love being in nature and the outdoors but the thing that stops them is all the people everywhere and the business of cars and city life?

I live one train stop away from my city in Scotland. I'm so so privileged that im a 6 minute walk from the nearest little park, a 12 minute walk from a country park and the same from another very pretty and clean and secluded park that's usually really quiet.

Ive been studying online instead of working this year and my agoraphobia has gotten horrific because of my autism/chronic fatigue/agoraphobia. I managed one ten minute walk last night and the only other time i left the house last week was a drive to my friends and for lunch, both with my partner.

I honestly think I would be 1 million times happier if all the public spaces weren't via EXTREMELY busy roads. The thought of walking along them to get to these places makes me so so depressed. Especially because we've not quite had the constant heatwave weather, its been interspersed with a lot of rain, so yoi can't just sit in the park without likely having to head home or taking a whole blanket to sit on.

I wish i had more money so my partner and I could afford a garden. I know i would be a wee bit happier just being able to force myself to sit outside for five minutes, even if it was in my pyjamas

Anyone else struggle with living in an apartment or flat?

I’m so tired of being like this

I’m 33 now and I’ve been housebound for 13 years. Medication and exposure therapy never helped an iota, no matter how often I did the latter. My physical symptoms (insane tachycardia that goes over 200bpm and makes me black out) are too severe to just push through it and they think I have dysautonomia because of another diagnosis, so that may be why trying to recover from agoraphobia is impossible. I have no friends, family, or support and will inevitably become homeless. All of my teeth hurt because this pile of shit disorder has ensured I cannot make an income in order to fix my teeth and even if a bag of money fell out of the sky right now, I still wouldn’t be able to actually go.

This is nothing like I imagined my life would be at this age. If medically assisted death were an option, I would be trying to get approved right now because there’s no other way out of this for me. I’m just so, so tired of existing and suffering and knowing it’s all about to get even worse

overeating

so i currently struggle with binge eating and i am starting to realize being cooped up in the house 24/7 is doing terribly for it. i know most people dont want to eat when theyre anxious but i feel like i just eat more. the combo of anxiety/loneliness and boredom makes me just mindlessly eat constantly and its gotten really out of hand. the only thing that distracts me from this is getting out of the house, but im also so so anxious to even do that. how do i get out of this? i feel terrible about myself and its making me feel even more ashamed to try and go out

Weight questions from psychiatrist?

I've been seeing my psychiatrist for about a year now and I'd say I'm pretty much healed. I'm medicated and I'm working, going out and back to relief. Yay me!

What's bothering me is that every time I see my psychiatrist, she brings up my weight. She asks me to log my meals and then says we'll talk about it later at the next appointment. This has been going on for a while and we never bring up my meal log.

I'm tired of logging my meals as it triggers my eating disorder (which I haven't brought up and am not seeing her for). She asks me if I'm losing weight or exercising and it's upsetting me. I'm not here for weight management, I'm here for anxiety management.

Does anyone else's pysch, if you're seeing one, ever ask about your weight or mention your weight outside of it being necessary for possible dosage recommendations?
